Guest guest
I was wondering if you could help me or steer me in the right direction. I work for the Town of Belleville. My hours at work are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. As you are aware my son, is autistic and I am the primary caregiver to him. He starts school at 8:35 a.m. I don't get to work unitl 8:45 a.m. It wasn't an issue with my employer before as long as I provided them with documentation from the school which I did. Now, for the past 10 months it has become an issue due to a certain councilman. I just talked to my boss about it and she is telling me that no one would hire me anywhere if I told them I would be a few minutes late to make sure my son got to school ok. Is there any law that protects me in regards to caring for a child with a disability and if there is where could I find it. Also are there any attorneys that strictly deal with cases like this. I feel like I am being harrassed. I make up my 10 minutes by cutting my lunch short and I never take my 15 minute breaks. Thank you so much for your help Bejarano
Guest guest
I am not sure but perhaps FMLA might apply here. A lawyer who deals with employment issues could tell you for sure and/ or what your rights are. I am sorry for what you are going through and I hope it is resolved quickly.
