Guest guest
A good app for sentences is sentence builder. My son and I just spent 30minutes today with it. He loves when he gets a sentence right because there are great verbal rewards. He loved the jumping crickets as well as the sheep that yells! Guest guest
Terrific! From: marie drury <marie_drury@...> Subject: [ ] NV update after 8 days Date: Sunday, April 3, 2011, 7:42 PM My husband and I are very skeptical people, but... our son (just turned 5- prek) has been on NV for 8 days now. What we've noticed the most...yesterday, we were with a friend of mine and her son in the morning. He just started talking away to her, confidently. She could understand a good part of what he was saying. Then, later we went to a bbq at a neighbor's. There were about 15 people there. He usually gravitates to kids younger than him- for social/communication reasons. We weren't really watching him- we let him do his things. Then I noticed he was in the backyard with this 6 year old girl none of us had ever met (daughter of the host's sister). She's in k-garten. They were talking to each other and showing each other what gymnastics moves they could do (he was showing her frog jumps, bear walks, wall handstands, tables, etc.). He's never done this so spontaneously with a child his age who he doesn't know. Then he went inside with her to the art table. She wanted to draw, so he tried to draw with her- and they continued talking. I could hear him ask her, " Can you draw an L? " He's usually SO awkward with kids his age/older (except for his buddies in class- those he's comfortable with)- just goofy and doesn't talk much. Then my husband and I heard him go over to a pregnant friend of ours and ask, " When is your baby coming out? " She completely understood him and answered him. Usually- he has to be really prompted to do any of this. And his speech in general seems more clear. And at the playground today, he jumped off of a 2 foot+ edge with no problems. He wanted to jump off something higher (and dangerous). I had to stop him. He's usually very hesitant about jumping off of anything higher than 1-1.5 feet. He's ok with taking it. We call it his " muscle drink " that helps him with soccer. We put his fish oil and one scoop of vanilla NV in blueberry kefir in the morning (in a stainless steel cup) and a scoop of vanilla NV in blueberry kefir in the afternoon. He gets a gummy bear when he finishes. Hope this is the beginning of good things! -marie ps. any good ipad apps (we're new to this too) for language- for example- he leaves out " is " or other verbs quite a bit or he'll leave out question words ( " is " again and other question words; he may say " Daddy to to work? " instead of " Did daddy go to work " or " Is daddy at work? " thanks. and any good beginner reading apps? he's starting to read little books with just a few words on a page. He's done earobics and is at the highest level on the different parts.
Guest guest
Weeee! You are seeing improvements. How exciting. Some people call me and my husband skeptical too. I don't know if the word is skeptical, but we do tend to analyze things longer than others I suppose. Even after our pediatrician approved NV I didn't order it for months. I now kick myself (and my husband LOL) for waiting so long! I call NV our Christmas miracle as I finally bought it for him as one of his Christmas gifts and he started talking more on the first day and is now talking in sentences and reading age level in kindergarten! Is your son in kindergarten yet? We are saving up for an IPAD so don't have any suggestions for that but have read many suggestions here. You can search in the message section. Guest guest
He just turned 5, so he's in prek at a private speech school and will go to a transition class next year before beginning k-garten. Thanks for sharing app ideas- he likes that kind of learning, so we're anxious to get started with it. ________________________________ From: mykitkate <mykitkate@...> Sent: Mon, April 4, 2011 9:51:36 AM Subject: [ ] Re: NV update after 8 days Weeee!
