Guest guest
This coming Monday, my son has an appointment with Early Intervention for his evaluation. He's already been dx as having severe Apraxia by his SLP. So, I'm just setting up additional therapy. March 1st we have an evaluation with Kaufman. We live in the area and hope to go there 2x a week. I'm not as worried about this one, since it's private and all. I'm not familiar with EI at all...so not sure what I should do. He's been on the Pro EFA for about a week now and the progress is STUNNING to say the least. Nothing short of amazing! So....should I hold off giving him more until these evals are out of the way? Thanks! Greta
Guest guest
Greta I'd stop them. Hope you have enough time for the full regression- but if apraxic you want to secure appropriate therapy and with the surges our kids have on the right fish oils (and now with nutriiveda) that makes it less likely as it has yet to be validated and studied. With or without the fish oils or nutriiveda you still need appropriate motor planning and other appropriate therapies if apraxic. After the evaluation you can put them back on again. As just pointed out most closed minded professionals don't believe in nutritional additions helping neurological or speech connections anyway (in spite of the recent research but whatever) so just do it. I did it for Tanner to secure appropriate therapy...and had to hide the fish oils from my husband and it was the hardest thing I ever did. But Glenn didn't know how difficult it can be to secure appropriate therapies. I wrote about why I stopped the fish oils here which is in The LCP Solution book http://www.cherab.org/information/dietaryeffects/LCPbook.html As I just told -once put back on the surges will come back again. I wouldn't keep taking the child on and off -but sometimes people need to see the regression once to believe it. I've seen research type people do it to their child more than once -but most won't do it more than three times. It's kind of mean if you aren't doing it for a reason like you are. =====
