Guest guest
what is nutriveda? ________________________________ From: lisad529 <lisad529@...> Sent: Mon, March 29, 2010 3:19:41 PM Subject: [ ] Nutriveda progress! We started Nutriveda on 3/10. At first I was discouraged because while my 2 year old daughter loved Nutriveda from the start,I was having a hard time getting my son who has apraxia to drink it... or eat it... in anything! After a bit of bribery -- which I am not fond of -- he started drinking it after I " doctored " it up a bit with Hershey's syrup. Since neither one of them had tasted chocolate milk before, that's what I call it. They both have it in the morning and if there is any left to drink up, they have it at lunchtime and can " earn " M & M's when they finish it. Again, not fond of bribery but it has been the only way I can ensure that the Nutriveda is finished each day. So, what have we seen? My son is sharing more information verbally... is putting finishing sounds on his words and is able to say some things he wasn't able to say before (like " Mommy " ). He is also able to whisper... He said " Daddy, red car, back home " with just a little separation between the words! WOW! I am also seeing a surge of age-appropriate naughtiness. .. which I am hoping is just a phase... which is coupled with an increase in some sensory behaviors. My daughter, who has neurologic symptoms with another origin -- at just two years old this month -- is starting to say her A,B,C's on her own and count to five...we were thinking she was possibly apraxic too, but now we know differently. Guest guest
Thank you so much for this update. My son too has just started whispering for the first time and I have not read this from others who started their child on NV. Garrett never seemed to have control over the sound of his voice before, he spoke so loud. We have tried to get him to whisper but he didn't seem to know how and now he seems to have that control. It's so encouraging to know that we're on the right track, and that finally Garrett seems to be making some progress. I did have doubts whether NV is causing the improvements as we only just started it a few weeks ago. I keep having those thoughts, " maybe it's a coincidence " . We have been working on these things for a long time, but the fact that there are a number of improvements and they happened so suddenly can't be all coincidence I guess! In fact, Garrett's SLP said how remarkable it was that after just one week on NV he went from barely blowing a horn to running around the room tooting the thing like he'd been doing it all his life! And today he walked up to one of his friends and said " Hi " and I'd never seen him do that before. My son thinks NV is chocolate milk too. Gosh, I'm feeling more hopeful for the first time in a long time! > > We started Nutriveda on 3/10.
