Guest guest
I have been putting together the pec cards/boardmaker things on my own. I ordered a basic set used from ebay and have downloaded a bunch off the internet. I have been a printing and laminating fool for the last couple of days! Anywhoo, I am wondering if anyone has some tips on the best way to organize the cards. Alphabetically, or by subject like Animals, colors, actions, body parts etc. I just want to be able to find what I need in a hurry, and utilize them in the best way possible. Thanks in advance yall! Guest guest
I organized my sons pecs book by subject. That way it was easier for him to find what it was he wanted to " say " It only backfired on me once when he decided at he wanted candy at 4:00 in the morning!!! You want to get to the point were your child is the one doing the finding and can give you one pecs at a time, then build up to doing a sentence strip. It was so great when my son started doing this as he was so proud of himself when I would take the pecs he gave me and say (with great relish!) " oh....you want to play " . Priceless! Guest guest
We store our PECs in slide holder pages, organized by topic. That way each page also serves as a topic board. Guess it depends on the size of your symbols, we use 1.5 " . Guest guest
We have a small binder... about 7 inches x 5 inches (child sized). We used larger sized pecs pictures as " tabs " or this binder. these " tabs " stick out.. (just like any tab would in a binder). the only difference is that these are larger pictures. (about 3.5 x 3.5 inches). Each of these tabs has a pecs picture for " eat " , " play " , there is another one for feelings, and another one for places. These tabs make it easy for our almost 4 year old son to " find categories " . Within each category are various pecs pictures which attach to each page with velcro. (see below). for the " places " category , I took pictures of various stores that we always go to, plus his school, the library, frequented restaurants, the playground, etc. We used velcro to hold all pictures on each page... this way, the pictures can be removed. We bought the velcro that has a sticky side... We ran each piece of velcro vertically on each page- (this is where pecs pics attach). For each pecs pic, we cut a smaller piece of velcro and put on the back of it. Small pieces then can be stuck to pages in each category... they also can be removed to assist in forming sentences. We keep pecs pictures for I, want, more, and " time for " at the front of the binder in a pocket. [ ] Re: boardmaker / pecs We store our PECs in slide holder pages, organized by topic.
