Subject: I believe in Nutriiveda

Hi Everyone,

I am now ready to report on my daughter's progress with Nutriiveda. My

darling E. has severe apraxia (all 3 forms) with SPD and hypotonia. At three

she was " Profound " with no ability to imitate, speak, chew etc. (the

diagnoses we received were frightening). We have been very aggressive in

every way possible with her treatment over the years -- thousands of hours

of behavioral, OT, speech (with an Apraxia specialist - 4 hours a week). She

is in a Gen Ed Kinder class with a full time behaviorist. Full DAN!

protocol -- more than 60 Hyperbaric treatments, GF/CF/No Soy for two years.

She has improved significantly over the years and is now a happy girl most

of the time -- but her communication delays and related social awkwardness

continue to vex her and us.

As a side note, finding CHERUB and reading " The Late Talker " was a Godsend.

For the first time I knew exactly what was going on with my beautiful

daughter. I've literally bought more than 20 copies to give to every doctor,

therapist and teacher that works with her.

Last January we started on 2 scoops a day of Nutriiveda. For the first few

weeks it was a bit hit and miss getting the dosage in. Then, in early

February, she got an ear infection (she is prone to ear problems) and was on

and off antibiotics for a few weeks. Finally, in early March, we got a

system going to get the 2 scoops a day in her, which she has had for over 6

weeks now.

The first change I noted was a couple of weeks in, E. was open to trying new

foods. She wanted to eat strawberries. If I cooked them in egg, she'd eat

cauliflower and broccoli. If you knew her food history you'd know how HUGE

this is -- she never ate anything solid until 4 years old, and then just

very easily to chew stuff like pasta -- nothing with any texture to speak of

(and yes, total terrible history of GI issues, especially constipation).

Last night she ate regular cauliflower. Her entire diet has improved

wonderfully -- she is nearly eating everything her triplet (she's a triplet

and identical twin -- 2 months preemie, born at 3 pounds) sisters eat now.

And she's pooped nearly every day for a week! Woo hoo!

Next was the drawing -- she's had so much trouble with her motor systems

that she never drew, never did playdough -- she started drawing like mad.

Going through tons of white board markers and loads of paper. Animals,

people, lessons from school [me] " what's that? " , [E.], " the wind. "

Okay, but about speech. My SLP is BLOWN AWAY, as are we. HUGE HUGE gains

over the last month. Like nothing we've ever seen. She is making spontaneous

comments. We can understand virtually everything she says (from less than

half a couple of months ago). E. is trying to tell me what happened at

school. Most recently, with a little prodding on my part, we sat for nearly

two hours while I asked her questions about things she liked and she asked

me back the questions. Her eye contact was laser beam good the whole time.

It's important to note that this conversation happened AFTER we spent time

in the pool -- so her sensory stuff was better under control and she could

access her language.

" I'll drink it later. " (avoiding fish oil juice). " She do not understand "

(about a rather clueless nanny). " The Little Mermaid " , " The Cow Book " ,

" Chicken Nuggets " , " the computer " , (etc.) answers to " favorites " questions

-- she also mentioned all of them in the middle of the night last night when

she got up to go to the bathroom -- she wanted to start the discussion about

favorites again. (Funny how E. has always been partial to Ariel too --

sleeps with that doll every night for past 4 years).

Honestly, E. still has a long road ahead -- when you go 6.5 years without

being able to communicate with the world, you have a lot of catching up to

do. But, we are more hopeful than ever that she will make it all the way.

E. is really smart -- though most people look at her and don't think so.

She memorizes everything (she knows every state capitol) I think in part

because she can access memorized information easier.

I really recommend the Nutriiveda. I am having a blast getting to " know " my

daughter better. There's something in this stuff that's working. I'll post

again later. Thanks!

Oh Lois this is such a heartwarming update!!! Isn't it funny how the story

about Ariel finding her voice sometimes just fits so perfect for our children

-just like Robin's daughter our Real Life Little Mermaid (and NEW UPDATE

COMING! Wait till you read what is up with our little mermaid now!!!) I know

exactly how you feel, it's like a huge weight lifted from your shoulders. Like

no longer worrying about the future. Do you sometimes look at your daughter

and think it's almost like she is the way she would be if she was never apraxic?

I do that now with Tanner. At 13 I had accepted him for who he was, loved him

for who he was no matter what -and didn't even think he had that far to surge to

be " normal " and perhaps I'm right in now in so many areas he is above average!

