Guest guest
Finally another recipe!!! would you mind if we share this on our recipe page http://pursuitofresearch.org/products/nutriiveda/nutriiveda-recipes/ What would you call them? 'Mom 's Simply Irresistible NV Sprinklies' ??? =====
Guest guest
No! It doesn't taste bad. If u r making a shake, there is no fat as there would be with a fast food one. So if a child is a picky eater, it's good to add a flavor they like. E.g. A little Ice cream or peanut butter or choc syrup Warmest wishes, Barbara A , M.S.,CCC-SLP CEO, Help Me Speak, LLC www.helpmespeak.com 2500 Wallington Way Suite 103 Marriottsville, MD 21104 410-442-9791 Ask me about NutriiVeda! Guest guest
Actually in regards to NV -no the taste doesn't make sense for some of the defensiveness we've seen in this group. If you read 's messages for example -previous to this recipe her daughter would smell out NV in any food she tried to hide it in. I've had parents say that their kids notice even minute amounts. I'm not just talking the picky eater kids -I'm talking kids that are used to eating an organic no frills diet, little to no sugar. We don't have this much difficulty with fish oils. This theory of mine has nothing to do with the current or past research -just based on the smelly T shirt experiment which shows how MHC helps the body normally. To understand what I am saying watch the video up on this page http://pursuitofresearch.org/2011/02/28/links-between-gluten-the-immune-molecule\ -and-increased-brain-connections/ MHC is involved in not just the immune system via smell, and in what we consume such as for those allergic to a particular food like gluten, the new research from UC revealed a molecular pathway " through which a peripheral immune response or particular genetic profile could alter early brain development " and " immune proteins don’t just regulate synapse density, they also determine the balance of excitation and inhibition on young neurons " a property critical for information processing and plasticity in young brains " My question, or my theory as to why such a STRONG ability and such difficulty at first in some cases to get NV in to kids when it helps them so much...is it possible that a dysfunctional system has a messed up MHC immune response? So in regards to NV like the smelly T shirt experiment where we are attracted to the opposite which is picked up via sweat and that is linked to us mating with one that will produce the healthiest babies...well isn't it possible there are people who are attracted to the wrong person, someone similar to their immune system which is bad if they want to mate? Via smell isn't it possible our bodies can be wrong about what we should or shouldn't consume as well? Especially in those of us with known neurological dysfunction or impairments?!!! And...especially in kids who notoriously will be attracted to foods that are not the healthiest if we let them eat what they wanted all the time. I mean come on people -we are talking about chocolate and vanilla powder. No it's not bad -and it doesn't have that strong of an odor that you should be able to notice it mixed into food. Some love it to start, most think it's at least OK and it's easy enough to " doctor " up by mixing it with things you like...but say it even did taste horrible hypothetically because taste is all relative anyway- you are telling me that taking a pinch of it and sticking it into a food the child likes, that the chocolate or vanilla will blend in to, they would be able to notice it? Yes I know for some picky eaters who typically have the WORST diets in the world yes -but perhaps in the case of the overly picky child -their MHC is messed up even more than the average which puts their body at even greater risk if they listen to it -or we let them. I'm talking the average kid who may be picky at times but eats a variety of foods- and again one who may be used to eating plain organic foods like NV. The ability by the average child to note even small amounts of NV -or to " sniff " it out...that never made sense to me. Why do we need an entire page for " how to serve NV " http://pursuitofresearch.org/products/nutriiveda/nv-serving-suggestions/ and the recipe page too when we don't even have that for fish oils which we've used for over a decade now?!!!...and just like someone being attracted to the wrong mate and producing a baby with a very weak immune system as a possibility for those who's system is " off " - our children, many of whom that 'are' picky eaters are attracted to foods that clearly are not the most nutritious or best for them. I mean two things are for sure -kids don't always know what's best for them when it comes to food, and there is much we are still learning about the brain. Good news is no matter how kooky messed up our kid's system's are, once they get the NV in for a week or so it typically gets easy -and in many cases they start to like it -even ask for it. And...no matter what the body itself knows what is good for it and we see the progress again in SO many areas http://pursuitofresearch.org/pursuit-of-research/ and in just about 100 percent -and some professionals have found it is working 100 percent in their caseload http://pursuitofresearch.com/2010/11/22/is-nutriiveda-creating-a-paradigm-shift-\ in-treatment-of-speech-impairments/ for those that are able to get it in!!! Again please watch this smelly T shirt experiment and see if you can understand what I am trying to say http://pursuitofresearch.org/2011/02/28/links-between-gluten-the-immune-molecule\ -and-increased-brain-connections/ Thoughts?? =====
