Guest guest
Hi all- I started my son on Nutriiveda last Thursday at full dose for his age (he's 7), after talking to our doctor and his okaying it. Here's what I've seen since he started: 1) His control of fine motor skills is definitely much improved. I would have my hand by his while he was using safety scissors because he seems so 'floppy' (for lack of a better word) with scissors. He cut out an acorn the size of his hand by himself. He got mad at me when I kept putting my hand by his, so I just sat right there watching. NOW, it's not perfect, and yes he made some mistakes, but he never would have done that before. He traces letters for his writing and he usually does proprioceptive type stuff to get his hands to be more steady while doing fine motor. He started tracing letters and words without doing those and did just as good as he would have if he would have done the proprioceptive stuff. He also attempted to start at the red dot and make the letters himself- and did pretty good for the first time! This he has never tried. 2) He whispered to me! NEVER has he done this before. I would whisper to him and he would giggle in my ear and talk at a normal level. 3) There is more focus in as much as I ask him to do something and only have to ask once 50% of the time instead of before when it was about 10% of the time. 4) Saying things that he normally says BUT saying the things I would answer to things he normally asks. Having a whole 'conversation' with himself using my words for me. 1st time. 5) Asked me " Why? " 1st time he's ever done that 6) He's doing jokes to me that I've done to him in the past but it didn't seem he got them. Like taking the sticker off a banana and putting it on his nose. He put the sticker from his markers on my cheek and just laughed hysterically at me with the sticker on my face. 1st time for this. He also is laughing at my eldest's son's jokes or tomfoolery, where he didn't do this before. 7) Increase in 'pop-out' sentences. I've not heard him say this many things off the cuff since he was 5. It seems he can't repeat them back to me when I say, " What did you say? " YET, so that's why I'm using the phrase 'pop-out' for now. I am watching this to see if he will. 8) Answering questions 25% of the time, not just a yes/no answer but " here, okay? " kind of answers. 1st time for this also. 9) Can say Nana and banana. He couldn't say them before. 10) He has been coming up to me and attempting MUCH more use of words even if they are not clear words (to me), he is trying to tell me something, and getting frustrated when I don't understand the word. " Pa-ta-sa-do do " I found out he wanted the pencil sharpener. Again, 1st time for this much trying- usually would just take my hand and show me what he wanted. This word would normally (being that many syllables) an 'uh uh uh uh' instead. The only kind of negative is that he is much more sensitive. When I will tell him he can't do something (because he couldn't before) he will have a small temper tantrum (like stomping his foot and will say a word or phrase at me- here is where I've been hearing those 'pop-out' sentences like " I do it " ) but I am guessing it's because he really can do some of these things- or wants to try- and I'm maybe holding him back because I'm still working with the 'old Joe' instead of giving him free reign totally until I'm sure he is safe with these new things also. OH! This was a brand new thing TODAY and even my husband was impressed- He bought a Valentine's card from the boys for me and went to help Joe sign his name. HE DID it all by himself without my husband helping him keep him on track while writing (He'll wander all over the page with his name if you don't kind of guide him). He told me that he said write your name and Joe took his hand away from his and did it all by himself, kept it right under his brother's name no problem... J AND it looks GREAT! -Cassandra
