Guest guest
Anni, thanks for sharing. We all are wowed by it. , I totally forgot about the " humor " part. Thanks for bringing this up. Varun loves to watch Wiggles. Of late he has been really " enjoying " watching their videaos. I did not realise till yesterday evening - he was involved with the videos - laughing out loud when he saw some funny movements!!! IT took me a second to realise that he was actually " into " the video. This is huge for us. Previously he used to sit watch / rewind/ fastforward etc...but there was no immotions to it [hope you can get my point - short of words], but now he is immitating their movements and laughing out-loud to some funny scenes!!! Remember how i told you how I had increased it to 3 scoops for him. I generally give one scoop with his breakfast. Then 2 scoops after he comes home from school or sometimes during luch. We got all positive feedbacks/reports from school especially more when he was in 3 scoops. Yesterday i did not give him the 1 scoop with his breakfast[we were running late...so couldn't squeeze the 1 scoop]. When I picked him up, his teacher said he was all-over the place!! she told me she felt she had a different student in her classroom!!! How bizzare is that???? I am really puzzled and amazed how quickly we see the change with or without the nutriiveda. You know how I have been trying out various combos. Now I am just going to stop experimenting...because we have seen really more improvements ,involvement and awareness with the nutriveda. We are into 3 scoops from now on. But hats-off to you to get us all rolling and finding the connection to nutriiveda and our kids. Waiting to hear more improvements from all our kids. sowmya > > Anni thank you SO MUCH for sharing here! I also wanted to add the other things that you shared with me as I believe all of us need to start keeping a journal as the surges appear to be in specific areas that we are all seeing (I'll list them below) The points you made to me that really stuck with me > > 1. Your Prompt therapist who is normally " quiet and controlled " not only called you in a way that she never did before -but that she had " tears in her eyes " when she told you!!!! > > 2. When I was talking to you about the increase in sense of humor being reported you told me about how your son was crawling on your back laughing or something but had never done that before due to his motor planning (please share here as I probably wrote it wrong what he did!) > > 3. Your husband who was a skeptic (which seems to be par for the course for most of us to start huh??) said he sees the change in him! > > I believe what we need to do - what I'm going to try to start doing -is compiling the results we are all seeing because I was told that there may be a interest to validate what we are seeing with research...I mean we have Dr. Chopra and Dr. Simon and all who I'm sure are just as shocked as anyone else about what is going on. There has to be a logical explanation as to why this is working...and so quickly. I mean a day to a few days? That's crazy right? Crazy in a good way I mean. Anyway please everyone start sharing child's age -diagnosis with your reports. I can put everyone together with first name and first initial of last name and let me know if it's OK if any of the doctors wanted to contact you. > > Areas to look for surges in (in most cases multiple areas at once) Please keep a journal to report surges in these or any other areas I may have forgotten or missed. > > SPEECH articulation, complexity and sophistication of sentence structure > LANGUAGE better understanding of written and spoken word, development of better reading and writing skills > ACADEMICS/LEARNING reported surges in all areas of school > FINE AND GROSS MOTOR SKILLS also multi tasking > SENSE OF HUMOR both catching subtle humor and wanting to make others laugh -joking around > AWARENESS OF SURROUNDINGS (for autism) reported following gaze and more interactions > FACIAL EXPRESSIONS (for those with oral apraxia) instead of blank stares when not engaged in conversation (non verbal expressions) > FOCUS on task, more willing to listen and try > MULTI TASKING (for apraxia as this is something typically not done or done well) > SOCIAL wanting to participate with others via play and communication > MOOD reported seems " happier " for a number > DEVELOPMENTAL CATCHING UP for those that never went through stages -reportedly going through them for the first time. > > Also please report for anyone who ISN'T seeing any surges. Guest guest
Sow how long have you used the nurtiveda now? I still have not shared with my child's pediatrician due to the weather but will next week. How old is your son and what did your child's doctor say? Guest guest