Especially in academics which appeared to have happened overnight. I have to

ask his head of school if she will write something formally for me to share on

our website. Have you noticed surges in reading or anything yet???

To the person that asked do we sell Nutriiveda - yes

http://www.pursuitofresearch.org but it was originally meant for just the

parents as a fundraiser- what happened was far beyond that and I'm already

speaking with a few people as this will PROBABLY BE A MOVIE You watch (well I'm

sure you all will :) I'll also answer your question the same way I have to

others. If nutriiveda was a prescription that cost one thousand dollars a

canister and wasn't covered by insurance those of us that have seen what it does

would do whatever we could to buy it for our child- yes it's that profound. We

suggest you share this with your child's doctor to get approval to start- but

this is a whole food so in a way kind of like getting permission to feed your

child a banana http://pursuitofresearch.org/NutriiVeda_Information.pdf from this

page http://pursuitofresearch.org/faq.html

In my opinion we are extremely fortunate to even learn about it years before the

research I know there will be (and the movie) My son Tanner's surges on

Nutriiveda have been life changing and across the board. Not in just speech,

but across the board! It used to be just Tanner and 's story people

read about here after I first discovered this by accident. You may want to read

's blog to find out a bit about why we are talking about it

http://littlemermaidmelanie.wordpress.com/about (psst I already have the

actress to play in the movie and she has agreed last I spoke with

her!!!!)

And Lois back to your much deserved....CONGRATULATIONS!!! I believe in

Nutriiveda too!!!

And about the memory aspect -I have a bunch of this in the archives -literally

hundreds of messages about " phenomenal memory " in our children -below is a

compilation of a few of them!

No matter what the special need there are gifts given when things are taken

away. The gift given for speech impairments and delays typically is phenomenal

memory. Many actors are speech impaired to some extent- perhaps why they can

memorize those scripts better than most.

Tanner has always had the unusual memory like many of our kids do at preschool

age. For example -you tell your two year old late talker (delay or disordered)

that " no more cookies tonight. Tomorrow you can have another cookie " and

tomorrow morning that child wakes up and goes to the place you keep the cookies

and points. Or you drive someplace once and the next time you go there they

point out which way to go next on the road. Not the out of sight out of mind

short attention span most 2 year olds have.

There are a few reasons I feel this way -don't have time to go into all of them

now. But for one -most of us have found our children have these die hard

memories! Not a normal memory for a " normal " child -most kids you can get to

forget a point by bringing up

something else that interests them -not many of the children in this group! (of

course you can never say " always " -just more often than not. Just like the

trouble blowing the nose thing that I first brought up -this is yet another

observation you will not read about

in books...yet) When Tanner learns his spelling words -he not only knows how to

spell even hard words -he tells me the word on the list (of ten each week) and

then spells it -like his memory is a picture he can just look at.

Perhaps -due to using a different pathway and developing such pathway -they have

an edge we don't yet understand. Or perhaps it’s because while others their

age are able to babble and talk about anything that comes to mind that have to

hold each thought until they can figure out a way to communicate it to us

especially when it’s something important to them. No matter where it comes

from, keep in mind that is one of the signs of a gifted student.

My 8 year old son has severe apraxia and is very small for his age. I

went on line to research nutriiveda and it's being edvertised as a

weight loss product. Can you explain to me how this effects making

progress in apraxia?????? and can I afford to try it if my son has

issues with eating and weight gain???????

I have the same fear. But from what I have read, some children are gaining

weight on the product. I am ordering it for my daughter as soon as I can.

I've given it to my 3 year old son who has been slowly falling down the charts

since birth and is in the 10% now. I give it to him after breakfast or lunch to

supplement his calories and in the past three weeks, he's gained nearly 2 lbs.

As a weight loss product, it fills you enough to eat less and it also optimized

digestion. but for my son it means that he's digesting the food he does eat

better, more completely and he's getting the nutrition from NV that he's not

getting because of his picky eating.

I don't know how it's helping my son's speech, but he is so understandable now.

