Guest guest
Doug, (de-lurking myself) I live on Okinawa and my parents are amazing. Although this is not `scientific evidence` my parents are in their sixties and do taichi (as well as eating a pretty healthy Okinawan diet with mild CRON effects). They both say that Taichi has made their bodies more flexible and younger. Considering that the shape they are in puts people their age in America to shame I believe that if THEY say tai chi is a fundamental part of why they look and feel younger I believe them. My mother looks younger even compared to other Okinawans (she is considered a health food fanatic here). Perhaps some of the other people on the list can give you more scientific based studies in regard to things such as tai chi, meditation etc. having positive effects on aging. But for me - seeing the effects with my own eyes is helpful. Ed P.S. They also use herbal medicine and cupping (part of acupuncture) regularly, as well as chi gung. If you're hunched over and inflexible, it can't be much fun to get old!
