Guest guest
Hi Nikunj! Please look up the word " hypervitaminosis A " You do not want to mess with dosages of fat soluble vitamins above upper tolerable levels in my opinion. Here is a chart for vitamin A Table 5: Tolerable Upper Intake Levels (ULs) for retinol Age (years) Children (mcg) Males (mcg) Females (mcg) Pregnancy (mcg) Lactation (mcg) 0-1 600 (2,000 IU) 1-3 600 (2,000 IU) 4-8 900 (3,000 IU) 9-13 1,700 (5610 IU) 14-18 2,800 (9,240 IU) 2,800 (9,240 IU) 2,800 (9,240 IU) 2,800 (9,240 IU) 19+ 3,000 (10,000 IU) 3,000 (10,000 IU) 3,000 (10,000 IU) 3,000 (10,000 IU) http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/vitamina/ NV is water soluble but has higher levels of some of the fat soluble vitamins -and it contains turmeric as well- and we have hundreds of reports of success with it at this point. It's working in just about all cases and being approved by the child's doctor and there are no known side effects...it's super healthy food. You may want to check this out http://pursuitofresearch.org/ingredients.html If you click on the chocolate or vanilla label you can see all that is in it. As far as vitamin A alone...we have had children on cod liver oil who have little to no surges and then when switched to ProEFA had moderate to dramatic surges. Cod liver oils naturally contains vitamin A because it's made from the liver of the fish while fish oils not made from the liver do not contain any vitamin A. ProEFA is not made from the fish liver. I have not ever heard of any doing mega dosages of vitamin A -but this group had horrific side effects including seizures and massive regressions with mega dosages of another fat soluble vitamin -e. Proceed with extreme caution if you want to try....or again why try that when you can try NV which is working for most conditions and ages from what we've seen?!! It's like when I say why research enzymes when you haven't checked out diet first? http://nutraeasy.com/wholefoodtherapy/2010/11/11/added-proteinamino-acids-and-or\ -enzymes-help-those-with-autism/ (and again if ordering NV please read this http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=115029735601 & topic=14809 ) And Nikunj I wrote this as to try to explain a possible why NV is helping most http://pursuitofresearch.org/science.html =====
Guest guest
Without speech therapy? Nothing? Wow---just that statement alone is scary!! >> > One of the old homoeopathy type consultants has told me to give her turmeric and Aquasol A (25,000 IU daily of Vitamin A in a water soluble form)and has guaranteed totaly resolution of her speech problems by 31st Dec'10 (approx. 45 days from now). > >
Guest guest
I agree Maureen -but there are few (none?!) here that use nutritional without any therapy. In most cases therapy is just a given so it's not always brought up as there are fewer questions if one has a therapist they feel confident about. I checked and Nikunj's child too is in speech therapy- or at least was May of 2009. Nikunj Daughter 2.4 yrs LT No formal diagnosis, I suspect Apraxia. 150 words or word approximations, misarticulation Montessori school, child led therapy at home and speech therapy Nikunj what type of placement and therapy does your daughter now have? =====
Guest guest
Hi , You're right.. the speech therapy was on until a couple of weeks ago when finally having got real worried about her recent stammering problem, I decided to suspend the speech therapy for a while. This is because I felt that the speech therapist was putting her under too much strain and she has become extremely conscious of her speech difficulties. We don't have good speech therapists here in Calcutta and I'm pretty darn sure that she was getting the wrong kind of therapy. The update on her status as of now would be as follows:- Daughter almost 4 yrs old Not a reliable diagnosis but suspected Phonological disorder, very hyperactive, recent bouts of severe stammering Speaks in full sentences, picking up 2nd language Has joined school, starting to learn phonetics and writing Thanks, Nikunj > > I agree Maureen -but there are few (none?!) here that use nutritional without any therapy. Guest guest
I'm thoroughly confused now. According to the data and link below, more than 9000 IUs of Vitamin A would be toxic for my daughter. However, according to http://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?id=6179 approx. 25000 IUs per kg of body weight is allowable. Considering that my daughter weighs 19 kgs, it should be no problem for me to give her a total of 25000 IUs daily. Which data is accurate? > > Hi Nikunj! > > Please look up the word " hypervitaminosis A " You do not want to mess with dosages of fat soluble vitamins above upper tolerable levels in my opinion. Guest guest
My son isn't in speech, I work with him quite a bit. He was in speech over the summer and HATED it and it caused some regressions > > > > > I agree Maureen -but there are few (none?!) here that use nutritional without any therapy.
