Family Resource Specialist Job Openings

Serve your community as a SPAN Family Resource Specialist! SPAN seeks

part-time Family Resource Specialists (FRSs) to work with the Project

Director, partners, SCHS CMUs, Medical Home pilots, health providers, SPAN

staff, and family volunteers to provide high-quality, culturally competent

services leading to positive outcomes for CYSHCN and their families and

Adolescent Literacy Resources

AdLit.org is a national multimedia project offering information and

resources to the parents and educators of struggling adolescent readers and

writers. AdLit.org is an educational initiative of WETA, the flagship public

television and radio station in the nation's capital, and is funded by

Carnegie Corporation of New York and by the Ann B. and L. Friedman

Family Foundation.

Child and Youth with Special Health Care Needs

The Maternal and Child Health Library released a new edition of the

knowledge path, Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs. The

knowledge path points to resources that analyze data, describe effective

programs, and report on policy and research aimed at developing systems of

care for children and youth with special health care needs that are

family-centered, community-based, coordinated, and culturally competent.

Assistive Technology Resources on YouTube

Youtube is being used for all kinds of sharing of videos on the web. Just

type in " assistive technology, " or " assistive technology autism, " and you'll

see how many different kinds of students use these technologies. To see

What Happens to High School Dropouts Who Return to School?

WestEd's SchoolsMovingUp website will feature another free webinar, " What

Happens to High School Dropouts Who Return to School? " on Tuesday, December

8, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time (1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Eastern Time). See the webinars page on SchoolsMovingUp for further

information, including specific topics to be addressed by this webinar.

Reducing Behavior Problems in the Elementary School Classroom

You are invited to participate in a webinar sponsored by the LRE-Part B

Community of Practice on the topic, " Reducing Behavior Problems in the

Elementary School Classroom " based on the Institute of Education Sciences

(IES) Practice Guide.

The 1 & 1/2 hour webinar will be held on Monday, December 14 at 3:00 PM

FLU.gov is a one-stop resource with the latest updates on the H1N1 flu. To

look up where to get vaccinated in your state, visit the Vaccine Locator.

This information is updated regularly as more doses are shipped each week.

An additional resource is the CDC hotline, 1-800-CDC-INFO (1-800-232-4636),

which offers services in English and Spanish, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
