Guest guest
Hi Krista! This is a VERY interesting question and one I fully understand. This is also why I highly encourage parents to seek approval for nutriiveda usage from their child's doctor, nutritionist, and anyone they know that has great knowledge in nutrition -an author on the topic -a PhD -even better! Because...your fear is based (and don't take this the wrong way) in ignorance. Being fearful of nutriiveda is like saying " I'm afraid to feed my child healthy for a long period of time " Because that's what nutriiveda is -a REALLY healthy food. We know what whey isolate protein is- and anyone who is into health in any way drinks protein drinks. The whey isolate protein in nutriiveda goes way above and beyond anything you'd buy in a typical health food store in that most are not 100% natural since most use chemicals to separate the whey from the casein... and most around 96% whey isoalte protein. On the other hand nutriiveda- " money wasn't even considered " by the doctors when they found the best whey isolate protein money could buy which is 100% natural AND -almost 100% PURE whey isolate protein which is the easiest to digest by the body- great for little ones and for seniors. A huge problem on both sides -little ones and seniors is both groups consuming enough protein for health. We know from research how important the protein is -rich in all the essential amino acids now linked to neuro repair. http://www.sflorg.com/comm_center/medical/p974_99.html and how the whey isolate protein naturally raises the glutathione which is linked to so many good things for our children in regards to natural detox. There are over 300 clinical studies on every single element in the nutriiveda (NV) but of course no long term studies on the actual product as it has only was launched in September of 2009- so actually my son Tanner and Mel http://littlemermaidmelanie.wordpress.com/about are the longest on the product -both have had what would be described as life changing improvements being on nutriiveda -neither of our families can picture life without this product -would be horrified! But again I hear what you are saying - so perhaps your fear lies in what you don't understand -what most of us don't -the ayurveda. Each element in the nutriiveda is certified as food. While we may not have long term in 'our' knowledge if we are from the US or UK etc. in most cases about for example the ayurvedic aspect to the product we have a number of parents and professionals in this group from India and China who have more than once said that each of the ingredients of the ayurveda aspect are things found in any kitchen used as food or for cooking in food by anyone from India...and used for over five thousand years as ayurvedic medicine. One of our parents who is from China is a research scientist and I'm not sure if she wants me to use her name but she said to me there is nothing in the product that is harmful in any way -her only initial concern was " is it worth it? " For her autistic son -she has seen numerous reasons to answer that question YES and she says " this is a very good product " While this product was formulated and endorsed by leading medical doctors like Dr. Deepak Chopra and Dr. Simon -two alone who have MUCH to lose if this product was to have some sort of long term effect and they claim the product to have " no known side effects, no drug interactions " and no known overdose amount...let me ask you a question: Are you this analytical with everything your child eats or drinks? Do you make sure the foods your child eats aren't genetically altered and what if any are the long term effects of them? http://www.actionbioscience.org/biotech/sakko.html Do you make sure all the food your child eats are hormone and antibiotic free and if not what if any are the long term effects of them? http://www.environmentalhealththreats.com/environmental-health-hormones.shtml And let's get real Do you read and analyze your child's trick or treat bag? The popcorn or drinks at the movie theater with the same scrutiny as nutriiveda??? Our resident " blog master " for Mel's blog is my friend Jolie http://littlemermaidmelanie.wordpress.com/about-blog who has noticed this trend of fear of fish oil and now nutriiveda -of all things healthy it appears, in contrast to say the McFood most of us willingly feed our children without question has said " Do parents analyze a juice box the way they analyze nutriiveda?? " I know our group tends to be one that probably does read labels, feed more organic and all natural foods when possible...but we still live on planet Earth! So my question to you there is " WHAT ARE THE LONG TERM EFFECTS OF THAT?!! " I mean soil, water, air- we know they aren't all pure. And then that brings me to the topic of prescription medicine which is another comfort zone. A huge concern of mine is the increasing number of parents -including some of you here- have put your child onto medication recommended by your child's doctor whether it be Namenda a drug developed for adults with alzheimer's (!!! need I say more???) with a list of side effects one could choke a killer whale with http://www.drugs.com/sfx/namenda-side-effects.html and then there are the drugs for herpes also exploratory being recommended by some medical doctors to " treat " autism...and if your child is apraxic -oh well maybe them too why not? How many of you are told something by your child's doctor in regards to a medication they are recommending for your child and ask " what are the long term side effects of this drug? " You should...but what if it's a new drug? Are you just as skeptical. Not for nothing but easily the owner of Zrii -Bill Farley who has been a billionaire -solid billionaire since the 80s and a neighbor and friend of Oprah Winfrey, and friends with Dr. Deepak Chopra -easily this could have been if they wanted it to be some sort of prescriptive drug. Let's say they did already do a small clinical study on our group -we already know the results http://www.facebook.com/?sk=messages & ref=mb#!