Guest guest
Hi - I'm so glad is doing well and feeling better. His reaction to abruptly stopping the NV makes me curious if the reactions people have been noting when the NV is stopped abruptly may be more of a withdrawl reaction (drug companies call it a discontinuation syndrome) than " regression " ? Turmeric in NV is a natural MAOI (antidepressant drug that impacts multiple neurotransmitters - another example of one is St. 's Wort) - I am wondering if the aryuvedic medicinal combination may have a pretty significant discontinuation syndrome associated with it? Would love to hear people's thoughts or from the medical professionals who make NV. Emotional lability, decreased sleep, and sensitivity to sensory input are things that can be connected to the abrupt discontinuation of a medication - and even though naturally occurring, NV is Aryuvedic Medicine. If it has a therapeutic effect and is given in a particular dose, then to me that's medication. While it may seem like semantics, I think words are important, and that it's misleading to call a substance that can possibly cause increased depakote levels or decrease seizures to the point of getting off prescribed seizure medication " just food " . Word Origin & History of the word - medication c.1600, from M.Fr. médication , from L. medicationem (nom. medicatio ) " healing, cure, " from medicare, medicari " medicate, heal, cure, " from medicus " healing " (see medical). The verb medicate " to treat medicinally " is from 1620s. Online Etymology Dictionary, © 2010 Harper I Look forward to hearing people's thoughts! Diane > > > > > > Hi everyone, so far so good, has been totally off his seizure meds. 3 wks. now! But I wanted to let all know that last week we had 3 days of h#ll, because I ran out of NV and he did not have any at all for 4 days. NOT GOOD!!! He was having emotional meltdowns, he was super sensitive to any sounds, like even if I was opening a bag of something, the crinkling was making him cringe! He only got about 3 solid hrs. of sleep each night, because he kept waking and the ceiling fan was scaring him. It was crazy and I felt sooo bad for him. His speech definitely declined. Needless to say I ordered extra so this does NOT happen again. As soon as he had 1 NV drink he started to get back to himself.I just wanted to let everyone know what happened to us when we ran out. If anyone would like to contact me my # is 631-447-0615 in New York. > > >