Nutriiveda is not a weight loss product it's a weight management product that

supports the metabolic system. Of course when it comes to marketing it was

launched as a weight loss product because quite honestly...OK how many of you

are looking go gain weight as adults? (insert cricket sound here)

I have not only spoken with Bill Farley about what is happening in our group,

but am in contact with some of the doctors behind the formulation who are world

renowned. http://pursuitofresearch.org/advisors.html

And there are quite a few theories as to why this may be helping our children's

speech. http://pursuitofresearch.org/science.html

We address the weight loss question here

http://pursuitofresearch.org/faq.html

Here's a page you can present to your child's doctor

http://pursuitofresearch.org/NutriiVeda_Information.pdf

Please do your research on the actual ingredients and at our pages as we do not

focus on why this (big time) will help those that need to lose excess fat and

toxins. I mean if they wanted to market it for seizures, autism, apraxia they

would have to have clinical trials to back that up. There will be -I know that

for a fact -but as I heard from the top source in the company " it will take

years "

And I know that's the case due to the monies we are raising to have PUFA

research done with leading doctors- it will take around 3 years when all is said

in done due to paper/leg work if you are going to do a formal study. But it's

like waiting to eat an orange to get the purest form of vitamin c until there is

a study and you have scurvy.

What I find intriguing about nutriiveda is that you can put an entire family on

it -and everyone will have significant benefits in the area they need.

And not to go off on a tangent but my aunt who has her PhD in nursing -the one

who about 11 years ago now said it was fine for me to give Tanner fish oils.

Well Aunt Leona fell a few months ago and broke her hip. My brother who is a

partner at Freehill Hogan and Mahar- one of the largest maritime law firms in

the world http://www.freehill.com/attorneys/fernandez_m.cfm put the link to his

page for all you doubters as all the nutriiveda stories sound made up too good

to be true. Well-he got my Aunt Leona the BEST surgeon at the BEST hospital in

NYC. And if you think doctors make horrible patients -then try a PhD in

nursing!!! Well anyway as most know it's a difficult time after hip surgery-

especially for a woman who is going to be 89 years old this Saturday.

Well the entire time I've had my son Tanner on nutriiveda, then me, then my

other son, my husband, then my mother and sister started...well you get the

picture. My Aunt Leona refused to take it " until she researched it " which she

couldn't for a few reasons. Long story but makes sense if you hear the entire

thing. Cut to last weekend. My Aunt Leona has a round the clock nurse taking

care of her in her apartment now after being in and out of hospitals for months

as she is refusing to take or do just about anything. This nurse is not only

cooking her all organic foods, juicing for her...and my Aunt Leona is eating

well -but she is wasting away. My family said she was very weak and was now in

a wheelchair -her spirit gone, she had given up.

I kept bugging her. Aunt Leona I can't explain it to you over the phone but

this is formulated by world renowned medical doctors including Dr. Deepak Chopra

and it is 100 percent natural and contains per serving ALL of the essential

amino acids your body needs and loaded with 22 vitamins and nutrients ALL from

whole foods, It's gluten, casein, fat, sodium, caffeine free (etc. etc. as

she's on a special diet) I told her Please just try it for me!

I think the only reason she tried it is because she thought she was going to die

anyway -honestly. She could barely speak, she said she was wasting away and

just wanted to die. She was very weak. The nurse and my family all thought

this past Saturday " this is the end "

I didn't. I have that much faith in nutriiveda. You know it was kind of like

Popeye when he eats the spinach. The next day my entire family visits her again

expecting the worst, and in fact it was feared she would not make it through the

night. But you see all that day she had agreed to drink the vanilla nutriiveda.

SHE LOVED IT!! (they mixed it with pear juice and yogurt) She had little cups

of it throughout the day -all together however about 4 scoops.

The next day -Sunday -everyone was shocked. She was back to being all cranky

and complaining about everything -but wide awake, walked around the apartment 3

times (!!!) where she was not able to stand on Saturday. And yes she's still

doing well. I am 100 percent convinced that if she didn't drink nutriiveda

Saturday she would have died. She was eating but for whatever reason her body

was not utilizing the foods even though they were fresh and organic. She was

(sorry if this is TMI) prior to Saturday horrifically constipated and now her

nurse Jacky told me she is going to the bathroom 3 times a day and they are soft

and she too credits nutriiveda. It's the ONLY DIFFERNCE!!!

