Guest guest
I have an appointment at the kaufman center in june for a 4 day evaluation. Currently the summer speak (3 wk) session is full, but we are on the waiting list for that. The 4 day eval is $780 and the summer program is $3375. You must first send in a DVD of your child and will review it and give you feedback of what may be appropriate for your child. She also gives goals for therapy. The DVD consultation is $80. I am very excited to be traveling to the kaufman center and think it is a really great program. I attended Mrs. Kaufman's seminar last week and it was fabulous! Oh, and they do not charge ins., but you can file the ins yourself after the evaluation. That is all I know right now, there is a lot of info on her website, www.kidspeech.com. I will let you all know how our 4 day eval goes! Jill [ ] Intensive summer therapy? Has anyone attended an intensive summer therapy course... I believe that the Kaufman Institute has an intensive session for three weeks over the summer. I haven't checked price yet. If our insurance would cover it, have you had a good experience with an intensive short-term summer program and are they worth the expense? Sincerely, Barbara firedog665@... Guest guest
The speech practice I take my son to in AZ also offers a summer program such as this one, modeled based on Kaufman's. But I'm wondering, since this program is done in a group setting, is it useful for our kids? Everything I read states that one on one therapy is needed. I was going to ask my SLP, but also wondering if anyone in this group has had good results from this type of program? From: Jill Chaney <jillchaney734@...> Subject: RE: [ ] Intensive summer therapy? Guest guest
I went to see for a 4 day eval. It was the best money we ever spent. It changed everything about my daughter. ________________________________ From: Shirly Meyerowitz <meyerowitzs@...> Sent: Fri, March 12, 2010 3:27:49 PM Subject: RE: [ ] Intensive summer therapy?  The speech practice I take my son to in AZ also offers a summer program such as this one, modeled based on Kaufman's. Guest guest
That gives me so much hope, and I am so excited about going! If you don't mind, could you tell me the greatest benefit it gave your family. My husband is skeptical that only one hour a day for 4 day can do anything, but at this point we are willing to try anything! Did your daughter show significant improvement just in the 4 days? Or did it just help learning the program and implementing itt at home...or both?! Thanks so much! And you can email me privately if you'd rather. jchaney734@.... thanks so much!
