Guest guest
I just recently read that 50 to 60 grams is average (although most Americans eat too much protein according to the article). in GA > Protein > > > How many Grams of Protein should we consume/day and per/sitting? > Thanks! > Sara > > >
Guest guest
Gee , I don't know. When I make it with the 2 scoops, I sip on it for about an hour. Today when I mixed it with the Citrucel, I used only one scoop. Maybe someone with more knowledge can answer that one. I'll ask my dietician friend at work and let you know. Thanks for the info. Guest guest
Vitalady says 30 grams of protein at a time is all the average person can absorb. ..... I am having trouble finding a powder I can stand.... The Isopure I found just so so... Maybe I need to add the additional sweetener? I really wish we could just mix and go and not HAVE to add anything to make it tolerable. The only tolerable I have found so far has been Carb Solutions... But only the premixed. The powder is atrocious! I have a box of Vitalady samples... I still need to try, but again, it's the adding stuff to make it drinkable that has me in a dither. ;o] The Balance bars a great, thanks Betty for reporting on them... I really like the lemon and triple choc ones... Hugs, LyndaV Cushing Oklahoma USA p8nlady@... 9/5/2001 296/168 ...I am always happy to be a contact. Guest guest
Hi , Yes, I ordered some Isopure but got diarrhea after only a small amount. I use the AdvantEDGE shakes (no fat, low carb) and Adkins Advantage (have some fat and carb but more protein) and I tolerate these OK. I guess the powders are just too concentrated for me + I can't stand the smell. Thanks! Sara

Guest guest
Dear Shirlee, I have been told to eat plenty of protein but to avoid the red meats and boy, one even small steak will do me in for a few days! Chicken, fish, beans (eg black beans),eggs and yogurt have good protein and generally aren't too high in fat, which is the other thing to avoid. Guest guest
Dear Marty, The red meat especially (I've also had a problem with too many peanuts) caused me to be very spacey, shaky, serious brain fog and at one time I didn't remember anything of the evening before (my dr. got upset and said that when I got that bad I needed to be in ER). It also causes sleepiness ( I've never been this bad but too much sleeping can mean a coma in serious cases. ) It's all caused by the ammonia build up in the blood - hence the lovely medicine Lactulose which keeps you awake by having you run to the bathroom a lot....We have so much fun, don't we? Forever running, Amy
Guest guest
I have a lot of friends who are nutritionists and they say for my body weight I should only be eating 30 grams of protein a day. And I’ve heard previously that any more thn that your body cant process and has to use calcium to break down, thus depleting the bodys stores of calcium, which is why in countries that eat a more vegan diet (no meat or dairy), their rates of osteoperosis are minimal compared to western countries where a lot of protein (and calcium, eg milk!) is eaten. Thus I believe recommending a high protein diet is dangerous. Also it puts a lot of strain on our kidneys, from what I understand from my readings. RE: buckwheat and carbs Protein. Its stays in your stomach longer, helping you feel satiated. So put chicken, beef, eggs or nuts on your salad. It makes a big difference. I sometimes take a hardboiled egg with me to work for a snack. You can also snack on a handful of nuts. It is so hard getting used to this diet. I know. I tried it many, many times or the past several years. No it’s becoming old hat. But, I have such a strong conviction this now, to stop feeling so crappy all the time, nothing can deter me! --- Incoming mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
> The human body only needs 8-12 percent protein each day!! Yes, I've read this before, but I've also read that a person who is attempting to recover from an illness requires far more nutrition than a person who is merely trying to maintain their health. So does that number apply to someone maintaining their health, or someone improving their health? My own personal experience shows that increasing protein increases my EMF tolerance. I also think that increasing protein helps your body get toxins out of the body, as the amino acids in the protein act as a carrier which binds to the toxins and allows them to leave the body safely. As for the questions of animal vs. vegetable, I'd say that people should do whatever works for them. I've seen from my own experiences that there is at least some truth to the blood type diet, which says that some people do better with animal sources, and some people do better with vegetable sources. Guest guest
Vegetarians come down with cancer too, maybe not as much, but they do get it and tho they stick to their diet they may succumb. I think there is more to health than vegetarianism. I take in lots of protein, often from whey. Guest guest
, I have heard that vegetarians get cancer less than meat eaters. But I can see the advantages of your body receiving protein to help fight it. I feel there has to be a balance of meat to protein but what percentage? Guest guest
From: " Hazlewood " <stancy2@...> > I can see the advantages of your body receiving protein to help fight [cancer] Yes, protein has pros and cons. I'd probably consume a moderately low amount of protein, but it greatly depends on the individual. My 1st choices of animal protein would be baked, fresh , deep-sea/wild [non-farm-raised], cold-water seafood (ideally Icelandic/Pacific/ALASKAN SALMON, sardines, herring, & rainbow trout), and some turkey, chicken , and a possibly little lean bison, ostrich, elk, goat, game, or lamb (these animals tend to be grass-fed? & free-range) (ideally from Icelandic/New Zealand; it's grass-fed and essentially organic) or game. Avoid all animal fat (except fish fat and flax oil w/cottage cheese). Meat from Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, and local farms are the healthiest. Consume animal protein only before about 2pm, and take extra proteolytic enzymes beforehand. Eat ONLY organic (or at least hormone/antibiotic-free), preferably grass-fed , meat. The best source I know of is on www.mercola.com/store.htm. " To find grass-fed meats available by state www.www.eatwild.com. " I think the BEST AND SAFEST NON-ANIMAL PROTEIN SOURCES are green foods (algae, wheatgrass, barleygrass, alfalfa, etc.), leafy greens, tempeh (very absorbable form of protein), walnuts, almonds, mushrooms, and SPROUTS--particularly sprouted broccoli, garlic, onion, beans (particularly lentil & mung bean), and seeds (particularly sunflower). Guest guest
I eat fish and a little poultry (organic/free range) but absolutely no red meat as that has been proven to be cancer causing! Guest guest
How has red meat been proven to cause cancer? I would have you argue this with Aajanus Vonderplanitz who cured his own cancer by eating nothing but raw meat. There are no simple answers. Whether meat helps or hurts depends on the individual, the type and stage of cancer, the rest of the diet/protocol, and exactly what it is you are trying to do. In general you should strongly consider finding an anticancer diet that is quite different from the diet you were on prior to diagnosis. As with most things, there are exceptions. Quality of meat can be a factor. I don't encourage consumption of Mc's fried meat-like excretions served with French fried acrylamide. Recommended documentaries: " The Yes Men, " and " Supersize Me. " Certainly the majority of anticancer diets see fit to exclude red meat, but I think we have all seen a number of cancer patients regain their health while eating beef, etc. A diet protocol has to be pretty damn worthless if a hamburger or two is a death warrant. Would it be so be bad to sink your teeth in a juicy burger while imagining PacMen chomping away at a tumor? Having said that, I do want to say that a Breuss-type fast seems to be the best dietary method that I have seen that can shrink many types of tumor quickly. It is not the best choice for those who are wasting or for the weak willed.