So for the mom asking " why would I give this to my son who needs to gain

weight? " Why in the world would I insist my elderly Aunt who is wasting away go

on this if I didn't 100 percent understand this is NOT a weight loss product -it

is a whole food that will provide the body with what is essential to it. In my

opinion the reason it is working for so many- 1 year olds to now an 89 year old-

is because it contains nutrients that perhaps are missing from our diets, from

the soils greatly. Clearly it contains all the essential amino acids. There is

tons of research you can do on nutriiveda but if you only look at the marketing

for the weight loss -you are missing some of the most beautiful research to help

your family ever. I could tell you stories I am hearing now that would make you

think I was making them up. But goes back to my magic orange theory. (if you

read the theory page I explain)

Bottom line is the more you research nutriiveda -the ingredients in it, how it's

made, who is behind it, why it could be working etc. The more you will want to

put everyone in your family on it.

And by the way -my friend who is a medical doctor of internal

medicine in Brick NJ is recommending this her patients that are seniors

too...and is a diabetic on insulin. Just like those that have lowered

and soon will be eliminating seizure meds (not in my words -this is from the

doctor) has lowered her insulin- and she is far from the only one.

As said " this is a very very good product "

Oh and PS -I did go from a size 4 to a size 2 drinking the exact same drink, and

my neighbor who is a pro golfer with the LPGA lost 28 pounds on it in one month

-so clearly if you do have the excess weight- it does work for that too. But it

is WAY WAY more than that. It has been life changing for my son and so many

others -and now we know it's also a live saver in more than one case.

And again -I am in contact with the docs and company and the owner Bill Farley

who is friends with Dr. Deepak Chopra which is how this all started -and happens

to be Oprah's friend and neighbor in Chicago as well

http://www.meetbillfarley.com So you tell me 's story isn't going to be

a movie. http://littlemermaidmelanie.wordpress.com/ Bill Farley who inspired

the movie Pursuit of Happyness -the Gardner story -he believes me :)

And just in case the above still wasn't enough to convince you that nutriiveda

will help in the way one needs it- here's Dianne's one update where she lost 15

pounds the same month her son gained 3 and grew and inch and had surges in all

areas...and like most very quickly- one day to a few weeks and trust me you'll

know what I'm talking about in almost 100 percent of the cases based on what is

being reported.

Liam discovers his inner Brittish

We're seeing incredible gains with Liam. Took him to his DAN doc on Monday and

she not only approved using NV (after verifying with me that the botanicals

weren't tainted in any way and the whey was casein-free), but agreed with taking

Liam off of the multivitamin (Vitaspectrum) she had put him on, adding only an

extra Folate + B12 supplement and zinc, since blood work showed he is low in

these things. She remarked on how much healthier he looks - no longer has

translucent skin, lots of color in his face. Liam has also grown 1 1/2 inches

and gained 3 lbs. He seems happier, and no longer begs to stay home from

preschool. Still more attentive and engaged. Asking WHAT questions (had never

done before) and speaking in more complex sentences. He is even imitating the

British accent the Pig family has on Peppa Pig! too cute! His imaginative play

has increased, including - and this was a big one we thought - bonding with one

of his stuffed animals and actually naming it. He has never cared about stuffed

animals before - ever. He has carried this one around with him now for 3 days

and sleeps holding onto it. He puts it in his wagon and wheels it around the

house, and it plays games and watches DVDs with him, too. We are thrilled! He is

sleeping deeper/longer/better. His appetite, which has always been good, is even

better. We are so very pleased!

As for me - I've lost about 15 lbs., my energy level is great, I'm sleeping

better, and my head is much clearer - not sure exactly how to describe what has

happened, but I've felt so foggy for so many years that I've not even been able

to recall the words to songs that I hear over and over. Maybe processing speed

of some sort? At any rate, that has resolved, too.

I wish I understood exactly what it is in NV that is helping my son and me so

very much, but whatever it is its making me feel better than I have in years,

and it's clearly making a big difference for our son, which everyone has noticed

and remarked on!

How many scoops are in a canister?

[ ] Re: Fwd: I believe in Nutriiveda

Nutriiveda is not a weight loss product it's a weight management product that

supports the metabolic system. Of course when it comes to marketing it was

launched as a weight loss product because quite honestly...OK how many of you

are looking go gain weight as adults? (insert cricket sound here)

