I agree, !

Remember that when determining when to give NV and when watching for results

of NutriiVeda (NV), it's important to take many factors about each child

into account: age, severity of apraxia & /or autism, other diagnoses, verbal

skills, sp-language skills, fine/gross motor skills, current eating

patterns, current sleeping patterns, history & frequency of illnesses

(colds, ear infections, etc.), etc.

So, we wouldn't expect a nonverbal child to suddenly say a 5 word sentence

after starting on NV. It could happen but does not seem common in the

results that have been reported to date. What we would expect, is that a

child with severe apraxia who is nonverbal may start to explore his/her

mouth/tongue, produce new sounds, etc.. improve skills overall by building

from the missing skills up to more age appropriate skills.

We need to be optimistically realistic. NV is making huge changes in kids

across the board! We just have to be careful that we don't expect too much

too soon and overlook what changes may occur.

For example, I have seen several of my clients on NV becoming more assertive in

what they want to do within the therapy sessions. I don't view this as a

negative..quite the opposite. I view it as a positive! I had a young

client on Tues who really wanted to play and not work on oral motor skills

first. He was so cute, saying " uh-uh " and banging on the table to emphasize

his 'views'. Now, that doesn't mean that I gave in. I was able to guide

the session to include activities that he enjoys as we targeted oral motor

skills and speech production. It ended up being a productive session. You can

see some of the other updates of my clients here

http://pursuitofresearch.org/testimonials.html

I have noticed this new 'independence' in several of my clients who are

taking NV. It's great to see them gain this typical skill. Most

neurotypical kids begin to assert themselves as early as 2-3 yrs of age.

Also, as noted, these gains of the typical skills which kids need to go

through-do not seem to last as long as they would if they were going through

the stage at the regular age. (make sense??) So if a child has not ever

said 'no' and now they begin to say 'no', their new " defiance " seems to even

out within a shorter amount of time.

Of course review the NV with your child's doctor and if approved start ASAP!

Most docs say: kids under 3yrs = 1 scoop/day; 4-8yrs = 2 scoops/day;

9yrs-adult = 4 scoops/day (therapeutic dose)

Check with your child's doc but the best thing to do in a case like this

Gillian is reduce the dosage of the EPA or stop it -at least for a bit and

then try it at a lower dosage and gradually increase. The way to reduce it

without stopping would be squeeze out some of the capsule and then put the

rest in a ziploc baggie in the fridge. Also look at the time of day you give

it -but that may or may not make a difference.

As far as nutriiveda I actually know quite a few parents that have their

children on the nutriiveda morning and night doing really well- including

Tanner. Ruby also posted here that she noticed the exact opposite reaction

-her child slept better on the nutriiveda. Just like your child's reaction

to the EPA -there could be reactions that we can't explain. What we need to

do is try to weight the good and the bad -what's healthy and best for our

child -work with our knowledge together with the advice from our child's

doctor and go from there.

I just for example got off the phone with Cassandra (you can read her one

update here http://pursuitofresearch.org/testimonials.html ) and her son Joe

used to not go to sleep until after midnight -bouncing off the walls -but

putting him on nutriiveda he is asleep each night by the " latest 10 PM now "

and she's thrilled by that.

Now when she posts I am going to get blamed again. Her son as you'll read

above was doing amazing and her husband like many was doubting it could be

from nutriiveda -I mean I believe most here don't really appreciate how

powerful this stuff is in helping our kids and by human nature will credit

the more expensive and complex stuff they are doing. Well I as always told

her to " take him off for a few days " and she called me today in a panic

because she didn't take him off -but she put him on a half dosage for 2 days

instead because " no way was I taking him off " and she said all the things

that had improved in Joe came back and her husband freaked out and said

" What's wrong with him?! " and she told him that " told me to take him

off " because " I wasn't taking the blame alone " Well she'll update more -but

as we know that's the only way any of us give respect to how well the

nutriiveda is working. And fortunately the surges come right back once on.

So actually Gillian your message came at a perfect time because while most

here are still learning about nutriiveda -we've been using the ProEFA and

ProEPA in this group for about 10 years with no side effects outside of

stuff like this which is typically mild and temporary - and it shows that

all of this is normal for these kids once they are put on the fish oils or

nutriiveda. Not that it always happens -but can. Like I said the fact that

we are seeing anything means something is happening. But again for sure

don't have the little guy up screaming at night -I'd for sure just start him

at a drop or so a day and work up. Sometimes the body just has to get used

to what's so healthy for it. Our bodies are so warped and confused upside

down from being tricked by processed, hormone filled, genetically altered,

and fast " foods " I mean think about it honestly as a parent you are more

afraid to try nutriiveda then to serve your child something that comes in a

fast food wrapping aren't you?! Fess up! :)

We are living in a world that's got a bunch of kooky things going on in it

right now -and to me the way to deal with that is to try to eat, drink,

breath and live as organic, pure, hormone and processing free as possible.

And like isn't this lovely?
