Guest guest
We took the Nutriiveda info and many success stories and info from this group's messages (especially sowmya's detailed description of the Indian spices and their value/properties/effects) to our DAN! dr today to see what he thought. He was impressed with the many good Indian-spice-derived ingredients, but could absolutely not comprehend how the whey protein isolate wasn't " whey " ... we tried to explain how it was explained to us (I even had the actual message that explained the process of extracting the protein from the whey so that there is little or no whey left, hence a protein " isolated " from whey - hope I got that right?!), but he still couldn't see how it still wasn't whey. We have to be somewhat concerned about whey b/c my 4.5 year old autistic and apraxic son has just tested moderate on his IgG antibody test. However, we are getting nowhere really with individual supplements that we have been doing for months and we have removed gluten and limited dairy to 7 oz of goat milk a day and cheese 1 to 2 times per week. My son is refusing to take some of the supplements now, being outwardly defiant about it. We plan to continue giving him fish oils for now and his probiotic, but will remove the multivitamin and chlorophyll. Our son has had such a recent dramatic regression in all areas for no apparent reason, particularly behaviour and frustration that results in biting and scratching others, that we feel there is nothing to be lost in trying Nutriiveda. He also has yeast and some heavy metals so we have a baseline live blood cell sample of these findings and will compare the next live blood cell samples once on Nutriiveda. What am I hoping for? I guess nothing short of a miracle, but in my mother's heart, I want for my son to be able to say at least some simple words to express his needs/feelings; I want for him to make eye contact with me; I want for him to focus so that he can learn and be taught life skills - I know that's a lofty list... I guess if I had to just narrow it down to one thing, I'd want to hear what his voice sounds like when he says " Mama " - to know my own child's voice calling for me rather than a growl or a cry or a whine or a rage... just call for me, sweet boy. It's taken me months to convince my husband that we should at least try the Nutriiveda; our Plan B is to do the Specific Carbohydrate Diet to deal with yeast and malabsorbtion issues then to deal with the heavy metals through chelation. I would give my arm to not have to go to Plan B. My son is 34 lbs, 4.5 years old so we will begin with 1/2 a scoop in his morning milk for a day or two, then slowly build up to a full scoop over the next few days; I believe our max dose would be 2 scoops. Wish us luck... I'm feeling tonight that there is no time like the present and we will soon see if this is going to help/hinder or do nothing at all. I will post updates as we go along! Guest guest
Tatyana I too am so hopeful that your dreams will come true. Based on what we have seen so far there is SO much hope you will see something positive -and I wouldn't say that lightly. The overwhelming amount of positive reports can not be ignored. I was on the phone with the company today and hopefully sooner rather than later will be put in touch with at least one of the doctors who is an experts in both traditional and ayurvedic medicine who will be able to start helping us answer questions here...and who knows -perhaps one of doctors who can help us discover just 'why' we are seeing what we are. I put a few of my theories as to why this is helping including the research on the whey isolate protein, essential amino acids, and turmeric curcumin -all linked to improvements in neuro health in some way- and just found a few more (which I'll post) but as I said to the company -I don't understand enough about ayurveda and how the product was formulated to synergisticly work together to know if just one of the elements is what is making the difference -or the blend, or blends! What I mean by that is for example we know that for many the fish oils nutritionally have made a difference in many with apraxia and like conditions in a day to three weeks...but we also know that certain formulas have produced better results...and by adding for example more EPA to the mix, but keeping the GLA ratio not too low we see the even greater gains in so many cases. We know each of the compounds are healthy and good for nutritional reasons- but don't understand how one compound or a blend in this is producing even greater results in a greater number of areas than just one element alone. For example in addition to the three elements I mention above- I found this on the haritaki (Terminalia chebula) Antispasmodic phytochemicals Chebulin an anthraquinone glycoside found in flowers of Terminalia chebula Retz (Combretaceae) popularly known as haritaki in Ayurveda has antispasmodic activity similar to papaverine 10. Chebulin is however considered to be purgative principle of Terminalia chebula. http://www.ispub.com/ostia/index.php?xmlFilePath=journals/ijam/vol5n1/phyto.xml anti-spasmodics have proved useful in treating spinal-cord injuries, multiple sclerosis and Tourette syndrome amongst other neuro conditions -so how may that help this group? And on this same (one) ayurvedic element (Haritaki, Chebulic myrobalam): Terminalia chebula Retz. (Haritaki, Chebulic myrobalam) In Sanskrit, Haritaki means " carries away " (all diseases). Haritaki is a safe and effective purgative, expectorant and tonic. It is a component of the classic Ayurvedic combination called " Triphala " (three fruits). Tiphalpha is an important Ayurvedic medicine, which often promotes health through successive steps of purification and detoxification. It is known to have strong anti-mutagenic activity, because of its very rich content vitamin C http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2639691 And also from that same link from the NIH about ayurveda The Ayurvedic concept appeared and developed between 2500 and 500 BC in India. The literal meaning of Ayurveda is " science of life, " because ancient Indian system of health care focused views of man and his illness. It is pointed out that the positive health means metabolically well-balanced human beings. According to Ayurveda, the disease evolves from the body due to external factors. It has a vast literature in Sanskrit covering all aspect of diseases, pharmacy and therapeutics. The practice of Ayurveda