I have not only spoken with Bill Farley about what is happening in our group,

but am in contact with some of the doctors behind the formulation who are world

renowned. http://pursuitofresearch.org/advisors.html

<http://pursuitofresearch.org/advisors.html>

And there are quite a few theories as to why this may be helping our children's

speech. http://pursuitofresearch.org/science.html

<http://pursuitofresearch.org/science.html>

We address the weight loss question here

http://pursuitofresearch.org/faq.html <http://pursuitofresearch.org/faq.html>

Here's a page you can present to your child's doctor

http://pursuitofresearch.org/NutriiVeda_Information.pdf

<http://pursuitofresearch.org/NutriiVeda_Information.pdf>

My brother who is a

partner at Freehill Hogan and Mahar- one of the largest maritime law firms in

the world http://www.freehill.com/attorneys/fernandez_m.cfm

<http://www.freehill.com/attorneys/fernandez_m.cfm> put the link to his page

for all you doubters as all the nutriiveda stories sound made up too good to be

true. Well-he got my Aunt Leona the BEST surgeon at the BEST hospital in NYC.

And if you think doctors make horrible patients -then try a PhD in nursing!!!

Well anyway as most know it's a difficult time after hip surgery- especially for

a woman who is going to be 89 years old this Saturday.

My family said she was very weak and was now in a

wheelchair -her spirit gone, she had given up.

I kept bugging her. Aunt Leona I can't explain it to you over the phone but

this is formulated by world renowned medical doctors including Dr. Deepak Chopra

and it is 100 percent natural and contains per serving ALL of the essential

amino acids your body needs and loaded with 22 vitamins and nutrients ALL from

whole foods, It's gluten, casein, fat, sodium, caffeine free (etc. etc. as she's

on a special diet) I told her Please just try it for me!

I think the only reason she tried it is because she thought she was going to

die anyway -honestly. She could barely speak, she said she was wasting away and

just wanted to die. She was very weak. The nurse and my family all thought this

past Saturday " this is the end "

(they mixed it with pear juice and yogurt) She had little cups of

it throughout the day -all together however about 4 scoops.

Hi, yes my E. has gained some weight -- everyone is commenting on her rosy

cheeks! She is my thinnest kid by far and it is great to see her looking

healthier.

, yes E. is doing much better in school and home therapy. I think she's

feeling better about herself too, because she can communicate better too.

Some of the moms reported that their kids got a bit hyper for a while after

starting -- E. did get more sensory for a while but is it settling down now.

We needed to cut back on some of her other supplements that are stimulating.

She slept great last night an seemed calm this morning. Of course she had OT

last night -- the more movement the better for her. Everything is connected

for my E. -- the better the oral/eating -- better talking -- better body

control, etc. Call it global apraxia or SPD or both -- my kid has a global

issue and it will need to all get better.

For me, Nutriiveda validates the Biomedical model -- as kids with delays

(and especially kids with oral apraxia and sensory issues that have limited

diets) don't seem to be getting the nutrition they need and that is

interfering with the benefits of therapy. However the Nutriiveda is

formulated, the kids seem to be able to absorb it easily and see fast

results.

Take care everyone.

I have read your theory page and all the info you and the company that markets

it have. Is there anywhere else where I can find info? Preferably not from

someone who is selling it? I have googled it almost every day for the past 2

months, figuring it was new and more info would come up from different sources,

but so far I have come up empty.

I am in the process of researching the ingredients and do plan on bringing the

information I do have to my daughter's neuro. next appointment, but I really

want to have info that comes from a source other than the creators/salespeople.

Thanks!

And there are quite a few theories as to why this may be helping our children's

We address the weight loss question here

http://pursuitofresearch.org/faq.html

Here's a page you can present to your child's doctor

Please do your research on the actual ingredients and at our pages as we do not

is WAY WAY more than that.

Hi ,

Please e-mail with questions that you have. has been on it and we have

seen many positive changes. The most impressive change to us was when

was laying in the ICU and they were trying to get her to have a seizure while

hooked up to the EEG machine and was not successful. I knew the Nutriiveda was

working for but it was nice to see proof. Today I was playing scrabble

with one of my daughters and she was teasing me as she was winning and Mel was

listening from another room and she came over to me on her own and patted me and

said " it's ok " . " I like mom " . Wow we all were blown away with what she had done

and what she had just said. This is another first for Mel. A month ago Mel

was fighting for her life and today she was trying to console me just like I was

trying to console her in the ICU. You can ask my friends I am the worlds worst

salesperson and if a friend wants to try the product I will share what we have

but add no pressure for them to purchase it.

If you feel I can help, please feel free to e-mail me at rcketchem@...

Take care,

Robin

who about 11 years ago now said it was fine for me to give Tanner fish oils.

