Guest guest
You want to look for a fish oil formula that is higher in EPA than DHA (which is what we found to be best over the past decade -and others in research such as Dr. discovered as well) and more strange to nutritionists and experts alike as they feel it's not necessary...a small amount of GLA or Omega 6 from either primrose or borage seed oil. To cross the blood brain barrier the EPA and DHA has to cross very small vessels in the brain and I was told that perhaps the GLA enables this as possible due to it's very strong anti inflammatory properties. Regardless -like the inactive yeast being used reluctantly by those with yeast problems -the GLA appears to make the EPA and DHA work -nature doesn't always come with an instruction booklet so for now it's still a mystery as to why. We just know what works best for most through trial and error because quite honestly just like me -many of us tried the other oils -including the cod liver oil which was one of my first feedbacks in our nonprofit and saw little to mainly nothing -but surges on the right formula even in tiny amounts which is incredible (here's the history http://www.cherab.org/information/historyEFA.html and here's the article after our conference http://www.cherab.org/information/dietaryeffects/Englemed.html ) Best advice I can give you is STOP the cod liver oil -it's healthy so don't throw it away -you can take it -but give your grandson the O3 /O6 formula that worked for most of us and let us know in a day to three weeks what you notice in the way of surges. If you continue the cod liver oil with the " right " formula you mess up the formula by raising the Omega 3 over the Omega 6 and if you want to do that you want to do that with extra EPA not DHA which is what the formula you have will do. Also the fish oils made from the liver of the fish like the cod liver oil naturally contain vitamin A. I just spoke to a mom tonight who had her son on high vitamin A as per a doctor's recommendation for the autism and his hair fell out. You don't want to mess with fat soluble vitamins -some of us learned that the very hard way. So you can't do higher dosages of fish oils with cod liver oil or any fish oil made from the liver of the fish. Fish oil not made from the liver of the fish does not contain vitamin A. Here's more from our apraxia.org facebook page http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=115029735601 & topic=7401 ....and if you are going to try the nutriiveda that appears to be working even a bit faster in a few days -I thought the fish oils were fast in a day to 3 weeks! =====
