Wrote this so quick -just want to be clear the 16 YO the SLP told me about is

now getting electroshock therapy and is no longer responding to PROMPT since.

The mother brings her son to get these " treatments " If she were me her son

would NOT be going for electroshock. Doctors can only recommend -they can't

force this!!!

I also just read this:

Electroshock always damages the brain

Electroshock always causes memory loss

Electroshock sometimes kills

Electroshock is never necessary

http://www.endofshock.com

Also again if you have a strong stomach -listen to this doctor

And my point about my Aunt is that she is 89 years old -it was probably half a

century ago -and she is still haunted by memories of those autistic children put

through electroshock. I thought it was over...but clearly it is back.

Are they only doing this for autism? I thought prompt is just for apraxia? If

I did not read this study I would not even believe anyone can do this. Kate

What if the child is like Mel, misdiagnosed? I can not believe that Doctors

would consider electroshock and that parents would go through with it. I mean,

I'm my child's first and only defender, if I don't protect him, who will? I had

trouble going to sleep last night, just thinking about these kids, how could the

doctors justify it, and why would the parents go through with it? I didn't even

read the articles. and even for Autistic kids, they are still JUST children. So

just because they can't relate/function well means that Doctors can do this?

This is really medieval and a sad commentary on the state of society and

medicine.