Kate, I started during the christmas break with 1 scoop. Then increased to 2 scoops during 2nd week - he was a little hyper..even after a week he did not settle down. So I stopped nutriiveda for 3 days [he just regressed]. Re-introduced it with 11/2scoops. He was back in track. He was on 1 1/2 scoops for almost 3 weeks. Last week I increased it to 3 scoops. My son is 7 and weighs 50lbs. He has neither lost or gained weight. I did not consult anyone other than my grandma to confirm about the ayurvedic botanicals. she said that it is ok to give those botanicals to young kids and it was a safe combination[the botanicals were complimentary to each other]. As far as the other ingredients go it had the same percentage of ingredients to the ingredients in " MinerAll " supplement which I was giving my son!!! Good Luck, sowmya > > > > > > Anni thank you SO MUCH for sharing here! Guest guest
sowmya, Could you perhaps share how you are getting the nutriveda into your son? I received my shipment last week, all excited, and am having trouble getting it into him. He's 10 and is a great eater (i'm very lucky) but he is fighting me every step of the way when it comes to the nutriveda. He's never done this before, so i'm really baffled. He takes the fish oils off the spoon.  He eats things that 99 percent of kids won't touch (sushi, escargot, stinky cheese ect)so, that he's not eating something that i think is delicious is stressing me and i have tried everything so far. he now tells me " i want a real yogourt "  any advice would be helpful. thanks so much sandy ________________________________ From: sow <sowk721@...> Sent: Thu, February 11, 2010 11:32:02 PM Subject: [ ] Re: OMG!!!!! - xtra update from our side.  Kate, I started during the christmas break with 1 scoop. Guest guest
Sandy just wanted to share that my two boys had a very different initial reaction to the nutriiveda. While Tanner didn't love it to start as I shared- kind of tasted to me too like healthy chocolate -maybe too much like dark chocolate (which is why my husband thought we were nuts and thought it was delicious) Tanner would drink it but we doctored it up by adding other stuff to the drink - Tanner LOVES it now, will drink it mixed with just water even - and asks for it. Dakota on the other hand it was from the start pulling teeth. He was always full when you asked him if he would drink it -and said he didn't need it. Even if friend Josh (the one who has ADHD who went from a problem student to a straight A student in about 6 weeks) was one day over yelling at Dakota to " DRINK YOUR NUTRIIVEDA DAKOTA! " Well...two things- one is that while to start Dakota said his improvement in grades from Bs to As had nothing to do with the nutriiveda but that he " just decided to focus more on his school work " as time went on when I asked Dakota if he wanted some nutriiveda instead of saying " not now " he would say " sure " We also know that Dakota likes the vanilla better than the chocolate while Tanner won't even drink the vanilla mixed in anything at all -hates the vanilla. Dakota thinks Tanner is nuts now and is constantly saying to Tanner " Tanner just try this it's delicious " (haha makes me laugh to think of that) but Tanner will ONLY drink the vanilla if we run out of chocolate -but complains and complains. I will drink either flavor and know some really good drink recipes which I've shared some of them. Sowmya I know found her son loves the vanilla mixed with was it mango or papaya juice?? Anyway it's like a fruit smoothie. It's going to depend upon the child but it's not something you have to take all at once. You can sprinkle it on food like cereal a bit here and there. It's actually pretty funny to hear that it's in any case that difficult to get the nutriiveda into the kids when we've done the fish oils for years...but here's the difference with an older child Sandy. Talk to your son. This is what I did with Dakota who was my son that was so resistant for the first week or so on it. Dakota still wasn't wanting it -but in his case he KNOWS 2 of the 3 teens who went to straight A students in about a month and it still didn't really make a difference -but I told him he just has to try it. Dakota has been on the nutriiveda now for a few weeks and about 2 days ago -Dakota and I were talking and I said " honestly Dakota I know you say you are doing better in school because you want to -but do you notice ANY difference from the nutriiveda? " And he said " I'm talking more " (psst read my message from day one on nutriiveda -could have told any of you that!!!) Just remember -it probably would have been much easier to get junk food into any of our kids -their systems and ours are warped to what is healthy in most cases. Once on nutriiveda for a week or so -it's no longer a battle -that's what I found anyway and even for me (I love it now -honestly think it's the most delicious chocolate drink ever and used to love the frozen hot chocolate drinks at Serendipity 2 in NYC) Below are a bunch of whey isolate protein drink recipes I found online -be creative with what your child loves or is allowed to eat or drink...this doesn't even include what to do with food -keep in mind again you can sprinkle it into cereal or mix it into just about anything -have to run but will look for other things that look fun (I've already shared the pumpkin one for the vanilla which is awesome -and the reeces peanut butter cup made with the chocolate and organic peanut butter is a huge standby...oh and also to start may want to add some agave if your child needs extra sweetener (and yes some -probably many are now using