Guest guest
Hello Razel, Early Intervention does not like to publish this, but if you talk to your Service Coordinator, they will help you schedule an appointment with a Developmental Pediatrician and it IS covered by EI (at least it is in Illinois.) You will have to do it quickly if you want to get it covered by EI as it takes some time to get in to these kinds of doctors and you only have 6 months before your son ages out of EI. We just had our appointment last Friday and received his formal diagnoses: Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS.) I hope this helps. My son now is 30 months , his previous therapist suspected him having apraxia but was not able to make a final diagnosis because he is not yet imitating , but now he is making some progress he is trying to imitate some animal sounds and some letter sounds only when we ask him to do so and not all the time he will do it. the only words he is using right now is daddy and fish ,the rest he can say are only sounds . Pls help me what to do to help my son , we already went to a neurologist but he did not discuss about apraxia , i realy dont know what to do? Him being unable to talk is my major source of stress and really i dont know what to do. He is under early intervention right now but we are still working for our papers so a new therapist can come to our house and do the therapy. Iam not driving so our only option is to have sombody come to our house. As moms of kids with apraxia or speech delay pls help me what to do? here are my questions? Should we go and see a developmental pediatrician? my insurance does not cover if the reason for coming is because of developmental deay so for some of you who went to developmental pediatrician what codes/ reason should we use so it wil be covered by our insurance? About the fish oil ,can i use a regular fish oil for adult? we have a tight budget right now and i cant afford the stuffs that you guys are doing for your kids any suggstion ? do you have any materials that you can share to me so i know what to do and how to help my son? any advice or help will be greatly appreciated...
