Guest guest
> > I am taking the old world icelandic cod liver oil, so what is the dosage for that one? +++Hi Tara. If the brand is Garden of Life, take 1 tablespoon per day, along with a separate fish liver oil that contains 10,000 IU vitamin A and 400 IU vitamin D, so you are getting within these totals: Vitamin A: 20,000 IU - 30,000 IU Vitamin D: 800 IU - 1,200 IU Omega-3: 2,000 mg - 3,000 mg (EPA plus DHA) Or calculate it yourself if it isn't Garden of Life. You can either take 2 tablespoons of GOL CLO, OR take 1 tablespoon plus extra A & D, which costs less. Bee
Guest guest
> > Dear Bee and All, > > I have been reading Bee's articles, and I have also been looking up other source on the internet. I admire you, Bee, for being able to decide what seems or is true in the midst of so much conflicting information that is put out there. I hope I will get like you myself one of these days! For instance, I have read that cod liver oil inhibits digestive enzymes to a lesser degree than nuts and seeds do, but still it does. Is this true? And is this one of these cases where we need to " pick our battles " and accept that one downside in light of the great benefits of the CLO (vit. A,D, omegas?) > +++Hi Helene. You are right, that is another one of those myths/lies! And there is no downside at all! If cod liver oil inhibited digestives enzymes, then all of us would have digestive problems, but I don't, and many people on my program are curing their digestive problems. Sldo Dr. Price brought back people from death's door by giving them just cod liver oil and butter oil. The body is able to produce proper digestive enzymes if there is enough stomach acid and fluid with foods emptying out of the stomach (period) All the best, Bee
Guest guest
Hello Angeline, If you take the Garden of Life, Bee recommends two ways to ensure you are getting the recommended amounts of vitamins A, D, and omega 3s: 1) you take 2 tablespoons per day (you do not need three) 2) you take one tablespoon per day, plus an additional 10,000 vitamin A such as found in halibut or shark liver oil, and an additional 400 IU of vitamin D These are the standard dosages. Is there some reason you feel you need more? Best, andra group moderator > > Hi Bee, > I'm currently taking fish oil (Carlson Lab)+ shark liver oil 20IU. I live in Florida but don't go out much and don't get much sun. I'm also black. I'm thinking of switching to Garden of Life's cod liver oil (3 tablespoon a day). Do you think is good idea or would it be too much for me? I'm currently taking medication for depression & anxiety and I'm hoping the code liver oil will help me get off it. Guest guest
Hi Angeline, andra answered your question about Garden of Life CLO. I think you should read my article on Depression & Anxiety: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/treat6.php You should be gradually lowering your medications for depression since they are toxic and will interfere with your healing. But it must be done very slowly. All the best, Bee > > Hi Bee, > I'm currently taking fish oil (Carlson Lab)+ shark liver oil 20IU. I live in Florida but don't go out much and don't get much sun. Guest guest
Hi , Usually you have to take a lot of capsules in order to meet Bee's recommendations for Vit A and Vit D intake, so it can get quite expensive. Usually CLO is easier. Best, andra group moderator > > Hi Bee, > > Does it matter whether I take Cod Liver Oil or the capsules? I have been taking Garden of Life Cod Liver Oil (1 tbsp) with 1 capsule of Natural Factors halibut Liver Oil per day. Recently I switched over to Life Time Omega 3 (2 per day) and Natural Factors Halibut Liver Oil (3 per day). I know you always say how important Cod Liver Oil is. When you say that is taking just the capsules just as good as taking the actual cod liver oil? > Thanks for your help. > >
Guest guest
Actually it's only 5 total between both of the capsules and I have found it to be about the same in cost. Either way I'm not too concerned about the cost. Am I missing something on the dosage? I am going off of Bee's supplement chart and I thought this was the right amount. This product is not available at iHerb but it can be purchased at many local health stores or other online sources. This product is naturally derived from purified and filtered fish liver oil, so it isn't derived from soy. Even though it doesn't state it is soy-free, if there is any soy in it the amount would be very small. All the best, Bee

(And how much vit A to add???....) +++Hi , Dave Wenzel, who makes the feremented CLO, cannot claim any standard amounts of omega 3 and vitamins A & D in his products. The ratios of omega 3 and vitamins A and D I recommend have been used by myself and people on this program for a very long time, and we are all doing very well. I've done a cost comparison of the fermented CLO to taking 1 tbsp of Garden of Life Cod Liver oil plus 1 capsule of Natural Factors Halibut Liver Oil and my combination costs a lot less. It is also more accurate as to the amount of omega 3 and vitamins A & D. Bee
Guest guest
Don't know about Kirkman's but we use Nordic Naturals' Ultimate Omega liquid and there is no fishy taste at all. You're actually more likely to get that fishy flavor with the capsules in my experience. Comes up later as burps - which is rather unpleasant. You can avoid this somewhat by keeping the capules in the freezer. > > I would like to give daughter Kirkman's liquid clo, but hubbie, remembering his childhood, says it will taste horrid! Guest guest
We can't do any of the flavors either. We went with Carlson's unflavored and yes it tastes awful so switched to capsules when the girls could swallow pills. They never complained about burps until the capsules. It does taste awful but IMO the burps later are rancid tasting. I also didn't see the same wow with the capsules, if your child does not digest well, the capsule may not work. We went back to the liquid and use oral syringes to give it to them. The pharmacy will give them to you free of charge often times Not sure this helps but, my two cents
Guest guest
Hi Sasha, All supplements, including cod liver oil, must be taken with complete meals that contain good fats and also protein. It has been my experience, it's better to take cod liver oil just before I eat a meal so I'm less likely to burp it later. I take my second dose at least 3 hours before bedtime for the same reason. Some people take 2 tbsp. while others take 1 tbsp along with halibut liver oil, so splitting doses is not necessary. Cheers, Bee
Guest guest
> > 2nd dose meaning it is best to split the 2 tsp.s it says to take on bottle into 2 doses? +++Hi there. Is your name Tara? As I wrote to Nan this morning, you do not need to split doses of cod liver oil. How much you take of a particular brand depends upon how much omega 3 (EPA & DHA), and vitamins A & D it contains. I recommend Garden of Life CLO, which available at iHerb: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/resource/iherb.php Ensure you are getting these nutrients levels in your cod liver oil, or you may need to buy a separate supplement: Recommended Daily Amounts of Omega 3, and Vitamins A & D 1. Vitamin A: 20,000 IU - 30,000 IU 2. Vitamin D: 800 IU - 1,200 IU 3. Omega-3: 2,000 mg - 3,000 mg [EPA plus DHA] See this article which explains it: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/cod2.php All the best, Bee
