I agree.I would give the NV at least a month. Also, make sure the child is

getting enough liquids/day. Multiple weight x .6 for kids and .5 for

adults.

Warmest wishes,

Hi Sheryl, I would not increase to 3 scoops, thats too much too soon, and

she needs to give it some more to to work. Both my children are on NV and

are having great results in many areas. My son (14) is all off seizure meds

now for 2 months and my daughter (10) will most likely be off hers in the

new year!! If anyone needs any help with NV just call me at 631-447-0615

not seen any improvements yet. She said that during the first week her

daughter's stools were loose and she was hyper but all of that has resolved.

She is taking 2 scoops a day. I believe she is 50 lbs. Apparently she is

taking 2 scoops at one time instead of splitting it up into 1 scoop twice a

day. Would that make a difference? Should she increase to 3 scoops?

Thanks, !  That is exactly the advice I gave her about splitting the

dosage.  I will find out from her whether she gave up the fish oil prior to NV

or if she gave it up a while ago........not sure but I did think about that

too.

Thanks again,  Sheryl

Hi Sheryl,

You don't say when the mother started the fish oils, only that she stopped them

when she started the NV -was the child on fish oils prior to NV?

For those that have their child on fish oils however -for some reason some

parents find it logical to stop fish oils to start NV to see what's working. In

research you look at variables and try to keep all as consistent as possible. So

in short if your child is on fish oils keep them on the fish oils when starting

NV -if not on fish oils start one at a time. If you have a child on fish oils

and you stop them to start NV -the child's body will deal with the loss of

essential fatty acids no matter that you are adding other essential nutrients.

It's kind of like (to try to explain this) no longer feeding your child

vegetables because you started to feed your child dairy. Each essential nutrient

is needed by the body -will go in to that below- and in the case of both fish

oils and NV we see surges when put on and regressions when taken off in almost

all cases.

I will for the sake of those that still don't understand say this again in two

paragraphs to make this clear.

If your child was never on either fish oils or NV -start one at a time. Give

about a month so you can get a better idea of what is doing what as NV typically

will show results in a day to a few days and fish oils in a day to 3 weeks -but

typically within a week.

If your child is on fish oils but just starting NV do not stop the essential

fatty acids to start adding essential amino acids and nutrients. Both are

providing essential nutrients -both are reported in the majority of cases to

show surges when on and regressions when taken off. If you start NV and then

pull your child off the fish oils you are now going to deal with the body going

through any possible regression of stopping the essential fatty acids. While I

found I was able to lower my son Tanner's fish oils once on NV -that was after

about 4 months of use- and I didn't and wouldn't stop them -they provide an

essential nutrient.

Essential means that the body needs it daily but can't produce it so needs to

consume it but most of us are missing it in our diets today. Add to that the

metabolic issue of not knowing what many of our children are able to digest and

utilize. They are finding the root of more and more conditions from diabetes to

heart disease to some cancers to yes some suspect autism as well to be in the

metabolic system.

It can be " difficult " to get NV or fish oils into a child. However speaking as a

parent who had to get fish oils into a child prior to ProEFA when the brand we

were using smelled and tasted like rancid fish -I can tell you that as a parent

you do what you have to -not what your child wants...to me the child's condition

is the most difficult to deal with- giving your child healthy? It's tough but if

you see it working you do it -if it's not working you don't. But you can't give

something a chance if you let the child rule you. So if one wishes however to

give either of these proven and mega successful therapies a good try -then one

needs to figure out how to get healthy foods into their child. I'm not saying we

have to force it- even though that is an option some have taken -but here for

example is one page on how to get fish oils into a child

http://www.cherab.org/information/dietaryeffects/efatips.html#My

And here is a page on how to serve NV

http://pursuitofresearch.org/serving_suggestions.html

Since NV is water soluble it's logical to me not to take it all at once and it

is probably better to split that dosage in half- 1 scoop in the AM and one a bit

later in the day. I have not heard of anyone else giving one dosage a day to a

child- so that could also add to why there is not a surge seen yet?

