Guest guest
my daughter who is a bad hand washer, was taken off zoloft and put on luvox. She started 2 yrs ago, and worked up to 225 mg a day. Sadly she just got worse. It did work for awhile, but she started her period for the first time and I think that is what totally threw her system off. We are now weaning off of the Luvox and back to the Zoloft. Has he ever taken Zoloft? It worked wonders the first time around, but after 2 yrs it slowly started not wking too. --------------------------------- for Good Click here to donate to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. Guest guest
How much Luvox did you child end up on???? (we are wondering re: dose for our 11 year old, 80 lb girl) She is currently on 175/day, and seemed to get worse when Increased to 200, but also school started at same time, as did daily CBT. Hard to sort out. Psychiatrist and psychologist agree that we shouldn't mess with dose right now during intense time of therapy, but maybe try increasing again in 4 weeks or so. My daughter is quite extreme. > > Okay, I asked the doctor about whether or not Luvox is an SSRI and > was told > > that technically it isn't. Guest guest
My daughter on 150 mg (75 mg morn and night). She is 11, 80 lb. Took several weeks to see any improvement, and improvement is slight, but does seem to be there. She is also on low dose (.75 mg) resperdal with it. Resperdal alone was not working. The two together may be helpful. MD says we need to be patient. At least she is not getting worse and we have had no side effects, unlike so many other meds she has been tried on. > My son just started on Luvox, is taking 100 mg, twice a day. Guest guest
How well has the Luvox worked? Can I ask how bad she was and what differences you see? > > My son just started on Luvox, is taking 100 mg, twice a day. Guest guest
I think it is a combo of the meds, the therapy and some desire to get better. I don't know how well just the luvox is working, because Bre still does have some anxiety from time to time. Two years ago, before meds she had so much anxiety, she had chest pains. Just to learn she had a brain disorder and wasn't crazy helped some! The biggest help for her was therapy, facing her fears and realizing she can tolerate the anxiety. The ocd conference was a big help for her too. Bre has a more peaceful look on her face now. The meds take the edge off and help with her depression. Everyone is different and all I know is ocd is a daily battle to fight. Bre isn't afraid to fight anymore and for that I am thankful! Guest guest
My son takes a small dose of Luvox in addition to Zoloft. Initially he was taking Abilify (with the Zoloft), but this caused a drastic weight gain. The Abilify and subsequently the Luvox was added with the hope it would touch some of the stickler obsessions. Although anxiety is definitely reduced with the added Luvox, it unfortunately in our case hasn't eliminated the obsessions we had hoped. We've experienced no side effects (and especially no weight gain like with the Abilify). My son is only on a small dose (50 mg) of Luvox. I've seen other dosages here much higher. For now, we're content with the way things are going and the Luvox has helped in a way with reduced anxiety.
