NV and behaviors

My 3yo son has been on NV 1scoop/day since the end of October. We really saw

great surges in his speech, including increased sentence length (now consistent

4-5 word phrases) and approximating sounds for multiple syllable words where

before he would on make the sound of the first syllable. He still has great

problems with articulation and final consonant deletion, but he has definitely

been making steady progress.

Our biggest problem is that his aggressive and defiant behaviors have escalated

faster than his speech is progressing. You never know what is going to set him

off and when he becomes enraged, it is extremely difficult to calm him down. He

hits and screams at the top of his lungs, with episodes often lasting for 30

minutes to an hour. Our once easy bedtime routine has turned into 1-2 hour

struggles to keep him in bed and to fall asleep. The last 3 weeks have been the

worst, and I am at the end of my rope. Last Tuesday I finally decided to stop

the NV. His speech has become a bit more muddy, but I can see a gentle easing in

the frequency and severity of his behavior episodes.

In addition to my son's speech delay, he also has a swallowing disorder,

submucosal cleft palate, eosinophilic esophagitis and multiple IgE food

allergies to soy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, and mustard seed. He tested positive

to corn as well at one point, then tested negative at a later time, but food

trialing indicated that corn does trigger a flair up of his EE with increased

choking and vomiting.

Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with behaviors or if possibly my

son could be reacting to an ingredient in the NV. I do have to say that my son

does not drink a lot of fluid in a day's time, usually 500-750ml/day (on

thickened liquids d/t history of aspirating thin liquids). Could this be a

possible cause too?
