That's 4pm my time and I will be at work then. Guest guest
Francesca suggested I send a message to the group even though I'm more of a lurker. (Sorry I missed the buddy meeting.) I have been lurking on this list and the main list for six months or so. I'm 48 years old, a shade under 5'6", and weigh a shade under 110. I have a seven-year-old daughter so I have to live a long time in order to see her get married and have grandchildren--hence the interest in life extension. I can't seem to do the chat room, but I would be interested in participating in the group (perhaps by emails). Here's my question: even before CR, I was eating fresh, rather than processed, food (just not making as good choices). I have not yet found a good way to approximate calories. The Fitday calorie counter (online) had been recommended to me, but it is hard to find unprocessed foods on it. What is the best source of information on calories of fruits, vegetables, fish etc.? Thanks for your help. I enjoy reading everyone's messages. -----Original Message-----From: Francesca Skelton [mailto:fskelton@...]Sent: Friday, May 17, 2002 7:20 PMsupport groupSubject: [ ] buddy meetingThe new sub-group of "buddies" met on Friday and we enjoyed getting to knoweach other. We decided to leave things "loose" for the time being and justmeet again as a group, since so far there are only 5 or 6 people. Shouldthe group expand, perhaps it will easier to pair off.The next meeting will be Monday May 27th at 9:15 in the chat room. Join usif you're interested. In the meantime, members of the group are going tokeep a log of what they eat as well as approximate calories. BTW, it wasreally loads of fun!!Instructions for accessing the chat are in the archives; or e-mail me if youneed further help. It's very simple and great fun to chat one on one withothers on the list. I'll remind everyone again on before the next meetingwith time and place and I'll post instructions for access to the chat againas well. Guest guest
Hello, You found the right place to delurk. Welcome to the group and feel free to asks away. As far as info sources for calories in certain foods, the USDA database is the " bible " on this subject as far as I know. Walford uses the USDA database for his DWIDP. You can access the database here: http://yarrow.best.vwh.net/Usda_data/foods_db.html You can also link into Walford's website from there and download the free DWIDP. Just click on the software icon. Play with the link I gave you above, you'll find it is quite powerful. See > board or e-mail Francesca at fskelton@... for more > specifics to access the chat: 1)go to the support group homepage: / 2) Click on the word " chat " in the left hand margin 3) will ask for your password (so have it handy) 4) Wait a minute or so while the " chat " software loads 5) You will then have two separate boxes before you. The lower one with the word " chat " next to it is where you type your messages to the group. The upper one is where all that has taken place in the chat room will be written. See you there!