NesQuick!) Shake it Up with these Lean, Healthy, Great-Tasting Protein Shake Recipes: Basic Protein shake Recipe: * 1 to 2 scoops of 100% Natural Vanilla or Chocolate Whey Protein Powder * 1 to 1 1/2 cups of pure water or skim milk * 1 cup of fresh/frozen (unsweetened) fruit * Add ice for extra thickness * Flavored Shake Recipes: 1 to 2 scoops of Vanilla Whey Protein Powder * 1- 1 1/2 cups of pure water or skim milk * 1/2 -1 chopped green apple * 1/4 cup raw almonds * Add ice for extra thickness * Tropical Dream 1 to 2 scoops of Chocolate Whey Protein Powder * Add: 1/2-1 cup of frozen pineapple * Add ice for extra thickness * Blue Mango Heaven 1 to 2 scoops of Vanilla Whey Protein Powder * 1- 1 1/2 cups of pure water or skim milk * 1/4-1/2 cup frozen mango * 1/3-1/2 cup blueberries * Add ice for extra thickness * Almond Peach Delight 1 to 2 scoops of Vanilla Whey Protein Powder * 1- 1 1/2 cups of pure water or skim milk * 1/2-1 cup frozen peaches * 1/2 tsp almond extract * 1/2 tsp cinnamon * Add ice for extra thickness * Melon madness 1 to 2 scoops of Vanilla Whey Protein Powder * 1- 1 1/2 cups of pure water or skim milk * 1/4-1/2 cup frozen watermelon * Add ice for extra thickness * Blueberry Vanilla Pear 1 to 2 scoops of Vanilla Whey Protein Powder * 1- 1 1/2 cups of pure water or skim milk * 1/4-1/2 cup frozen blueberries * 1/4-1/2 cup chopped pear * Add ice for extra thickness * Chocoholics Delight 1 to 2 scoops of Chocolate Whey Protein Powder * 1 1/2 cups of pure water or skim milk * 1/4-1/2 cup of raspberries * 1/4-1/2 frozen banana * Add ice for extra thickness * Strawberry-Mango Bliss 1 to 2 scoops of Vanilla Whey Protein Powder * 1- 1 1/2 cups of pure water or skim milk * 1/4-1/2 cup frozen strawberries * 1/4-1/2 cup frozen mango slices * Add ice for extra thickness * Vanilla Nut 1 to 2 scoops of Vanilla Whey Protein Powder * 1- 1 1/2 cups of pure water or skim milk * 1/4 cup raw organic oatmeal * 1 tablespoon raw cashew butter * 1/2 tsp cinnamon * Add ice for extra thickness * Piña Colada 1 to 2 scoops of Vanilla Whey Protein Powder * 1- 1 1/2 cups of pure water or skim milk * 1/2-1 cup frozen pineapple pieces * 1/2 tsp coconut extract * Add ice for extra thickness * Apple Cinnamon 1 to 2 scoops of Vanilla Whey Protein Powder * 1-1 1/2 cups of pure water or skim milk * 1/2-1 cup of chopped frozen apple * 1 tsp cinnamon * Add ice for extra thickness * Banapple Blast 1 to 2 scoops of Vanilla Whey Protein Powder * 1- 1 1/2 cups of pure water or skim milk * 1/2 small green apple * 1/2 frozen banana * 1/2 tsp cinnamon * Add ice for extra thickness * Choco-Banana Nut 1 to 2 scoops of Chocolate Whey Protein Powder * 1-1 1/2 cups of pure water or skim milk * 1/2 frozen banana * 1 tablespoon of raw cashew butter * Add ice for extra thickness * Apricot Fantasy 1 to 2 scoops of Vanilla Whey Protein Powder * 1- 1 1/2 cups of pure water or skim milk * 1- 2 small apricots (fresh or frozen) * 1/4 cup raw almonds * 1/2 tsp almond extract * Add ice for extra thickness * Raspberry Rhubarb Magic 1 to 2 scoops of Chocolate Whey Protein Powder * 1-1 1/2 cups of pure water or skim milk * 1/4-1/2 cup frozen chopped rhubarb * 1/4-1/2 cup frozen raspberries * Add ice for extra thickness * Cherry Ripe 1 to 2 scoops of Chocolate Whey Protein Powder * 1- 1 1/2 cups of pure water or skim milk * 1/4-1/2 frozen banana * 1/4-1/2 cup frozen black cherries * Add ice for extra thickness * Coffee Lovers Delight 1 to 2 scoops of Chocolate Whey Protein Powder * 1-1 1/2 cups of pure water or skim milk * 1/4-1/2 cup raw almonds or cashews * 1-2 teaspoons instant decaffeinated coffee * Add ice for extra thickness * Breezy-Freezy Shake 1 to 2 scoops of Vanilla Whey Protein Powder * 1- cups of pure water or skim milk * 1 cup reduced fat mango yogurt * 1/4 of frozen pineapple * 1/2 - Stir in apple sauce, protein powder, and almonds. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Pour a small amount of non-fat, almond, or soy milk if desired. Add Stevia. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PS for the last one I was told NOT to cook with it -may compromise the protein or amino acids which could be what is helping. I'd add the powder after it's just warm not hot. Happy Valentine's Weekend everyone! =====
Guest guest
Thamks for the recipes !!!! I'll certainly be printing them off but will more probably be for me than my son. We've had the talk with him many times and usually that does the trick, but this time he's digging in his heels. I guess i'll try going a little slower with it for now and build up. He is very stubborn about drinking liquids.( I swear he's part camel!) but i'm not giving up on this. He inherited that stubborness from me, so this should be interesting! I do mix it with nesquick and pour that over ice cream, but i only get barely 1 scoop into him that way. I just find it funny that he won't eat it in the yogourt, i thought it was really yummy. But then again, this is a child who doesn't like cake of any kinds and prefers yucky tasting cough syrup to kid flavored stuff.....sigh. So i will be continuing this, just at a much slower pace. And i will be continuing my talks with him about it. thanks for your support!! sandy