>

>

Popeye when he eats the spinach. The next day my entire family visits her again

expecting the worst, and in fact it was feared she would not make it through the

night. But you see all that day she had agreed to drink the vanilla nutriiveda.

SHE LOVED IT!! (they mixed it with pear juice and yogurt) She had little cups of

it throughout the day -all together however about 4 scoops.

>

>

I could tell you stories I am hearing now that would make you

has lowered her insulin- and she is far from the only one.

I'm the same way -I always would have looked for sites that didn't sell

it. The good thing to keep in mind is that this is based in whole foods and

ayurveda and there is a ton of clinical science behind the ingredients if you

search scholar or PubMed.

There are only two sites I know of that have information from our group about

nutriiveda and are not selling them -and that is from our parents.

Here's Sharon's blog about nutriiveda http://vraciufamily.blogspot.com

(she has a before and after video up for our group about nutriiveda)

Gretchen " s blog http://www.walsh101.typepad.com Gretchen also has some really

cool before and after videos for nutriiveda but don't know how to navigate her

blog -but either way you can hear how awesome is speaking and read her

testimony below.

Both Sharon and Gretchen are active members so perhaps they or others with blogs

I missed can jump in.

Sharon's experience with nutriiveda for her son

Nutriveda Before/After Video

About 1 week ago I posted the following note about my son's 2 wk experience with

Nutriveda and promised to post before/after footage. I can't figure out how to

get the footage onto BigTent or apraxianet, so I've added it to my personal

family blog and wanted to let you all know in case you'd like to check it out.

http://vraciufamily.blogspot.com - video was posted Feb 23, 2010 in case you

need to go to archives (eventually).

The first post was taken Jan 25, the day before we started Nutriveda. The 2nd

post was taken about 2.5 wks later. I'm not sure you can see drastic results in

his articulation, but per my prior post, we've seen wonderful results all around

- mostly in verbal complexity and temperament. We think at the least the NV has

allowed to feel better. Considering he's sleeping through the night better,

not constipated any more (1st time in a year!), able to convey more complex

thoughts and itching less (no more eczema!) I'd be in a better mood too!

Original post sent on 2/17/2010

Just finishing up wk 2 of Nutriveda and have good things to report. Here are the

details on my son and our experience thus far.

ABOUT RYAN:

34 mos old; diagnosed w/CAS at 24 mos. He's on 2 tsp/day of NN 3,6,9 since

diagnosis and we've seen very positive effects from using it. Most recently, we

had an OT eval and were told there may be mild issues with decreased oral motor

awareness & tactile discrimination, vestibular & proprioceptive processing as

well as praxis w/unfamiliar motor tasks - whatever all that means (we're still

learning about the Sensory Processing components of this - he seems just old

enough now to pick up on these things...ugh!).

EXPERIENCE w/NUTRIVEDA:

Dpsage for is 1 scoop (8-9 level teaspoons). The first 4 days he took 3-4

tsp/day. During that time, he was nothing short of AWFUL. He was whiney, crying

and just plain defiant no matter what the situation. Anything would set him off

and we saw no improvements whatsoever. If anything we thought his speech sounded

a tad worse.

Then came day 5... woke up in the BEST mood and had the sweetest

temperament all day - no roller coaster fluctuations. Was he still a 2 yr old

little boy who can be snotty and doesn't always pay attention, certainly, but it

was different. The only way to describe it is that there was a level of

resistance that was gone. is an easy going kid, but more and more lately

we've been met with resistance to any and everything. It finally seemed as if he

was...dare I say it...a normal 2 yr old? Day 6 - same thing. Again, there was a

different kind of peace/calmness in him. My husband was upstairs w/

looking down at me and said " isn't mommy pretty, ? " and said

" Mommy, you are pretty. " And...he used the T!!!! He's never been able to say

that letter before. Also, we noticed he was singing all day, humming, and

chatting more than normal. Finally, we started having hope that maybe it was the

NV? I increased his dosage to a full scoop and he went downhill again for

another 3-4 days before he leveled out again. We believe his body was

purging/detoxing something.

WHAT IMPROVEMENTS WE'RE SEEING:

1. Demeaner: This is where we've seen the most significant improvement. The

sweet part of is so very sweet, but always seems to be overpowered by this

massive defiant side. It seemed consequences (time-out, taking something away

even a spanking every now and then) were no deterrant. He simply was going to do

what he wanted to do regardless. Since he's my first child, I didn't know if it

was terrible 2s or what. However, after seeing him have such wonderful days

lately, I see it was something more. Again, only way to say it is that the

resistance is gone. He seems so much happier, compliant and go-with-the-flow. 2.