therapeutics consisted of 8 sections divided into 180 chapters and listed 314 plants, which are used as medicines in India [1]. The Indian subcontinent is a vast repository of medicinal plants that are used in traditional medical treatments [2]. Many Westerners have long regarded the Indian systems of medicine as a rich source of knowledge [1]. In India, around 20,000 medicinal plants have been recorded [3] however traditional communities are using only 7,000 - 7,500 plants for curing different diseases [4–6]. The medicinal plants are listed in various indigenous systems such as Siddha (600), Ayurveda (700) and Amchi (600), Unani (700), Allopathy which 30 plant species for ailments [7]. Even today, majorities of the medicines are prepared from the plant and animal products, minerals and metals etc. Major pharmaceutical industries depend on the plant products for the preparation of Ayurvedic medicines. In the present context, the Ayurvedic system of medicine is widely accepted and practiced not only in the Indian Peninsula but also in the developed countries such as Europe, United States and Japan. Plant derived medicines have been the first line of defense in maintaining health and combating diseases [8–9]. In the last century, roughly 121 pharmaceutical products have been discovered based on the information obtained from the traditional healers [10]. Chemical principles from natural sources have become much simpler and have contributed significantly to the development of new drugs from medicinal plants [11–12]. Biologically active compounds from natural sources have always been of great interest to scientists working on infectious diseases. Research to find out scientific evidence for claims of plants used for Indian Ayurvedic system of medicine has been intensified. Detailed research on the chemistry and pharmacology of products of plant origin are much essential and this may eventually lead to the discovery of medicine that can be used in the treatment of several diseases [3]. Moreover, these local Ayurvedic preparations are scientifically evaluated and disseminated properly, our indigenous population can be given better access to efficacious drug treatment and improved health status [13–14] However, over commercial exploitation of these plant (herbal) products frequently degradation of natural resources are reported to be major threats to medicinal plants in India. The aim of the present review is to understand the knowledge of plants used for Ayurvedic preparations, can be extended for future scientific investigation near future. " And again how one element may be further helping another work...the whey isolate protein which we know from research is important for more than one reason has strong immunomodulating properties Commiphora mukul Engl. (Guggul) Guggul is a resin, the major ingredient in joint care and immuno care that has been regarded as a remedy in Ayurvedic medicine, known to increase white blood cell count and to possess strong immuno-modulating properties. Guggul is one of the " broad spectrum " health products with a wide range of benefits. Mode of action makes this product very helpful not only in protecting against the common cold but also in various other conditions. It has been shown to have remarkable properties as an adjuvant of other types of therapies. In addition, lower cholesterol and triglycerides, while maintaining the HDL to LDL ratio has long known Guggul. It has been subjected to hundreds of clinical studies http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2639691 And here's an article on how the whey isolate protein also has immunomodulating properties http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=ArticleURL & _udi=B6T7C-4PD4XC8-2 & _user=1\ 0 & _coverDate=03%2F31%2F2008 & _rdoc=1 & _fmt=high & _orig=search & _sort=d & _docanchor= & v\ iew=c & _searchStrId=1214248754 & _rerunOrigin=google & _acct=C000050221 & _version=1 & _u\ rlVersion=0 & _userid=10 & md5=929b8c66ddb7a4cca9b931357e9ad017 And speaking of the whey your doctor was right -it's still a whey -but what is missing from this whey due to the processing is the casein. Whey isolate protein, besides having an excellent amino acid profile as it's composed of the essential amino acids are isolated from the serum. What I posted the other day was this: " If you want the most versatile, highest quality, health-promoting protein available then you should look no further than a delicately filtered, gently processed, whole milk sourced, high- quality whey protein isolate. " What impresses most that understand nutrition is that the whey isolate protein in the nutriiveda 'is' made of whole milk which is the most expensive kind...but instead of using chemicals to separate the casein from the whey -there is a gentle all natural process to separate -which to purchase that one product alone would be pricey. What I have been told by those who work in nutrition is that this type of whey isolate protein - actually the product nutriiveda -is stripped of virtually any allergens and is the most easily digestible by the body. And again we do know more and more now about the importance of the protein and essential amino acids for neuro repair -and no BV is higher in protein than whey isolate protein...it's this simple; amino acids make up protein. Protein makes up basically everything in your body- the only thing our body has more of than protein is water...and the essential amino acids are those that our bodies can't produce -we need to consume..and most of us don't get enough. Again that all goes to the science of 'why' this is having such an overwhelming positive effect on just about every single child put on this from this group so far reported. And to the one and only person that posted " like everything else this didn't work either " can you please provide age of child, diagnosis, dosage and amount of time tried. Also would you be willing to speak with any of the doctors? We need to know why in your child's case it didn't work. The only other two that reported no change...in their messages here reported surges (so that would fall under subtle change- but not no change) But again Tatyana I do hope that based on the ancient healing together with modern medicine, miracles together with science, and hope together with treatment that by using something as simple and elegant as nutriiveda...you hear " Mama " for the first time in the next few days...and so much more! Please do keep us posted!!! =====
