Guest guest
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH just seeing that name I want to scream!!!!! I personally would run from any professional that recommended Speak or at least kick them in the shins, or yell at that for being an idiot. I highly suggest you seek a second opinion from someone who can look at the (in my opinion and based on NIH guidelines for upper tolerable levels) MEGA dosages of fat soluble vitamins E and K. Don't quote me anymore because I'm trying to bleach that (in my opinion) CRAP speak from my brain but think it has 250 IU of alpha tocopherol/ vitamin E and 100 IU of gamma tocopherol/ vitamin E per capsule....so how old is your child and how many capsules were recommended because this is the NIH guidelines for UPPER tolerable levels. This is just for E from the NIH Table 3: Tolerable Upper Intake Levels (ULs) for Vitamin E [6] Age Male Female Pregnancy Lactation 1-3 years 200 mg (300 IU) 200 mg (300 IU) 4-8 years 300 mg (450 IU) 300 mg (450 IU) 9-13 years 600 mg (900 IU) 600 mg (900 IU) 14-18 years 800 mg (1,200 IU) 800 mg (1,200 IU) 800 mg (1,200 IU) 800 mg (1,200 IU) 19+ years 1,000 mg (1,500 IU) 1,000 mg (1,500 IU) 1,000 mg (1,500 IU) 1,000 mg (1,500 IU) http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/vitamine/ Speak is not fish oil -it contains fish oil. In fact because the person that patented it through her hospital took my formula of 2 proEFA and 1 ProEPA as she said by me sharing it it was " public domain " it's a great formula which probably would have worked much better if you pumped it into the cream filling of a Twinkie in regards to less side effects being reported. You could mix fish oils with anything, food, drinks...even arsenic...and speaking of poison look up the word " hypervitaminosis " which is a term for vitamin poisoning. Here's one link http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/126268-overview but you may not find much on the seizures and regressions reported because honestly what parent in their right mind would put their child on a mega dosage of vitamin E and K?? I mean outside of those of us here- and you thinking about it for the same reason we tried it -we didn't know. But now we do know from this group and someone should document it in the medical community -at least what happened in this group. What is infuriating is that it appears to me this company is trying to brush the results of our children from this group under the rug. My son's massive regression is well documented by all his school professionals...in fact I had to go to his school and do a circle of friends to the entire school, students and professionals because nobody could understand why all of a sudden my son who was doing as well as he was here http://www.debtsmart.net/talk/tanner.html could no longer talk. You don't even want to know what a nightmare it was- and he was on this product less then 2 weeks and it took 7 months for him to come anywhere back to where he was prior -but still not the same and it appeared to affect his metabolic system as well. Why did I keep my son on a product that made him regress for those extra 5 days after the severe vomiting and diarrhea that I didn't think was from speak and the doctor that formulated it assured me was probably just from " something he ate " instead of saying it's probably just from something he ate " but " " it could be a sign he is getting too much vitamin e " No...I had no idea there were any risks as none of us knew. we were told vitamin e was " benign " And in addition so what if a child regresses off fish oil...that happens all the time if you use the wrong formula, forget a day etc. You put them back on and poof they come back. No speak was a nightmare because you were now dealing with fat soluble vitamins so it's not a " poof " they come back. In my opinion nobody should try it and all should be aware of what has been shared about this product by those that used it. But every cloud (or can I call it a tornado) has a sliver lining. Because my son had such massive regressions on that what I consider to be a product that should be pulled off the market immediately and even if one continued to use it they should be fully aware of all side effects reported by others, and under strict supervision with medical testing by a medical doctor...and because that product appeared to damage my son's metabolic system which had tested normal previous but you can actually see a difference in photos after use....Speak is the reason I put him on Nutriiveda to begin with if you read the history here http://pursuitofresearch.org/the-history-why-nutriiveda-for-therapeutic-use-for-\ autism-apraxia-etc/ About Speak -here is an archive....to me trying Speak is like trying the drug Crack -you don't want to try even one dose...it didn't take long for the side effects to be reported and the problem is that most that have children with seizures or other reported side effects once on this (in my opinion) CRAP won't put two and two together to realize that they as the parent just (in my opinion) overdosed their child on CRAP. And before the 2 people jump in and say how they love Speak- yes we know there are a rare few that it works for -but anything with that high a risk of side effects in my opinion is not worth trying -or losing one's professional reputation over by recommending something that (appeared to based on the many well documented reports in this group) have a much higher risk of negative than positive results. In addition -even if your child doesn't have a seizure or regression on speak- research long term side effects of mega dosages of vitamin E...or even the meta analysis of those who used only 400 IU a day. Please feel free to share the following. Please know that this group had what I would consider to be overwhelming catastrophic side effects reported within days on the product you (in my opinion thank GOD) ran out of. My son Tanner had massive regressions which to this day I get emotional talking about. Not only in speech but in academics -just everything. It's almost like the product not only regressed him but as if he developed a sort of aphasia where he just kept forgetting very simple things...like how to say the letter B (that one was like ice water to me after he had been talking like this http://www.debtsmart.net/talk/tanner.html ) I had to go to his school and present in front of the entire school -all the students and teachers and head of school to explain why my son could no longer talk. A bunch of teachers thought I had put Tanner on some exploratory drug!!! But guess that isn't so crazy -the side effects he had were probably worse than most drugs. We also had reports of seizures and many other issues headaches which my son had too etc. You may want to look up this exact word " hypervitaminosis e " and also look up the meta analysis for vitamin e toxicity and for sure look up the upper tolerable level for vitamin e (I know vitamin k was off the roof high too but it's just too much for me to even go there yet to think of what I gave my child!) Make sure you are sitting down because some here were giving their child two to three times upper tolerable levels of the fat soluble vitamins through that product you were using that we no longer like to speak of here (get it You also can look up a Chicago Tribune article on it that was just published as there was or were complaints about the product -and here's a link from this page as to side effects /links/Pharma_Omega_Spea\ \ \ k_reports_from_group_001224703760/ Here is a link from our http://www.apraxia.org site http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=115029735601 & topic=10637 As far as cost effective -I have never seen surges like we have seen with NV with anything else- and can't imagine what it would cost or what any of us would pay to see what we are seeing in days, weeks, months. We have a few reports now of children no longer qualifying for services or going from a diagnosis of profound to mild apraxia in months...so do I think you should run not walk to check out NV....uh YES!!! For sure you should and in my opinion not just due to the surges. The only reason I put my son Tanner on NV to begin with was due to after that product you used that made him regress -it appeared to have messed up his metabolic system where no matter how healthy I fed him, how much he worked out and played he couldn't lose weight and kept gaining. I only put him on NV as it supports the metabolic system and was all natural and approved by not one or two -but nine different professionals including his pediatrician I checked it out with...the fact that his same head of school called me about a week after he was on it -about a year ago today -to say " What is going on with Tanner?! " and to report all the surges they were seeing in school was nothing shy of a blessing. It seems that if there was damage from that other product's mega vitamin E and K- NV seemed to make it not just all better- but help my son become better than anyone ever dreamed and in just about all areas you can imagine. Some here http://pursuitofresearch.org/pursuit-of-research/ But as I just wrote earlier today NV created what appears to be a paradigm shift in all we know. So yes maybe you can use less oils- but again I'd still stick with high quality oils. I spent time working on " why " NV may be working and you can find many blogs with links to scientific research at http://www.pursuitofresearch.org =====