Verbal Complexity: Seeing positive things here too. For instance, instead of

saying he wants to go to the bike shop with his daddy by saying " me go " or " me

go with daddy. " He says " I want to go to the bike store with daddy. Daddy, don't

go yet, wait on me. " - WHAT? This is happening in all aspects of his speech -

even pretend play. He's also mimicking me more and more.

3. Articulation: This hasn't surged a ton, but has definitely improved. He is

able to say more sounds more frequently. " T " for the first time, " Ns " are 80%

there. I even hear him focusing on ending words correctly instead of leaving off

the last consenant. My in-laws heard him talking on the phone and were blown

away by the clarity (let's be clear, there is still not optimal clarity, but

much improved).

4. Focus: Stronger! This morning he played alone for 1 hour. That is not common.

He did a few puzzles and I noticed it wasn't the usual trial and error to find

the right location for each piece. He was actually looking at the image on each

puzzle piece and trying to match it. Haven't seen that before. I never thought

of him as unfocused, but I see a difference.

5. Fine/Gross Motor: Not sure I see anything different here. This is hard b/c

he's only 2, but we'll see. He did learn how to cut with scissors, but not sure

if it was naturally learned or due to NV.

6. Social: is very social and likes to be the center of attention, but

mostly w/adults. He attends preschool 2x/wk (2.5hr classes) w/100% typical kids

and LOVES it but when it comes to classroom setting, his teachers say he still

parallel plays and doesn't initiate w/the other kids. I know Ry well enough to

know it's not b/c he doesn't want to play and talk with the other kids, it's

because he can't...he can't talk to them and knows he doesn't have anything to

say. So...he'll walk up, hand them something and walk away. (it's quite

heartbreaking actually). However, we're seeing a big difference here. At church

daycare this weekend, instead of running straight to the teacher for attention,

he walked over to a kid building a block tower and said " WOW! That is really

big! " Also, there was a little girl fussing and he walked up to her and said " it

be okay " and patted her on the shoulder. He is walking up to people and saying

hi and asking their names. He's talking about the DETAILS of his day more than

just answering questions with yes/no. Maybe it's a confidence? Who knows.

7. Sensory: We are seeing no change in his suspected sensory issues. But I'm

hoping with time this changes.

WHAT'S OUR PROMPT THERAPIST SAYING:

Overall very impressed. She also mentioned less resistance in demeanor and in

his jaw. He's making sounds easier and things seem to be flowing

differently/better. She said his focus was significantly better and she's not

having to PROMPT as much as she was a week ago. She's thrilled.

HOW IS HE TAKING IT:

We mix the vanilla w/Bolthouse Farms juice smoothies. If you don't have time to

make your own smoothies, I'd reco purchasing these. They come in a TON of

flavors & 's able to take a half scoop in one drink (2x/day). You can find

them next to the milk cases at Wal-Mart, or at Kroger's in the produce section

next to the bagged lettuce/specialty dressings - same for Whole Foods.

Overall, my skeptical husband and I are convinced that most of these surges are

due to the NV. Sometimes we can't pinpoint what's different about , but

something is...something there. We had him tested with a DAN doc the week before

we started NV to better understand what is/is not working in his gut/system, but

won't get the results back until April. We're hoping when we meet with DAN in

April we'll get some insight into what exactly the Nutriveda is helping regulate

in .

Hopeful and excited! I have video of him talking from the week before we started

NV and will take more this week. As soon as I get it posted I'll let you all

know.

Sharon

And Gretchen's experience with her son for Nutriiveda

One Month Update - Nutriiveda

What a Winter it has been!

We've been super buried with snow here in Columbus, Ohio since February began.

I'm talking 25 inches of snow.

I've been reading all the emails from the group, but because of the snow (and

now a major roof problem) I've been working a lot of hours, so I haven't had

much of a chance to respond.

Here's how is doing....

He started Nutriiveda back in January, and has now been on it for one month.

We've increased his dosage from one scoop to almost 2 a day. I was able to do so

because I've found so many ways to include it in his diet. We're still mostly

mixing it with milk, but I've also been making him a milkshake every day before

he goes to his afternoon preschool class. It's a typical chocolate

milkshake with ice cream, milk, a small amount of chocolate syrup and one scoop

of powder. He LOVES it and I must say, it tastes pretty darn good.

