Has anyone gotten results with Reliv' whole food shakes? Or is NV the only

but have been reading alot about NV.

Thanks for any help you can give us. Deb

We looked into reliv mostly because of the origins of each company. (One started

by a christian and one a Hindu)

From what I understand, reliv just doesn't hold a candle to NV. Compare the

ingredients and nutritional info. prob has more exact info

We ended up on NV and have seen results w/ all of our kids neuro and neuro

typical

I'm so happy this did come up before -because then I can (say this is a high

sing song voice) " archive "

But first Debbie -any results on Reliv -that would be great if you can update us

comparing one to the other. Like fish oils the thing is with this type of food

therapy it's no biggie if you switch and try other things. As long as I've run

this group- NV has something in it that is beyond anything anyone has ever seen.

There are so many possible reasons why it's working -I try to cover some of the

scientific theories which would all be based on the very basic level on

nutrition. As simple as that sounds -it's so complex!!! Like read this one

http://pursuitofresearch.org/2010/12/10/mitochondrial-dysfunction-in-autism-and-\

other-disorders-can-diet-help/

I've been a health nut just about my entire life -drinking protein shakes -and I

always looked for the best, working out, organic, updating myself on what's new

in health research with nutrition..and yet when I started drinking NV- I went

from a size 4 to a size 2 not changing anything. And if I lost any weight prior

to NV I'd lose it in my face and would look too skinny -as I'm half Spanish and

have the type of body that tends to carry more in the South- I mean OK I was a

size 4 where my neighbor says " shut up nobody cares " but I lost the weight all

in the area I've ALWAYS wanted to lose it. Everyone noticed it and why?!! I

mean was it that simple -I drink a different protein shake for a few months?!!

So my neighbor who is Laurie Rinker a professional golfer with the LPGA and the

most awesome person in the world- she goes on NV because it's a long story but

she had put on about 30 pounds....and I know this sounds extreme -but she lost

28 pounds in one month- a few weeks of that while on tour -it was shocking. She

had tons of energy and looked better than she ever did. So THAT's what they

developed NV for- and it for sure works for that too. And I would love to have

any of you try any other shake out there and compare- because I've had years of

trying so many- not just whey but soy, rice, etc. I was always looking for the

best protein powder and if you know anyone into body building -protein powder is

taken serious -and NV rules in that arena too.

But one thing I just wanted to clarify -the company Zrii -the CEO is multi

billionaire Mr. Farley. In fact most of you are very intimate with Bill

and probably don't know it- one of the other multibillion dollar companies he

owned is Fruit of the Loom :)

Here's Bill Farley's website http://www.meetbillfarley.com As far as Christian

-one of the other companies that Bill Farley brought from multimillion to

multibillion when he owned it is Christian Dior.

I honestly have no idea if Bill Farley is Hindu as it never came up in

conversation -but Bek perhaps you are referring to Dr. Deepak Chopra MD -a world

renowned medical doctor that is one of the distinguished medical doctors behind

the formulation and endorsement of NV and the other Zrii products and a very

dear friend of Bill Farley's that he did go to when he wanted to start this

company. Here is info about Dr. Chopra and the other doctors behind NV

http://pursuitofresearch.org/endorsed-by-the-chopra-center/

Bill Farley like me has always been into health all his life too. His goal was

to bring together the wisdom of 5000 year old ancient eastern medicine together

with the scientific knowledge and validation from western medicine. To

introduce ayurveda to all of us in the west which translates to the science of

life. We all use it even if we don't know it -get sick and drink hot liquids or

soup- using foods to nourish the body. Ayurveda how it differs from western

medicine is it looks at the entire body and not just the symptom. If you take a

drug for example for heart disease it will be very good for heart disease but

horrible for other organs in the body. I was just on the phone yesterday with

(don't worry won't say your name) a parent from this group with an essentially

nonverbal 6 year old on a host of supplements and medication for Alzheimer's

disease -and now her Dan doctor suspects her daughter is having seizures -she

actually promised she will share once she starts NV which won't be for another

month as she has her daughter on a very intensive medication protocol for some

other condition the doctor's came up with. Please read this here because I

break down how sometimes through nature you get the results -even better ones

without the side effects

http://pursuitofresearch.org/2010/11/29/autism-antivirals-drugs-or-food/

It's not that I'm against medication -but I am totally against off label adult

medication for say Alzheimer's disease which has a host of side effects even in

adults has not been studied in children and for a doctor to " try " this as a

treatment for apraxia on a 6 year old child?!! I find this criminal and believe

50 years ago doctors would never have gotten away with this! And you know I

didn't ask her if her Dan was a medical doctor and what was his medical

background -or if he's not -but if prescribing Alzheimer's disease medication I

guess he's a medical doctor of some sort. This mom is planning to stop

everything else (except fish oils and she didn't want to stop the B12 either

-but everything else including the medication) and just use NV -so in about a

month we'll have that update too.

