New funny Tanner update

It has become so normal now for Tanner to speak just like an adult as far as

complex thoughts that I no longer am shocked to have in depth conversations with

him about the news, his thoughts and feelings or opinions on various topics etc.

But last night something happened that was super funny and I'd say a new level

of " huh?! "

My older son Dakota who is ADHD and brilliant typically has his NV with

breakfast and for lunch as he wasn't eating lunch before as he would just hang

out and talk with his friends. So it works out good as we figure now he's at

least getting nutrients at lunch where he wasn't eating at all prior (this is my

too skinny super picky high gag reflex son). We've seen incredible surges in

Dakota in school and focus and conversational skills -he was always bright, but

beyond that now for the first time responsible about homework which OMG never

before- he was last minute kid if he even remembered at all - and went from a

lazy B to straight As and even above A (didn't know that is possible) with notes

and even two certificates from his teachers praising his improvement... and from

a pediatrician standpoint at 16 years old he's thrilled too as Dakota has gained

a much needed 17 pounds, grew from 5 10 to 6 foot in about 4 months on NV.

But it hasn't been easy. Dakota looks as NV as something for " special needs " as

he hears me or Tanner on the phone with parents and professionals from this

group who care for children, teens and adults now too with autism, seizures,

apraxia, traumatic brain injury, genetic and chromosomal issues etc. and how

it's helped. Dakota says he " doesn't need it " it " does nothing for him " about

the NV...as bright as he is even in light of all I just pointed out in changes

in months.

So Dakota is complete opposite of Tanner who is an NV cheerleader and won't miss

a serving. Tanner has gotten on the phone with some of your children to tell

them how much NV has helped him (he will share about speech, school work and how

he can now jump over a bush :) There are most of his surges

http://pursuitofresearch.org/pursuit.html and his advice to kids that don't like

the taste " mix it with something you like to eat or drink and if you still don't

like it just hold your nose and take it anyway because nutriiveda has been

really good for me. " Tanner will make his shake on his own and if he sleeps

over someone's house will take his powder and a shaker cup with him and I've

heard feedback from the parents how impressed they are with his " diligence " to

take the NV each AM and PM.

So cut to last night. Dakota had a shake in the AM and then was out all day

with his friends and came home last night. My husband is out of town right now

so I was making dinner and said to Dakota " Dakota you only had one shake today.

Do you want me to make you another one now? " Dakota said " No " and Tanner

immediately cuts in and says " Mom you can't ask Dakota if he wants his shake you

just have to make it for him. He doesn't know what's good for him and you're

the mother so you have to just make it for him, don't ask him! " So I'm standing

there feeling a bit silly that I just got a lecture from my 14 year old about my

16 year old. I said " OK you're right Tan, Dakota I'm making your shake now "

and Dakota said " OK " That was kind of funny too -that Dakota didn't disagree or

argue with his little brother!

Tanner has been on the new product Accell one a day for the past few days. The

only difference he notices is that in basketball he's typically exhausted from

all the exercise they make him do- but prior to last night I had said to one of

my friends " I don't know if I'll see any further surges in Tanner. I mean he's

already better than normal in so many areas -that would be like you or me

drinking it and expecting to become more " normal " and I laughed.

Is the Accell helping more? Just as when I first started Tanner on NV one year

ago I don't know. I do know that the product is safe and it has a very

interesting composition -including the natural fruit digestive enzymes and B

vitamins. I am very intrigued however with the herb Brami (Bacopa monnieri) and

it's numerous clinically validated links to helping support the neurological

function for motor planning, short and long term memory, etc. even seizures!

Here's one study from Sciencedirect but I encourage all of you to explore more

Abstract

In the present study, the effects of Bacopa monnieri and its active component,

bacoside A, on motor deficit and alterations of GABA receptor functional

regulation in the cerebellum of epileptic rats were investigated. Scatchard

analysis of [3H]GABA and [3H]bicuculline in the cerebellum of epileptic rats

revealed a significant decrease in Bmax compared with control. Real-time

polymerase chain reaction amplification of GABAA receptor subunits " GABAAά1,

GABAAά5, and GABAAδ " was downregulated (P < 0.001) in the cerebellum of

epileptic rats compared with control rats. Epileptic rats exhibit deficits in

radial arm and Y-maze performance. Treatment with B. monnieri and bacoside A

reversed these changes to near-control levels. Our results suggest that changes

in GABAergic activity, motor learning, and memory deficit are induced by the

occurrence of repetitive seizures. Treatment with B. monnieri and bacoside A

prevents the occurrence of seizures thereby reducing the impairment of GABAergic

activity, motor learning, and memory deficit.

Keywords: Epilepsy; Bacopa monnieri; Bacoside A; Pilocarpine; Carbamazepine;

GABA receptor

And here is what I have about it on the page we have for the Accell

Brahmi (Bacopa Monnieri) 10:1 Extract

* Enhances Cognitive Ability

* Improves Both Short Term And Long Term Memory

* Improves Motor Learning Ability

* Strengthens Adrenal Process

* Anti Stress Properties

Has been used for centuries in Ayurveda for its ability to decrease cognitive

stress. This herb supports clarity and focus. Brahmi also helps improve the

physical processes involved in relaxation.

For all of the professionals in this group that know about herbs -all are 10:1

extract which the doctors told me would be found to be impressive. (at this

point nothing that they come out with will impress me more -I'm already more

impressed than I ever dreamed!)

I read these stories and they seem so world's apart from where I am now.

Therapy and fish pills have helped but I can't even imagine having a full

conversation with my son like this. I pray my son will be able to communicate

as well as your son Tanner one day. God bless. Kate
