Dear Parents, Educators, and Friends of MAC,

MAC is launching its newest project, The Little Theater Project, this

month. Please look for announcements in your various local newspapers. The

Little Theater Project will begin with children ages 3-6 who have mild to

moderate problems or disabillities. It will function as a play group, while

using traditional nursery rhymes and the stories they tell for children to

use as characters in acting out the story with each other. The intent is to

examine if this language-based and rhythmic experience will improve language

reciprocity, social skills and self-regulation within the structure of a

performance medium. The size of the groups will not exceed 5, with the

number of children in each group dependent on their individual needs. In

addition to the rhymes, songs, dance and other rhythmic activities will be

added as appropriate. The Little Theater Project is designed into units,

the first unit starting in February and ending on March 17th, St. 's

Day. The culminating activity will be an actual performance for parents and

friends.

If you know of children and families who may be interested in participating,

please have them call us at 201-692-7908, or contact us through our website,

www.melodyaronscenter.org. More details will be available soon and posted on

the website.

Best regards from MAC to you and Happy New Year!
