Guest guest
Thank you , Matt is really struggling, more than I thought he would and I cannot wait to chat with the doc tomorrow and see him Tuesday, if not sooner. The kitty in the card is Rocky, our newest edition and aka lowrider, our lil crippled kitty. I will post the story about him soon, gotta run and tend to Matt! Guest guest
Hi everyone, Just this weekend my mother and I were discussing just how Matt's vocabulary has exploded and the depths of his conversations with us. He is also telling us more of what he is feeling (i.e., I'm mad) instead of just reacting (although we are having more episodes with explosive behavior - which is not unexpected as his life is changing with my soon to be ex husband moving across country. I expect Matt's behavior to get even worse once his dad leaves on March 1st - but hope that it will level out once he becomes used to his NEW normal). He started baseball this week. He was actually attempting to catch the ball in his mitt. A big change from last year. He's still not completely clear on the rules or where the bases are - but he was paying better attention to the coach and he was staying in task with less need to redirect him. He is also more aware of his hands and face getting messy while eating. LOL - not that he still doesn't wear a good portion of some of his food - like his chocolate ice cream sandwich - but now he tries to wipe his face with his napkin and wants it washed when finished. Last night he ASKED to color in a coloring book. That has NEVER happened before. And he did a pretty good job also!! We currently have him at 2 scoops of NV a day. After reading 's post on the various amounts being taken by the various ages, I am going to increase his dosage to 3 or 4 scoops. Do you think it would be alright to just jump straight to 4 scoops or should we go to 3 and then 4 scoops? I am really excited to see the improvements we are seeing in diverse areas of Matt - speech - but not just word production - also complexity of thought, fine motor and the seeking out a challenging fine motor task, attention/focus, and humor. I look forward to anyone's thoughts on increasing Matt's dosage (reminder - Matt is 9 years old and weighed 70 pounds in October - haven't weighed him since but in know he weighs more - he's been on an incredible growth surge). Thanks. Lori
