Guest guest
Hi Caroline! I finally had a chance to speak with Cheryl http://www.cherabfoundation.org/about/advisoryboard/cheryl-bennett-johnson-m-a-s\ lseducational-consultant our VP of Cherab and this is her response: As I do not know your child perhaps the best person to ask would be the child's private therapist who knows the child and can assess if the goals and progress are appropriate. If the goal has not been met for the previous months or year there is no problem in bringing them over into the new time line. If the child has mastered the objective they would not be moved over the same goals but it's clear your child has not met all his goals which is why the goals were moved over. Many therapists do this. You should have received an end of year summery which includes the goals that have been accomplished by the child and those that still need to be addressed. And you should have received an explanation as to why services would be increased or decreased. If you are really concerned about what the school is doing you should seek an independent evaluator and take the recent IEP as well as the assessment from the private therapist to seek an outside opinion. When was the last formal assessment/standardized test completed? What is not clear from your message is if your child is in out of district placement, what services she received through NPA (ST, OT, PT etc) (hope that helps!) =====