The gains. Oh the gains.

I'm really happy with the amazing progress.

's progress has been HUGE across the board.

His main SLP is not aware that we have been trying Nutriiveda. When I took

to speech 2 weeks ago, she happily told me that she is seeing " fewer

signs of classic apraxia. " She now says his issues more resemble a phonological

processing disorder - which is apparently a lot less severe than apraxia. She

has always described as having classic apraxia - since she first started

treating him when he was barely 3-years-old.

boy sittingOf course, I love that Coop's articulation is improving, but the

difference I'm most excited about is 's new word usage. The things that

are popping out of his mouth without him even thinking about...

Tonight, for instance, and I were having a conversation about recycling.

His Dad walked by and jokingly said " I think we should recycle all the little

boys in this house. " And without missing a beat, replied " No Daddy. That

would hurt! I can't go in the garbage truck! "

That's just one of dozens of examples of sentences that have flowed from his

mouth without him thinking about it so much. He just seems to be thinking

quicker on his feet.

Other areas of improvement have been fine motor, which was the area where we saw

the fastest improvement once we started Nutriiveda.

has also grown! I'm not sure how that plays into all this...but I did

have a Dad who follows DAN protocol for his child tell me that sometimes when

things get straightened out metabolically, you'll see a growth spurt. And

has shot up about a half and inch.

All good things!

We are so excited!

Gretchen

Both found here in the archives and on

http://pursuitofresearch.org/testimonials.html

I'm sure in time there will be more and more unbiased sites. But put it this

way it would have to be written by someone other than a parent or professional

because the results are that quick and dramatic and hard to be objective when

things surge that quickly just by serving your child some chocolate milk after

thousands of dollars and hours of therapy and not a fraction as much of a surge!

The aminos in NV are clearly listed as ingredients and indisputably healthy.

The ayurvedic ingredients are named, but the quantities of each are not and they

will never be as it is a proprietary blend. So in that regard a little blind

faith is in order. Ayurvedic ingredients are, while natural, potentially

potent. In the absence of any outside research, it boils down to trial and

error, word of mouth, and the willingness to try a product (with the

understanding it may or may not be helpful).

had an OT eval and were told there may be mild issues with decreased oral motor

awareness & tactile discrimination, vestibular & proprioceptive processing as

well as praxis w/unfamiliar motor tasks - whatever all that means (we're still

learning about the Sensory Processing components of this - he seems just old

enough now to pick up on these things...ugh!).

>

>

That is not

common. He did a few puzzles and I noticed it wasn't the usual trial and error

to find the right location for each piece. He was actually looking at the image

on each puzzle piece and trying to match it. Haven't seen that before. I never

thought of him as unfocused, but I see a difference.

>

>

If you don't have time

to make your own smoothies, I'd reco purchasing these. They come in a TON of

flavors & 's able to take a half scoop in one drink (2x/day). You can find

them next to the milk cases at Wal-Mart, or at Kroger's in the produce section

next to the bagged lettuce/specialty dressings - same for Whole Foods.

>

> Overall, my skeptical husband and I are convinced that most of these surges

are due to the NV.

>

I have video of him talking from the week before we

started NV and will take more this week. As soon as I get it posted I'll let you

all know.

>

>

>

>

I was able to do

so because I've found so many ways to include it in his diet. We're still mostly

mixing it with milk, but I've also been making him a milkshake every day before

he goes to his afternoon preschool class. It's a typical chocolate

> milkshake with ice cream, milk, a small amount of chocolate syrup and one

scoop of powder.

>

>

>

>

>

> Tonight, for instance, and I were having a conversation about

recycling. His Dad walked by and jokingly said " I think we should recycle all

the little boys in this house. " And without missing a beat, replied " No

Daddy. That would hurt! I can't go in the garbage truck! "

>

> That's just one of dozens of examples of sentences that have flowed from his

mouth without him thinking about it so much. He just seems to be thinking

quicker on his feet.

>

> Other areas of improvement have been fine motor, which was the area where we

saw the fastest improvement once we started Nutriiveda.

>

> has also grown! I'm not sure how that plays into all this...but I did

have a Dad who follows DAN protocol for his child tell me that sometimes when

things get straightened out metabolically, you'll see a growth spurt. And

has shot up about a half and inch.
