Guest guest
Usually about a week. Are you noting the difference in stools (softer and more foul smelling)? Also make sure there is enough hydration for this stage which again is just a week or so http://pursuitofresearch.org/faq.html#serve If you raise the dosage you can go through further detox -just to let all know. Also you should be noting surges during the detox stage. Unlike fish oils where the surges come in after the initial behavior changes -NV it's all at once and across the board -let me know which areas you are seeing surges in from this list http://pursuitofresearch.org/pursuit.html Thanks! =====
Guest guest
it took about 3 weeks here, but my son was not hydrated well enough for the first week or so. Which definitely affected that > > If you saw a temporary worsening of behavior with the Nutriveda when first starting, how long did it last? > > Thanks! > > >
Guest guest
It has only been about four days, and the dosage varies because it depends on how much I can mix into his yobaby yogurt and get him to eat. I figure that any of it in him is better than nothing, and I think I'm getting close to a scoop. Today is the first day I've noticed anything that felt " different " to me in his demeanor. He seems both chattier during play (singing, more word approximations) and a little more volatile with behavior. He's so changeable, though. It's too soon to attribute anything to the NV. I'm hopeful, though, and his nutritional intake is sporadic and imbalanced to begin with, anything that I can get into him that is wholesome is a good thing, regardless of what it does for his disorders. > > Usually about a week. Guest guest
You know what! I hadn't made the connection, but he has been asking to drink even more than he ususally does, and wetting through his pull-ups at night. Interesting. I thought he just needed a new size pull-up, but maybe it's his body flushing out. > > > > If you saw a temporary worsening of behavior with the Nutriveda when first starting, how long did it last? > > > > Thanks! > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Okay, he's in the other room " singing " at the top of his lungs. Nonstop. I'm getting excited now. !!!! Not going to get my hopes up. Not going to get my hopes up. Guest guest
Just a couple of weeks. We started fish oils and NV at the same time though (not recommended now I know) so not sure if starting one at a time would have the same issues. It was bad. He was having horrible tantrums and hitting and kicking and I even posted. After it was gone though, it was gone. They have wonderful demeanors now (most of the time. they are 2 and 3 so they have their toddler moments). Guest guest
That's wonderful! My boys now " sing " too. Even though I am the only one who truly understands them, but they " try " to talk sooo much more whereas they were almost mute before NV and fish oils. They also laugh and giggle a lot and have shot up in height. My two year old is the youngst kid in his mother's day out program but the tallest by far and my three year old is also very tall for his age. Many think he's 5. Guest guest
That's the thing about surges...even if you doubt where they are coming from as NV is making things " too good to be true " they keep happening...and if that isn't enough as sometimes it's not - parents are get feedback from the professionals that work with the child typically within a week as well. This is especially important for parents with little ones like you because you are still new in the journey and don't know how many hours, days, months, years (translate that to not just time but dollars) it typically takes to get the type of progress we are seeing in days, weeks and months- not even years! And in areas that are not even addressed by SLPs if you check the list. But yes singing and interest in music -listening to music, humming as well as imaginative play and increase in sense of humor, increase in abstract humor and thought all seem to be first signs. You are on day 4 so you are one of the parents right on schedule. Please do keep us updated- check this list http://pursuitofresearch.org/pursuit.html because again it's across the board surges -motor planning in the body too. And PLEASE let us know what the SLP, teacher has to say -I'm sure you'll get that feedback shortly if you haven't already. Now be prepared for the first real problem we found with NV...within a few months try to convince the school that your child still needs therapy! NV has created a paradigm shift that most of the world will know about -but doesn't just yet. The brain responds to multiple stimuli and these children still do need therapy. Try to get or make sure everything is in place with the IEP now- early. Also Ina just mailed me her 5 and a half year old child's report from Kent University (he went from a diagnosis of severe profound apraxia to mild in 3 months on NV and no longer qualifies for services through the school but doesn't care -she's just taking him for private but still he should be entitled) I'm going to put that report up without names for privacy -if anyone else wants to share as I know there are a few now let me know and I can keep it all private but want to raise awareness about this too. And PS...CONGRATULATIONS!! Because the bottom line is we want them talking and as close to or better than normal than normal!! And I can get up to my rooftop just about any day you want and not just tell you that NV will do that -but scream it so as many people can hear me as possible. I am a huge believer -huge. =====
Guest guest
Yes, I'll check back in with updates. I say I'm on day 4, but I measured more carefully when I mixed the yogurt tonight, and he has only gotten a full scoop maybe last night and definitely tonight. Before that, he was getting maybe 1/2 to 2/3 scoop. To get a full scoop, he has to eat two full yobaby yogurts, and, unbelievably, he did that today. One at lunch time and one as bedtime snack. My children don't eat much. They are both in the 5-10th percentile in weight and height. My son WILL eat a lot in one sitting, but not regularly. So just seeing him get that many calories and that much nutrition is thrilling all on its own. This evening, after afternoon nap, he was as cranky as he was happy and energetic this morning. I'm going to chalk it up to breaking-in period and move on. As I said, I'm on board for the vitamins and appetite alone. This is some good stuff. I wish it weren't so expensive, but I do know that the therapies we are facing (much of which I have good reason to believe would be out-of-pocket expenses) will not be cheap, either. We only just got a provisional diagnosis as some kind of " language disorder " or " communication disorder " with some autistic characteristics but with too much social ability to be considered autism. The doc did say apraxia could be added to the diagnosis if we need it. She thinks we may need Autism therapy, behavioral therapy, etc., if the good progress we are already seeing (thanks to fish oil!) slows down. Our speech therapist doesn't think the fish oil created " surges " that were noticeable to her. She says it looks more like " steady progress, " which I can understand. She sees him one hour a week. But if he has anything even remotely like true apraxia, then he shouldn't have made such lovely steady progress, imho. And even my husband saw the immediate benefit of the fish oil on behavior and temperament. It will be very interesting to see how the NV changes things, and to see what the SLP and preschool thinks. We also just started Montessori in the mornings, and that, by itself, has helped tremendously as well. You guys are great. I don't want to think about how I'd be doing without this list. The fact that there is so much hope and room for improvement is keeping me afloat as I work through the new diagnosis. > > That's the thing about surges...even if you doubt where they are coming from as NV is making things " too good to be true " they keep happening...and if that isn't enough as sometimes it's not - parents are get feedback from the professionals that work with the child typically within a week as well.
