Guest guest
Rise in Concern over Metabolic Syndrome Researchers have shown their concern over the metabolic syndrome as it may result in many complicated health problems. The Metabolic Syndrome is a range of problems, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol level, high blood sugar and fat around the waist. The syndrome not only increases the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and diabetes, but also elevates the risk of dementia and cognitive impairment. There are no symptoms of the disease but the experts advise the people to get their blood sugar level checked regularly, especially after the age of 40, for the early detection of the disease. Experts say that modern lifestyle and unhealthy eating habits increase the risk of developing the syndrome. Molly Wagster, of the National Institute on Aging Division of Neuroscience, says that all the components of Metabolic Syndrome could be treated or reversed with the help of medication or lifestyle changes. Experts suggest that healthy food choices, exercising daily, avoiding aerated soft drinks and fried snacks may help in preventing the disease. Doctors recommend that people above the age of 35 should follow regular exercise and yearly medical check-ups.
