Guest guest
Rich Iron-Folic Diet helps in Producing Intelligent Babies A recently conducted study has revealed that mothers who consume rich amounts of iron and folic acid during their pre-natal period end up conceiving children with a good intelligence quotient. The report has been compiled by a team of experts from the Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, who feel that an increase in iron-folic supplements during pregnancy can help in improving the cognitive abilities of a child. In the research, the scientists studied children from rural areas in Nepal and discovered that improving the supplements for the two nutrients resulted in an improvement of the memory and motor skills of children. Talking about the conclusion of the research, the Lead Researcher Parul Christian said that iron was a key component in the growth of the central nervous system in a child and that a lack of iron can result in changing neurological anatomy of a child. Apart from that, the metabolism rate and biochemistry of a child is also improved. The study witnessed the participation of 676 children from the age of 7 to 9-years old. The research was conducted from June 2007 to April 2009 on children who were born between 1999 and 2001. The understudies were also provided a daily dose of iron, folic acid and zinc.
