Guest guest
Hi, My son is almost 10years old. Started him on NV 2 wks ago. He had some great surges at beginning with imaginary play and pointing different things out to me when we were driving in the car. However he must have had a reaction to the whey in the Nv. At 3 years old he had extremely elevated titers to whey. I am very sad because he has gotten a really bad cold with cough stuffy nose and a stye on his eye. I took him off NV for a couple of days and when I restarted him yesterday, his cold/allergy symptoms got worse again. I ad him on 2 1/2 scoops/day and was going to increase him when I had to stop. I hope he isn't allergic to it because when I took off the NV He kind of regressed. Did this ever happen to anybody? Any ideas. He hadn't had a cold for a year until a week after he was on NV, so I think he could be having a reaction. Thanks, Sue
Guest guest
I would check with the doctor or even go to an allergist -it's worth knowing for sure. Saying that to me it's sounds more like he's sick then allergy because while runny nose and congestion are signs of allergy, the stye would probably be from staphylococcal bacteria. Also whey allergy while uncommon if allergic and consumed you'd know within minutes to a day. It sounds to me like you had him on NV for a week to two prior to him getting sick? Mucus from allergy is clear -if it's bacterial it wouldn't be. Do you know if the mucus is clear or not? What would I do if I were you? Stop the NV not just for a few days but until he is 100 percent better-even if that's 2 weeks from now. And then I'd start him again at just a half dosage and see if he shows signs of getting sick again. Either way I'd take him to the doctor too -for sure you want to know if he is allergic to whey as that's pretty rare but if he is from what I understand it's a different and more serious allergy than the common casein allergy or intolerance. You can also make a paste of NV and water and apply it to his arm and cover it with a bandage and see if a rash develops from percutaneous transmission. Have you taken him to the doctor yet? Let us know and good luck -hope your baby feels better soon! (and I hope for him and you that this is just him being sick and not food allergy!!!) =====
Guest guest
, I have stopped the NV as you suggested. He isn't quite as sharp as he was on NV. His cough is dissopating. I think he had a cold and is taking a little time to get over it. He coughs now just at night when he comes in from outside. He has another week and a half until we try it again. I hope when we try it again, he doesn't get any cold like symptoms again because I was liking what I was seeing. Thanks, Sue > > I would check with the doctor or even go to an allergist -it's worth knowing for sure.