Surges in fish oils are typically in eye contact, speech, motor planning, focus,

and sensory. In a much more subtle way than NV there could be improvements in

school work. First signs are increase in babble and mouth movements -but in

general in comparison to NV there are not as many areas of surge

These are the surges with NV reported in almost all cases:

SPEECH articulation, complexity and sophistication of sentence structure

LANGUAGE better understanding of written and spoken word, development of better

reading and writing skills

ACADEMICS/LEARNING reported surges in all areas of school. For preschool age

sudden awareness of numbers, letters, even spelling

FINE AND GROSS MOTOR SKILLS improvements in various activities reported

including riding a bike, swimming to buttoning pants

POTTY TRAINING and bed wetting resolved for those of all ages who had issues are

reported

SENSE OF HUMOR both catching subtle humor/abstract humor, and wanting to make

others laugh-joking around

AWARENESS OF SURROUNDINGS (for autism) reported following gaze and more

interactions

FACIAL EXPRESSIONS more non-verbal communication, for oral apraxia more

expressions instead of blank stares when not engaged in conversation

FOCUS on task, more willing to listen and try

MULTI TASKING for those with motor planning impairments such as apraxia as this

is something typically not done or done well prior to NV

SOCIAL wanting to participate with others via play and communication

MOOD reported seems " happier " for a number

BEHAVIOR normalization reported in a few cases of those with severe behavioral

issues of head banging, butting, hitting, aggression and anger issues

MUSIC increased interest in listening to, humming or singing music

DEVELOPMENTAL CATCHING UP for those that never went through stages -reportedly

going through them for the first time.

DECREASE IN SEIZURES so far in several cases elimination of any seizures and

headaches and decrease and elimination in seizure meds as well

IMAGINATIVE PLAY increase in imaginative play and story telling

IMPROVED DIET willingness to try more foods for those that were " picky eaters "

prior

Within 1 month or more:

SENSORY improvement in sensory awareness for those affected with sensory

integration dysfunction

GROWTH reported dramatic surges in height as well as increase in muscle and

normalization in weight

REFLEXES normalization of reflexes for those who had poor reflexes

As many here now know the VP of Cherab is Cheryl SLS MA who has

assisted many with her wise advocacy advice.

http://latetalker.org/about/cheryl.html However many do not know that the former

VP of Cherab was a parent named Suzanne Smolyar. Suzanne is a mathematician and

a scientist and like many very analytical and skeptical about the fish oils

prior to use of them. Suzanne after her daughter was on fish oils however

would frequently at our then in person meetings answer parents concerned about

either any possible difficulties of getting fish oils into a child that the most

difficult thing she had to deal with was that her 5 year old daughter could not

talk. So worth sending out this message to remind everyone that getting fish

oils or NV into a child isn't the most difficult thing to deal with.

RE: [ ] progress

Hi Gloria,

I wanted to say that I know exactly how you feel. Last night

at the table, 's brother (Ari 6.8) began to speak while was trying

to say something, so she looked at Ari and said in a loud and affirmative

tone " Shut up Ari, Shut up " . We were so excited and overjoyed at her using

that phrase - we forgot to explain to her that it was inappropriate to use

at the table and to her family members. We just thought it was golden -

just like you did.

Here is some background from one of my previous posts that will tell you why

this is so exciting .

" I am a mother of a beautiful 5-year-old girl, . Since the time she was

about 11 mo old - I had a feeling that something was wrong with fine motor,

gross motor and of course speech. Through the past 4 years, I have gone to

numerous neurologists, best in the field, I must add. We have gone non-stop to

therapy with , but the progress was painfully slow. did not speak

- making it nearly

impossible for us to communicate with her. Everyday at night I would kiss

, and standing over her head I would say, " please start talking tomorrow "

- subliminal messages - hoping they'd work.

To no avail, my child was just not talking. Therapy helped, but

progress was limited. I don't want to continue with this sub-story,

as you probably all understand the fear and frustration in parents

and the child as well.
