Guest guest
Reprinted with Saul's permission from the main list: also: - a simple google search turned up a website for the product replete w/ photographs and all the info http://www.dentalconcepts.com/html/traveler.html you can order it online: http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jhtml?CATID=100206 & PRODID=357299 http://www.healthcare21.com/PPF/pf_id/DCS001/dept_id/43/parent_id/39/Product ..a sp Dear Colleagues, (Especially Dean), This is a note about the BEST dental equipment i have ever found! It was at my local CVS here in Rochester -- it cost ca. $3.50 for TWO of them -- and they last forever. What is it? It's called " Doctor's Traveler " , Plaque and T?artar Remover, Value Twin Pack. It's made in China, lasts forever, and is distributed by " Dental concepts " of Paramus, NJ 07652. (No, this is not a brand name. It may be hard to find -- and it may not be always available -- so I bought two packs, which gives me four of them). What is it? It's a little hard to describe: It has a steel hook on top, looking like some dental equipmentr that I've seen in dental cleaners' offices, and dentists' offices. The hook is not sharp at the tip -- although the tip is very narrow, thickening a little to the base; it's shape is that of a partially flattened half-moon. The hook appears to be made of some form of stainless steel. Here's a partial quote from the instructions: Food removal Start with the Pik at your gum line between the teeth. Gently pull the Traveller away from the gum line to remove impacted food. The point of the Traveller should be at a 90 degree angle to the teeth (see figure 1). Note: There are alos instructions for plaque removal, etc. The device is FULLY PORTABLE -- each of them comes witha cover; one of them fits comfortably in my back pocket; the other is at home, with my toothbrush and interdenetal brushes (I don't use flax anymore -- the interdental brushes removed the need. But THIS device can replace both! And it's thin enough to fit between anyone's teeth, no matter how close! At first, it might scare the beginner -- the steel hook! It's nothing to an interdental brush user -- one easily steers th hook, by feel, to the right places between the teeth. You can fully clean your teeth, by pulling this little device from your back pocket, using it, which removes all annoying particulate matter after a meal. One could finish off, at home, with toothbrushing (periferally is enough, after using this, for me), and then I use mouthwash (optional)) You rinse the hook with soap water before covering and storing in your pocket; use alcohol to sterilize, once a week. I strongly recommend this product. Sincerely yours, Saul
