Why do you need to find out how many calories it is? ==>Weight loss is the least of your problems when you have candida, which will normalize as you progress on this program. You have been doing a lot of exercise so give your body time to adjust after you've following the recommendations I gave you previously. Olive oil isn't a quick fix for increasing weight. Bee

Guest guest
Hi , that is true that the fat from cod liver oil should be counted toward your ratios, but to do the ratios, you don't count calories at all, you count grams. Guest guest
Well I guess I would have to research how many IU make a gram. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
Oops, I'm sorry , I see the problem now, you are taking capsules, and not straight cod liver oil, so you can not measure it in grams or teaspoons. Sorry I missed that the first time. Since IUs specify vitamin concentration in the oil, and not the oil itself, I don't think IUs would be helpful to look at either. Maybe if you call the company, and ask how many milligrams of oil are in each capsule, that might be an easier way to figure it out. Guest guest
> > Well I guess I would have to research how many IU make a gram. ==>, 1 tablespoon of oil equals 13.6 grams of fat, so you wouldn't translate IUs or MGs to grams either. It is the amount of the oil. Bee

Is it ok to buy any of these flavors? ==>Hi . High Vitamin Blue Ice is the best because you only need 1 tsp. per day plus 10,000 IU of vitamin A, from a capsule (a liver oil of some kind like halibut or shark - it shouldn't contain any vitamin D). Yes it is okay to buy any of the flavors. Actually cinnamon is antifungal, and it is also in Bee's Raw Drink. Guest guest
The amount of mercury in a good CLO will be very, very tiny and for the vast majority of kids the benefits of CLO far, far outweigh the risks with the mercury. Our kids are often highly deficient in omega 3's and the vitamins A and D that CLOs can offer. Lots of people like Nordic Naturals. Green Pastures has a highly recommended one (as the processing is more beneficial) but it is a bit harder to take because of the taste. It is sometimes helpful to try a few different ones to see how your child does. Guest guest
It can - along with lead, PCBs, and pesticides. The key is to find an oil that has 3rd party testing available showing the levels of these contaminants to tolerances that are sufficient to ensure that they are not toxic. Usually, such oils have gone through some kind of a cold distillation process. The two that we have found are nordic naturals and eskimo oil. As for the Green Pastures oil, as of 2 years ago Dave Wexler had admitted to never seeing any test results on this oil. With regard to Premier, I've seen the tests and the PCB levels were high. Guest guest
Thanks . Did you start with a low dosage and work your way up? I gave my son 1/2 a teaspoon last night...a full dose is 1 teaspoon so I may have started too high. Do you give it every day? I know it has some blood thinning effects so I am not sure if every day is okay and I haven't yet done enough research on it. Usually I research everything for weeks, but this has been used since I was a child so I feel some comfort with it. Any advice would be appreciated. Guest guest
I thought the full dosage of cod liver oil was 1/2 tsp. per day...not 1 tsp. per day? We were only allowed to do 1 tsp. per day for a 3 wk. healing period and then were instructed to go back to 1/2 tsp per our DAN's plan for our son. > > > > > > > > > It increased my son's speech (no negative effects other then part of the speech it > > increased was echolaic-which I am fine with:)) > > > > > > > > > @: avaloncreek@: Sun, 27 Apr 2008 18:46:58 +0000Subject: > > Cod Liver Oil > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I am thinking about starting my 11 yr. old DS on CLO. Guest guest
Thanks so much...I read through the link, but I am confused as to how much would be considered too much. If I give my son 1/2 teaspoon a day is that a safe amount. He has only taken it 2 days. If anyone else is using it and seeing good or bad results please let me know. And thanks again Mia. Yes it is okay. Take 4 teaspoons per day so you get enough omega-3 and vitamin D. However, you will also need an additional vitamin A supplement from one of the liver oils, i.e. halibut, shark, cod, etc. (it should not include vitamin D). Total vitamin A minimum is 20,000 IU per day. Bee

Bee, There is a file section (in the group) with a file about CLO (last updated in 2006). It says Garden of Life needs A and D supplementation. It also says take ONE tbsp. On your website, there is a page about CLO. It too says Garden of Life requires A and D supplementation. It also says take only ONE tbsp. Please clarify. Guest guest
The Whole Foods in Oakville, which is about 2 hrs away from you carries it. Maybe they'll mail it to you. Or one day when you're out exploring your new environment you could take a drive out there. It's on Trafalgar Road Oakville. But Garden of Life is expensive, so it is cheaper to take only 1 tbl. and supplement with vit. A & D. If you do a little calculating you can figure out these things too. I buy Garden of Life CLO which is lemon flavoured. I don't think it tastes fishy at all, but that's a matter of taste, eh? You don't have to take CLO by mouth; simply rub the recommended amount into your lower abdomen every day. Some people also mix it with warm-hot water, which waters down the taste, even though fat and water doesn't mix very well. they toss it back quickly all at once, followed by something tasty like Bee's Egg Drink.
