What the school is doing is illegal!....additionally, since this school already has a therapy dog program that brings in dogs for the kids to read to, not allowing this child to have her service animal would be considered an arbitrary and capricious standard. I wish this family well with the suit. I find it appalling that the school attempts to diminish the training of this certified service dog, by referring to it as a " comfort dog " {all service dogs provide comfort in some form} and they further try to diminish this girl's disability by referring to the challenges of " raising a young child in in these circumstances " ...hello, it's Autism! This is a perfect example of one of the many reasons that we home-school.