/topic.php?uid=115029735601 & topic=1\ 3611 would be off the charts. So if it was an expensive prescription vs something you can buy for 40 bucks a canister...would that ease worries? Probably -it's just our warped society. And the fact that Bill Farley and Dr. Deepak Chopra decided to launch it in a direct sales company??? double eeeeeeek! I mean if we had the robot from lost in space here he'd probably explode! I mean God forbid it's someone other than a drug company or Walmart that makes a profit...I mean what if it's a ...I don't know...children's nonprofit??? (here's where I put the plug in for http://www.pursuitofresearch.org ) But to answer your question- no there probably is no reason to put your son on the nutriiveda. It doesn't in any way sound like he's anything but a late talker to me and he was probably misdiagnosed as apraxic. Some professionals clearly don't know what apraxia is -but if your 2 year old is already talking and saying 2 word sentences...where is the delay??? It's probably time for you to get a second opinion on his diagnosis! I mean sure you could give him nutriiveda to supplement his diet if he doesn't eat well -again it's SUPER healthy....but why would one expect any surges in speech from the nutriiveda when they are happening on their own (and dare I say that in your child's case probably would happen even WITHOUT therapy!!) Kids with developmental lags in speech will benefit from therapy as of course it helps stimulate and could even accelerate the developmental process -but if for example you stopped the therapy (and at an age appropriate speech level why not?) his surge would keep on keeping on. I mean there is no such thing as super SLP last I checked and those here in the group can correct me if I'm wrong that will help your 2 year old " overcome " his apraxia by the age of ...um 2? I just want to again say that I agree with you -I am living on the same planet and probably you are in the US so the same country and have the same warped sense of what we are suspicious of...and it hit me like a ton of bricks as I posted here the day that my family and one of my kid's friends went to see some movie and the kid asked me " would you like a Sweet Tart " and I said " sure " as he was sharing them with my boys too....and what -that was just weeks after I too over analyzed the bejeevers out of nutriiveda with every MD, nutritionist, natural doctor, nutritional author, fitness expert PhD Dianne, and then on the internet searching for ayurvdic PhDs to call up and bug to check out this product...so yes MY confidence in nutriiveda is off the roof on nutriiveda that it's healthy for you if you are " human " unless allergic to one of the foods in it -AND appears based on feedback http://www.facebook.com/?sk=messages & ref=mb#!/topic.php?uid=115029735601 & topic=1\ 3611 if your child is autistic, apraxic, or has TBI, global delays, seizure or metabolic disorders it will be the OMG " food " you are looking for...but did I go home because I felt really really dumb about not even thinking twice about eating or letting my kids eat Sweet Tarts and research what exactly is IN a Sweet Tart? Yes I did -don't think you guys would like it to much if you really looked into half the stuff they market to our kids! Try to break the sick society mold we have here of questioning what is healthy be it fish oil or now nutriiveda for example- or at least apply the same rules to everything your child consumes -this is the lesson I'm trying to learn too!!! And trust me -now that I have pointed all this out you will think of this next time your child asks for a pancake you you whip out some log cabin butter-maple artificial flavored syrup =====

Guest guest
My son is in speech therapy and occupation therapy because he has very, very poor articulation and is almost unitelligable by most. He also had NO words just 2 months ago!  As I said, his progress so far has been nothing short of amazing but he is in speech 3x a week and occupational therapy 1x a week.  He also has sensory processing disorder and is very clumsy and uncoordinated.  He will be 2 in April and he is still far behind his " typical " peers in expressive language and his receptive language far surpasses.  The diagnosis was given by a very experienced dr whose own grandson is apraxic.  I'm not saying that he might not have been misdiagnosed but I always suspected him to have apraxia before he was diagnosed as well.  ,Thank you so much for your thoughts on NV.  Your right, I probably don't scrutinize all of Kane's food and drink; however, he does eat all organic and drinks only milk and water.  As I said, I am using it myself and I don't even hesitate to use it.  For my son, it is just a really hard thing for me not knowing if it is something he would choose for himself and him not being able to communicate if it makes him feel a certain way.  He is my oldest and while I choose everything for him, this to me just seems different.  I have no doubts that I probably will try it for him because I am still working on his eye contact which has always been rather poor.  I will probably wait until he levels off some and since I always have it on hand for myself, I can start it for him at anytime.  I have now lost 7 lbs in 3 weeks.  My goal was to lose 10 by May 1 (we have a vacation) and I now am considering upping my goal.  I haven't noticed any other changes in myself but having 2 small children, I have always been pretty active.  I have not even been eating all that healthy for my 1 meal a day.  My snacks are generally healthy and then I just eat a regular meal.  It has really helped me stick to a diet!
