I've been using a program called adaware SE and it seems to have blocked the tracker.
Guest guest
Hi all - off topic subject but health related - Josh has been sick for a couple of days. He's had the stuffy nose, coughing, hacking, etc. but today his fever started up during the late a.m. - 101.8 by the time we got to the doc's office at 1:00p.m.. We went to the doc and he said it looked like the cold had turned into a sinus infection. So he prescribed augmentin (first time Josh is taking this med via pill rather than liquid!) for the infection. By the time we got home, his fever was at 101.9. I gave him the antibiotic, gave an ibuprofen (he's taking pills these days! yeah!!) but didn't drink much liquid with it - about 8 oz or so. He asked for something to eat so I made him a sammie and, by the time the sammie was made (PBJ - didn't take much time), he was asleep snorting and breathing kind of weird. I took his temp again - up to 102.8. I started freaking a bit since Josh has history of one febrile seizure and now seizure disorder - took his long pants off, used cool cloth on the forehead and wiped down his legs and wrists with it. Gave another ibuprofen (so total 400 mg) and he had at least a little sip more of liquid. Got on the internet and started looking to see what else I could do to bring down the fever quickly. Came across a website - www.earthclinic.com - and they had recommendations of putting egg whites on the bottom of the feet. I thought this is crazy, sounds totally nuts. He was still breathing kind of weird so took his temp again - still 102.2. So I figured what the heck, try the egg whites. So I took 2 egg whites, beat them up a bit, soaked paper napkins in the egg whites (apparently paper towels or paper napkins work best - regular cloth soaks up the egg too much), put the napkins on the bottom of his feet (you'd think this kid with sensory issues would be freaking with that feel on his feet - nope, no reaction at all so I know he's really sick), put his feet in gallon size plastic bags, then put his socks on over that. I did that at 6:57. At 7:13, his temp was down to 100.6. I took his temp again at 7:45 - down to 100.0. I just took it again at 8:10 - down to 99.8. He's sound asleep, but, yeesh, amazing! I know it could be the combination of all that I did/tried but it sure came down awfully quickly after putting the egg whites on! I guess the theory is that the egg whites draw the heat down to the feet away from the head where high temps could do some big damage. He's sleeping really soundly now - no weird breathing, very little coughing (like only once in a couple of hours), very sound sleep. Of course, he hasn't eaten anything or taken his Keppra for his seizures, but he's had some liquid. I'm sure he'll wake up at midnight or something hungry. Oh well. The website says if you don't have egg white, chopped onion with a little vinegar would work or chopped or shredded potato. Go figure!!! Take care!
