question about fish oil, supplements in general

I've only done fish oil thus far, but i've read here that if you go OFF the

supplements the kids take a step back. Does anyone know why? I''ve been told

that apraxia is neurological, and certain pathways in the brain aren't forming

but with therapy etc etc. we can form them and help the right paths be made. So

as their brains grow, if these correct connections start to take form, will they

just " go away " without fish oil or other supplements? How serious a regression,

is it seen quickly, or is it subtle?

Also, does anyone have any links to any medical journal articles on nutriiveda

(or, something not " advertising " related). I've read lots of the

apraxia-networking stuff, all good. But every time i google it i get Deepak

Chopra or weight loss stuff, and i'm just interested in a truly non-biased view

on what it is, and any possible side effects (on anyone, not just children).

I realize its all natural, but when i was going through fertility issues years

ago i did lots of all natural stuff that actually interfered with my success

(one supplement raised my estrogen levels and caused all kinds of ovarian cysts,

which i had never had prior or since).

I'm seriously considering nutriiveda along with the fish oil but my son is very

young and so i need to do all my research to feel totally comfortable!

Thanks!

Lori can answer much more in regards to fish oils as I first shared about my son

Tanner's success on a fish oil formula over ten years ago as you can now read

about in the book The LCP Solution under " The Lellow Breakthrough "

http://www.cherab.org/information/dietaryeffects/LCPbook.html

It appears with the fish oils that some only need them for a few years and then

can go off, but I have something to share with you that was shared with me by

the very wise Dr. Martha Herbert http://www.marthaherbert.com when I asked her

why my son Tanner still regressed if I tried to take him off fish oils when he

was around 10 years old.

" Why would you even want to take him off the fish oils?! The essential fatty

acids are essential to the body yet our bodies don't produce them we need to

consume them but they are virtually lacking in our diets today...I know I feel

better when I take them "

That response made me look at it the right way. Asking " does my child have to

take fish oils for life " is kind of like asking " will my child have to sleep for

hours every night? " " Will my child need to drink water every single day? " Our

world is not the same as it was back when our forefathers gathered wild grains

and lived off the nutrient dense land. Our soils are overused and contain

toxins, as do our waters. Fortunately in regards to fish oils -the mercury for

example binds to the protein which is the muscle of the fish -so far testing as

shown it's not probable for the heavy metals to be in the oils so fish oils may

in fact be the best way to get the DHA and EPA without the mercury.

As far as nutriiveda -there is a reason that I encourage highly for you and

everyone to seek out doctors and nutritionists you respect. You will NOT find

anything anywhere on the net about this product working for autism, apraxia,

ADHD, global delays, TBI or anything else we are hearing here unless it's

someone that is from this group or heard about it here. I discovered it by

accident because a few years ago my son was on a product that made him regress

called speak which was very high in vitamin E and K. It may have affected his

metabolic system in some way but all we know is that he seemed to put weight on

and at 13 years old he was 5' 7 and 162 pounds. In about 2 months he is now 5

foot 10 and 147 pounds. Here's how I found out about nutriiveda

http://pursuitofresearch.hmgsuccess.com/?p=510

And again this was after speak a product that my son and many others in this

group had horrific side effects reported just days on it. so to say I am not

one to rush to just use anything is an understatement. I say again (and again

and again) check this out with YOUR doctor -feel comfortable. I am but hearing

that from me and even if it's 29 or 290 others isn't a reason to try something

unless you feel comfortable about it. Like anything it seems we appear as a

species to be more suspicious about healthy stuff than junk food -I'm not

judging -I'm the same. Well I mean I limit any junk food but I brought up the

example of a sweet tart because when we went to see a movie recently one of

Tanner's friends offered all of us one...and I remember thinking " what's in a

sweet tart?! " But does anyone other than me ever really look...and search for

side effects??? No.

I put Tanner on nutriiveda for no reason other than to help him lose a few

pounds and this was after I highly highly checked it out myself with doctors,

nutritional experts I was friends with -as well as searching it out with PhDs I

found on the internet who were versed in ayurveda. So even though I only looked

at this as a natural way to support Tanner's metabolic system and help him lose

weight -we got SO much more- and the first to say it outloud was not me or my

husband -it was the head of Tanner's school about a week after he started it.

Yes it was THAT obvious. Speech, academics, facial expressions, sense of humor,

imagination and being all of a sudden able to multi task are just some of what

we have seen. It's like he's Tanner -but a new and improved version of who he

was before. I know it sounds hard to believe and that's why I say just check it

out and (yes I'll bold this again) TRY IT!!!

Now that I'm writing this I'm for sure going to contact Dr. Martha Herbert about

nutriiveda because she is exactly the type of doctor one would want to consult.

From my experience with the fish oils it will be the better doctors from the

better hospitals that will actually look at it -and decide " is this healthy "

" why could this be useful and effective for this group of children " " would

there be any downside to recommending this " and other important questions.

If you want to on your own search out credible information I can tell you there

are over 300 clinical studies on the ingredients that are in nutriiveda and they

are all benign compounds that are nutrient dense and like fish oils perhaps

supply the body with something that is needed but is missing from our diets.

What you can do is take each ingredient here

http://pursuitofresearch.hmgsuccess.com/?page_id=392 as well as the chocolate

http://www.up0.net/content/666799/Choco_NutritionFacts.pdf and vanilla

http://www.up0.net/content/666799/Vanilla_NutritionFacts.pdf nutrition facts

from http://www.pursuitofresearch.org and do some searches. But way better

advice is just check it out with your child's doctor and experts in nutrition

you trust. Do not underestimate it because there's marketing behind it- God

knows that is what runs the world today...and in my opinion I'm thrilled it's

formulated and endorsed by Dr. Chopra and Dr. Simon. I have a great deal of

respect for them. Many medical both traditional and alternative doctors I have

spoken with do as well. Unlike most things -these are people who do not need

the money and would not risk their reputations which is worth far more than

money for something that they didn't believe in. And no -they did NOT create

this for any of our children -it IS a metabolic ayurvedic weight management

product. It was just a happy surprise on my part that I discovered it's SO much

more.

And as far as reading something that is not " marketing " Have you read 's

journey on this so far????? http://littlemermaidmelanie.wordpress.com/about

Actually at some point that may be looked at as marketing too -I wouldn't be

shocked if a few years from now that is a book and a movie! I mean really -read

it -it's incredible!

Let us know what you hear back from your child's doc and I'll keep all posted on

what I hear from Dr. Herbert. And as far as the fish oils (which is what we are

looking to raise monies for -research for the fish oils) those for sure try

-read this for starter info