But back to the CEO and owner of the company behind NV -Bill Farley is friends

with so many incredible people from all walks of life. For just one example -

his neighbor and good friend is Oprah Winfrey and in his home are amazing photos

of some of his other friends -like former president Clinton at Bill's house

playing the saxophone!! I honestly was inspired to name our fundraising website

Pursuit of Research because Bill Farley mentored and inspired Gardner (who

was played by Will ) in the movie Pursuit of Happyness (that's how it is

spelled!!) For those that didn't see that movie I have a clip here

http://pursuitofresearch.org/our-mission/ I've always been impressed by people

that pulled themselves up from nothing to become something -to be able to

continuously give back to the world and try to make it a better place. And to

me -that's Mr. Bill Farley- the man behind NV.

Compare this to the other product Reliv- here's an archive

For reliv I searched for the ingredients mainly at drugs.com but also webmd for

the most part. The main issue I have with Reliv is in addition for me having to

search incredibly hard to find the ingredients is that the nutrients are added

-not from whole food, and there are artificial and synthetic ingredients -so not

happy with that. Then I did a search of what is added and there are a few

ingredients in question. I did not find much of anything even mentioning reliv

and down syndrome -pretty much this paragraph from this person was it when I put

reliv down syndrome into google

http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view & friendId=83646862 & blogId\

\

=427044697.

Here are the ingredients Reliv INGREDIENTS: Soy Protein Isolate, Soy Flour,

Brewer's Yeast, Lecithin, Psyllium Fiber, Dicalcium Phosphate, Ascorbic Acid,

Methionine, Potassium Chloride, Magnesium Phosphate, Natural Flavor, Licorice

Root, Garlic, Rhubarb Root, Rose Hips, Cayenne, Kelp, OptiZinc® Brand of Zinc

Monomethionine, Ferrous Fumarate, Calcium Pantothenate, Niacinamide, Vitamin E

Acetate, Vitamin A Palmitate, Vitamin D3, Copper Gluconate, Papain, Bromelain,

Thiamin HCL, Riboflavin, Beta Carotene, Pyridoxine HCL, Biotin, Folic Acid,

Potassium Iodide, Vitamin B12, Sodium Selenite and ChromeMate® Brand of Niacin

Bound Chromium Polynicotinate.

And here are some of those in question:

Soy (first two ingredients) Tolerance to soy preparations in one study (N =

164) was reported to be good to excellent for most patients. However, both

toxicity and allergy have been reported. Also watch for low zinc, calcium,

magnesium, and iron levels if taking soy.

Brewer's yeast People who are susceptible to yeast infections or are allergic to

yeast should avoid brewer's yeast.

Lecithin Adverse effects usually are not associated with lecithin. However,

there have been reports of anorexia, nausea, increased salivation, other GI

effects, and hepatitis.

Dicalcium Phosphate /DCP In some instances, DCP can seriously effect the

absorption of other supplements. According to the June 1997 Journal of Clinical

Nutrition, the zinc absorption by people ages 59-86 was reduced by 50% when a

calcium-containing supplement was given with the meal. Phosphate's

non-absorbable character can also create problems. For instance, supplements

containing di-calcium phosphate may form a non-absorbable complex with

tetracycline. When you consider that tetracycline drugs are commonly used to

treat such conditions as bronchitis and certain types of pneumonia, this

propensity could create an inconvenient situation, to say the least. Causes

irritation to skin, eyes and respiratory tract. May be harmful if swallowed.

Potential Health Effects

Inhalation: Causes irritation to the respiratory tract. Symptoms may include

coughing, shortness of breath. Ingestion: Causes irritation to the

gastrointestinal tract. Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. It

presents little toxicity unless large amount are ingested, in which case,

vomiting and diarrhea likely. Eye Contact: Causes irritation, redness and pain.

Skin Contact: Causes irritation to skin. Symptoms include redness, itching and

pain.

Potassium Chloride Serious side effects: confusion, anxiety, feeling like you

might pass out; uneven heartbeat; extreme thirst, increased urination; leg

discomfort; muscle weakness or limp feeling; numbness or tingly feeling in your

hands or feet, or around your mouth; severe stomach pain, ongoing diarrhea or

vomiting; black, bloody, or tarry stools; or coughing up blood or vomit that

looks like coffee grounds.

Less serious side effects may include: mild nausea or upset stomach; mild or

occasional diarrhea; slight tingling in your hands or feet

Ferrous Fumarate serious side effects bright red blood in your stools; or pain

in your chest or throat Less serious side effects may include: constipation,

diarrhea; nausea, vomiting, heartburn; stomach pain, upset stomach; black or

dark-colored stools or urine; or temporary staining of the teeth.

Papain Taking large amounts of papain by mouth is POSSIBLY UNSAFE. In excessive

doses, papain can cause severe throat damage. Bleeding problems: There is a

concern that papain might increase the risk of bleeding in people with a

clotting disorder.

I won't try it and believe the above is why most of us didn't -but Debbie let us

know the difference when you try the NV with your grandchildren instead!

Thanks!
