I'm not sure if anyone will know, but I'm sure you can offer some input, especially ! My son will be 3 tomorrow and had a little over 1/2 scoop of NV with his breakfast...he went to the store with my sister and she let him have a sample (one full pill) of a Flintstone-like vitamin...could this be dangerous for him? Guest guest
In my opinion no...it should be okay, its my understanding that a person's body will urinate the vitamin that the body did not absorb, but be mind I sure would be mindful when other people have my children, I make sure it is very clear on what NOT to feed my daughter, even if I write it down. Guest guest
Hey Brittany! Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. No it wouldn't be dangerous. The main concern would be the build up of fat soluble vitamins, but the good news is it was just one Flintstones type vitamin and they say most of that, perhaps even up to 90% is flushed down the sewer unabsorbed by the body. Must be why some parents that didn't know they no longer need to give vitamins with NV never report side effects too. It's not what you eat or take- it's what your body absorbs and can utilize. Nutrients from food or food sources like NV are the purest and most easily digestible by the body on a cellular level. OK looked quick for a more credible article -this one is kind of gross and not exactly what I was looking for- but you will get the point that most people that take expensive vitamins are flushing them into our sewer systems. Our expensive pee poses a costly problem March 14, 2008|By R. Jan Gurley The big news this week is that we Americans are drinking our pee. Speaking as a physician, that's basically what Monday's Associated Press report about finding easily detectable levels of pharmaceuticals in the water supply all boils down to. What we pee out is staying in our water. It's in the cup of tea you're holding right now. It is, in fact, spreading into all water, everywhere. Some people are peeing out nitroglycerin, some people estrogens, and lots of cows are peeing out steroids in cow-sized doses. If you don't believe me, go take a multivitamin and then see your $1 pill coloring the toilet bowl. If it's a new antibiotic we're talking about, you could be peeing out literally hundreds of dollars a day. The same holds true for, well, you know ... number two. When you swallow a pill, generally one of two things happens. For some drugs, the little worker cells in your kidneys shout " turn on the sump pumps, NOW! " and gazillions of tiny valves twirl open and drug starts spewing into the outflow tract. With other drugs, millions of little cells in your liver start grabbing the drug that goes by on your blood's conveyor belt, and tossing the chemical molecules into a bin to get rid of them. The drug then gets dumped out into your intestines in your bile. Here's another shocker - sometimes, despite swallowing the capsule or tablet, you don't get the drug - studies have shown that some drugs (especially time-release ones) pass through without being completely absorbed (or not at all). After the contents of your toilet bowl go swirling into the municipal sewer plant, a lot of time and energy is spent getting rid of germs and contaminants like heavy metals. But nothing is done about the pharmaceuticals. Standard water filters (like the one on your sink or refrigerator door) don't remove the drugs, either. Bottled water isn't doing any better. So what's a body to do? First, never dispose of pills by flushing them down the toilet. Toss the childproof bottle into the trash instead. That's not the greatest solution, but, at this point in time, it's better than the flush. http://articles.sfgate.com/2008-03-14/opinion/17168053_1_new-drugs-pharmaceutica\ l-industry-big-pharma OK now sharing this article I may have calmed you down about that Flintstones type vitamin...but how am I going to drink that next glass of water???? Eeeek!!! =====
Guest guest
Hi and welcome! Basically NV is an all natural food product developed by Dr. Deepak Chopra and a team of world renowned medical doctors to support the metabolic system that supplies all of the essential amino acids and nutrients from food sources so easily digestible. There is more and more research on the importance of good nutrition and essential amino acids for neurological health and even neuro repair. There is a wealth of information about NV and what I just wrote at http://www.pursuitofresearch.org Here is the history of how it got started in this group a little over a year ago http://pursuitofresearch.org/the-history-why-nutriiveda-for-therapeutic-use-for-\ autism-apraxia-etc/ And here is one video update from Gretchen on her son which is just incredible! http://pursuitofresearch.org/2010/11/22/apraxia-road-to-recovery-before-and-afte\ r-videos/ Any questions just ask! =====
Guest guest
Thanks, guys! After the fact, I was figuring that since NV is completely water soluble, it was likely that the vitamin wouldn't hurt him since his body might keep that vitmain (since it wasn't all water soluble), and rid itself of the water soluble vitamins that were in excess, if that makes any sense at all? Don't know if that is true, but to my uneducated in vitamin science mind, it did ;-) I usually do tell people what my children can/can't have, but my sister (she's a young 22, with no kids) took the kids with her to go and pick up her vitamins and the lady at the vitamin shop gave the kids samples...grrr! My sister didn't even think about it until after the fact that Cale's supplement is purely vitamins (she asked my four year old if they had had their vitamins today and technically, she hadn't, but we don't call the NV vitamins, so it was confusing). Anyway, as soon as I heard, I went into panic mode, but I'm glad to hear it was not necessary. Thanks Again! -Brittany > > Hey Brittany! > > Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you.
