If you are getting the half scoop in then I would not force it up to a scoop in

the first three days (!!)...I know you are anxious to see the surges but you'll

get there up to the full dosage even if it takes another week or so. We've

heard this from others. The kids do get used to the flavor and texture and

again in most cases in about a week -really. Probably because the body really

will know what's good for it if given the chance to eat normal healthy foods.

We are hearing how kids that were picky eaters are less picky once on NV too. I

would only do the force as a last resort and in most cases I don't think it will

be needed. Most of us figure out a way -I know if we had to we would have with

our boys -but honestly there are so many ways to outsmart kids, and since I know

some people don't like that either -what I'm trying to say is that the child is

happy with his or her own decision to eat or drink what we know is good for them

without them always knowing something is good for them. I used so much reverse

psych on Tanner " You can't have that unless you eat your dinner for. That's a

treat " kind of thing. It's like the old Mikey commercial for Life cereal where

they say " when you bring Life home don't tell them it's one of those nutritious

cereals... "

I'm sure you tried all the recipes here

http://pursuitofresearch.org/serving_suggestions.html (have you?) so I looked

online for a kid friendly protein shake and found the following. Of course she

talks about soy protein and soy milk, you can of course just add instead the NV

and use any type of milk -almond seems to be most popular here. My family uses

that too.

A Nutritious High Calorie Chocolate Banana Protein Shake For Skinny Children

Sometimes no matter what you feed your children, they just don't gain weight.

Children in the lower percentile could be light for many different reasons.

Genetics often play a role, if you and your family tend to be tiny, then your

kids might be more prone to be tiny as well. Sometimes low weight gain in

children can be linked to food allergies like Celiac disease, childhood

diabetes, medications or stress. If you feel that genetics are the reason behind

the low weight gain, that can be resolved by adding high calorie foods to your

child's diet. If you think that there is another underlying cause, you should

make an appointment with your child's pediatrician to better understand your

child's weight issues.

If your child is one of those tiny, skinny, boney kids you might think about

giving them junk food just to gain weight. Of course, you probably know that is

a bad idea...and you probably know that it doesn't work, it just makes them

unhealthy. My children are skinny for several different reasons, so I came up

with my Nutritious High Calorie Shake for Skinny Children.

This shake is great for breakfast, an afternoon snack or dessert. This recipe

serves two children and is actually great for adults as well as children and can

be modified in several different ways to suit you or your children's taste. This

is our family's favorite version and is made in our household at least once a

day, if not more.

Chocolate Banana Protein Shake: Serves 2 young children (or Adults!)

Ingredients you will need:

* Yogurt, vanilla or strawberry work best for this recipe (I usually buy the

larger containers)

* 1-2 bananas, depending on size & preference

* Whole Milk

* Soy Protein Powder (I like to use the chocolate flavor)

* Optional Ingredients:

* Wheat Germ

* Blueberries

* Strawberries

* Hershey's Syrup

* You will also need a blender.

1. Start with 8 ounces of yogurt in the bottom of the blender, 8 oz is also 1

cup.

2. Break up 1-2 bananas and add them to the yogurt. If you break up the bananas

into a few pieces it helps to get them blended better so there are very few or

no chunks. This is also the time to add a tablespoon or so of wheat germ, a

handful of blueberries or strawberries. If you add a lot of other fruit you are

probably only going to need 1 banana as your shake will get too thick.

3. Fill the blender to the 24 ounce line on your blender with Whole Milk, 24 oz

is also 3 cups. If I am using Vanilla flavored protein powder this is when I

would add the Hershey's Syrup

4. Add two full servings of protein powder. (More or less to taste)

5. Blend and Serve.

Fun Variations, Ideas and Substitutions:

* Freezing the fruit overnight turns your shake into a smoothie!

* Adding Yo-Baby Yogurt will increase fat & calories.

* I love this shake too, but I don't drink cow's milk, I substitute whole milk

with Vanilla Soy Milk. The Vanilla protein powder also tastes great with orange

juice instead of milk.

This recipe, as described here, contains in each serving (approximately):

772 Calories

119 grams of fat

42 grams of protein

This of course all varies depending on the specific types of fruit, milk &

yogurt.

* This shake has been approved by my children's pediatrician. If you have any

concerns about this recipe or your child's health it is best to talk to your

child's pediatrician.

I've read, but haven't tried the recipes yet. She has some feeding issues, so

not sure if she'd be able to handle a rice krispy treat. I do want to try the no

bake cookie though. We're sorting through her food allergy triggers and are

trying to stay away from a few sources. I double checked and today was day #7,

so I would think she'd be used to it by now. I guess I'll keep trying with

smaller amounts and work my way up. I figure any amount in her is better than

nothing. She doesn't like almond milk but I might try chocolate rice milk and

see if she'll take that.

I gave the write-up to my chiropractor to get his opinion. I am interested to

see what he thinks. And I got into a big discussion with my mother last night.

She was concerned that I was giving the kids a weight loss supplement that

hasn't been tested long term. I explained to her as best I could about the

whole food sources, etc, but she isn't convinced. She wants them to get a flu

shot, but not take this. Our opinions are quite different. My husband I have

been taking it for breakfast, and he has been feeling a lot better and is more

energetic. I'm taking it slowly and not on the full dose.

