Guest guest
Social Skills 'R' Teachable Often, children with disabilities have difficulty with social skills; they have a hard time making and keeping friends, engaging in conversations, and navigating the less structured worlds of the lunch room and the playground. These deficits are especially pronounced in children with autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, PDD, AD/HD, non-verbal learning disability, anxiety, and/or Learning Disabilities. Like other skills, social skills can be learned. In these free two-hour programs designed for parents and educators, attendees will learn: * What are social skills? * How can social skills be taught to children across the age span? * What can parents do to promote social skills? * What are 'best practices' in social skills instruction? * How can the summer months be used to teach and maintain social skills? Time will be allotted for questions and answers following each seminar. About the presenters: C. Selbst, Ph.D. is Associate Director of Behavior Therapy Associates, P.A.
