My husband and I are very skeptical people, but... our son (just turned 5- prek)

has been on NV for 8 days now. What we've noticed the most...yesterday, we were

with a friend of mine and her son in the morning. He just started talking away

to her, confidently. She could understand a good part of what he was saying.

Then, later we went to a bbq at a neighbor's. There were about 15 people there.

He usually gravitates to kids younger than him- for social/communication

reasons. We weren't really watching him- we let him do his things. Then I

noticed he was in the backyard with this 6 year old girl none of us had ever met

(daughter of the host's sister). She's in k-garten. They were talking to each

other and showing each other what gymnastics moves they could do (he was showing

her frog jumps, bear walks, wall handstands, tables, etc.). He's never done this

so spontaneously with a child his age who he doesn't know. Then he went inside

with her to the art table. She wanted to draw, so he tried to draw with her- and

they continued talking. I could hear him ask her, " Can you draw an L? " He's

usually SO awkward with kids his age/older (except for his buddies in class-

those he's comfortable with)- just goofy and doesn't talk much. Then my husband

and I heard him go over to a pregnant friend of ours and ask, " When is your baby

coming out? " She completely understood him and answered him. Usually- he has to

be really prompted to do any of this. And his speech in general seems more

clear. And at the playground today, he jumped off of a 2 foot+ edge with no

problems. He wanted to jump off something higher (and dangerous). I had to stop

him. He's usually very hesitant about jumping off of anything higher than 1-1.5

feet.

He's ok with taking it. We call it his " muscle drink " that helps him with

soccer. We put his fish oil and one scoop of vanilla NV in blueberry kefir in

the morning (in a stainless steel cup) and a scoop of vanilla NV in blueberry

kefir in the afternoon. He gets a gummy bear when he finishes.

Hope this is the beginning of good things! -marie

ps. any good ipad apps (we're new to this too) for language- for example- he

leaves out " is " or other verbs quite a bit or he'll leave out question words

( " is " again and other question words; he may say " Daddy to to work? " instead of

" Did daddy go to work " or " Is daddy at work? " thanks. and any good beginner

reading apps? he's starting to read little books with just a few words on a

page. He's done earobics and is at the highest level on the different parts.