We'll keep trying.

let your mom know they market it for weight management since obesity

and diabetes are such tremendous health problems here. Not many adults that are

too skinny. However in our society the problem is even if overweight most are

undernourished and full of toxins/drugs...ama if you want to use the sanskrit

ayurvedic word.

If one looks at just the ingredients of NV however

http://pursuitofresearch.org/ingredients.html it's mainly a very expensive and

hard to purchase anywhere 100 percent natural and 100 percent casein free whey

protein isolate (which is where all the essential amino acids come in that are

today linked to so much in research to neuro repair...and the choice between the

two studies -one was with a diet rich in essential amino acids (read it all of

which are in NV) which showed actual neuro " repair " and the newer one is a

mixture of drugs and synthetic amino acids (translate looking to make this into

a drug and it's my opinion there are always going to be side effects when you

don't just work with food " medicine " ) and to me the results from the first are

more impressive- but this second study doesn't even mention the first in the bit

I can read -perhaps they do somewhere off the net. But show these to mom

http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?topic=15272 & uid=115029735601

NV contains no caffeine or drugs or synthetics. Every single ingredient is a

food that will " support the metabolic system " That translates to if you need to

lose weight you will and if you need to gain you will. But try to market a

product to the masses that says " if you need to gain weight you will " when just

the opposite -the average American will be afraid to try it thinking " I don't

care if I " need to gain " weight- I don't want to gain weight " And it works the

way it should in that now I have seen it with my own eyes with my two boys. Yes

the majority of people I know have lost weight because they needed to...but my

mom who has celiac and was underweight, my Aunt Leona before she died, and my

son Dakota who is a picky eater that has a gag reflex that can be set off with a

whisper. In fact if you read the story about my Aunt prior to her death she was

on her death bed twice and Hospice and the clergy and all thought " this is is "

as she was even if eating no longer utilizing the food -continuing to lose

weight. She not only put on weight on NV -she started getting better and her

appetite increased from what I understand for other foods substantially. And

Liralen I know you asked -or think it was you that asked are the aids allowed to

come to work with the flu? I'm in Florida and my Aunt was in NYC and my mom and

family live in NJ and none of us were there every day. It was her wish to die

in her apartment- and in the end my mother didn't want me to say anything to any

of the aids because we really don't know which one brought it in first as one

blamed the other and then they all got sick with it -which again was ultimately

killed my Aunt due to the cough and fluids that went into her chest an fever,

her lack of wanting medications etc.

But anyway off on a tangent- point being I have so many personal stories myself

for weight gain that anyone who thinks NV is just for weight loss has not read

the information about what it is. An we have stories about this right on the

testimony page how the child gains while the mom lost weight

http://pursuitofresearch.org/testimonials.html

My boys primary pediatrician Dr. Bowling has seen for himself first hand

as well how my younger 14 year old lost the 15 pounds he needed to while my 16

year old gained just about the same amount -17 pounds he desperately needed, and

both shot up like I sprinkle human miracle-gro as if there was such a thing on

them. Both my boys now are about 6 feet tall and they just look amazing -so

much healthier in both cases.

And nobody is more skeptical than my brother who is a partner for a

maritime law firm on Wall Street and who analyses everything. He too pulled the

" weight loss " card on my with NV and kept saying " how come that is all I can

find on it outside of your website? " (because the manufacturer/world renowned

MDs behind it http://pursuitofresearch.org/advisors.html did not create it for

our kids or any kids -I am the one that discovered the therapeutic aspects of

this due to putting my son Tanner on it that needed to lose a few pounds and

checked it out prior to doing so with multiple professionals and all in the

company are fully aware of my websites, discovery -but as Mr. Bill Farley told

me " I want you to just be aware that we can't as a company say anything until

this is validated with research which can take a few years " ) My brother however

when he saw my boys, just like everyone else who sees them...his mouth dropped

open -and again the pediatrician checking the chart is just as blown away. This

for sure " supported the metabolic system " of both boys- and we eat organic -live

on the water lots of fresh fish -they take fish oils we very rarely eat any junk

food -and yet we had these type of results in not just surges which that is

amazing too http://pursuitofresearch.org/pursuit.htm but growth. I'm not even

kidding it's like the one mom just wrote -it's almost like you could swear you

are seeing them grow while you are looking at them! He now has his family on NV

too.

As far as the flu shot -my mom gets hers -my Aunt up till this year got hers

because they are high risk but our entire family has yet to get one. If we

needed to for some reason I would- I'm not against it at all costs...but I am

for good nutrition at all costs. So yes guess I am getting to the extreme with

NV because honestly? I'm starting to think anyone anywhere that takes it unless

they are allergic will notice benefits -and base on the surges in academics we

are seeing -I suspect that will happen for anyone on it at any age as well. I'm

just glad that it's being used primarily by the communication impaired special

needs group because our kids so need that break due to some of the stigmas for

learning that are embedded in some educators mind due to probably outdated or

skewed research. (IMO based on what we see in this group...and that was even

before NV!!)