Guest guest
I am starting to formulate a theory. My daughter had a pretty strong physical detox reaction when I had her on one plus scoops in the first few days. I am wondering if once she tied the two together, she became wary of the stuff. Since she has only been on 1/2 a scoop for a couple of weeks, slowing down the detox, I wonder if she will soon be willing to take the full dose when the detox is over? She was on very high dose steriods for a medical problem for 7 months, ages 2-9 months. I'm sure there's a lot of detox related to that--even this far down the road. Her pull ups and her breath tell me it is still going on. Does this seem like a possibility? [ ] Re: A successful recipe for my reluctant 5 yo!! Guest guest
Not sure, lots of the kids go through what seems like intense detox with a large amount of soft foul smelling poops etc. Some of those kids love it to start. And even during detox we note surges in almost all cases immediately. You too have been noting surges even though she's not even up to the full dosage which doesn't always happen -typically it's very dosage dependent. You should share about the improvement in her drawings which you'll be scanning and putting up on your website and how she just called you " Momma " for the first time!! THAT'S AWESOME!!! Who knows? Perhaps this is a sign that her immune system is improving I just updated the page here and added my question theory http://pursuitofresearch.org/2011/02/28/links-between-gluten-the-immune-molecule\ -and-increased-brain-connections/ =====

Guest guest
Well, I think the iPad-related cognitive explosion got in the way of everything else. A little background: My daughter is completely nonverbal--no words. When she has been tested by her therapists using traditional testing methods, she tested at about 2 years old for intelligence. We got the iPad the day after Thanksgiving, and she's played with it every day since. I download apps of all kinds, and she plays with them. Here's a list of what she has learned/demonstrated knowledge of through the iPad: matching, puzzles (24 piece), coloring, writing letters, sequencing, colors, shapes, humor. I recently bought a preschool book and starting doing the exercises with her and, except for writing letters and numbers (except on the iPad using iWriteWords), she has mastered all preschool material, so the iPad learning is transferring to the real world--it does not stay in the electronic world. The neurologist was blown away. She has said over and over that we really don't know for sure what is going on in her brain. Now we an clearly see what is going on, and there's a lot more than we ever suspected. One cool thing happened at the appointment. This morning, I had given my daughter a plum for the first time in months. She found them in the fridge and " asked " me for one. I told her they were plums and gave it to her. At the appointment, we had pulled up Proloquo2go, (like Boardmaker on the iPad), and were on the fruit page. She kept pushing the button to say plum!! I realized that she had recognized the fruit I had given her that morning!! And the coolest thing that this happened in front of the neurologist. We had another great thing happen, and this one I attribute to NV. I have her up to 1+ scoops a day and she has periods where she is really defiant, but she at least listens to what I say whereas before she would dig in and scream. She has done this at the doctor's office before, to the point where it has been suggested that she get behaviorial therapy. Since being on NV, she has really gained some self-control. At this appointment, she played quietly (with all the doctor's things) and demonstrated her iPad on a few apps, and then just used it for music and danced around. She was well-behaved and cooperative in that office for the first time in many visits. And that is definitely because of the NV. For the first time in a long time, I look forward to getting the doctor's write-up of the visit. [ ] Re: A successful recipe for my reluctant 5 yo!! Guest guest
you really raise an excellent point about the importance of iPads for not just augmentative communication, but to demonstrate cognitive and receptive ability for a school age 5 and a half years old that is completely 100% nonverbal. I know you homeschool but for those that don't, the iPad could be in today's world an even better way of keeping verbal disabled students from being misclassified and all from being misdiagnosed with cognitive and/or receptive impairments. In addition to the iPad's help, it's going to be so exciting to hear the NV updates from you as the weeks and months go on as there are so few completely nonverbal 5 year olds in the group to hear about further surges in your daughter in all areas. Hopefully you will be able to get her up to the full dosage -but awesome that you are noting improvements even at half dosage. And just to clarify here I mixed up 's 5 year old daughter with her 13 year old son when I spoke about the drawing improvement -I'm sure Steph will share when she can -it's all good!! Congratulations! I'm sure we'll be hearing even more good news from you soon! =====
