Happy New Year!

In 2011, TalkTools TherapyT will institute a major expansion in services and

assistance for parents and parent support groups.

We believe our programs are most effective with our ongoing support of

parents, as co-therapists, who reinforce activities at home recommended by

their SLPs. However, communicating with a therapist can be difficult and

time consuming while your questions or problems remain. In addition, many of

you do not have local therapists and are implementing TalkTools TherapyT

programs on your own. A copy of Sara's DVD, As a Parent:What Can I Do to

Improve my Child's Feeding and Speech?, was sent to you or to your support

group to be a resource as you help your child progress towards the goal of

speech clarity.

As a practicing psychologist, I realize the importance of ongoing, timely

communications to head off misinterpretations and to provide support when

problems arise. Consequently, I will be heading an enhanced Parent Support

Network to direct you to additional TalkTools TherapyT resources and staff.

We can address your concerns and share with you common problems and

solutions experienced by other parents. I will solicit parent and parent

group needs for new services and provide specific parent-friendly therapy

techniques for use at home. I can also be an understanding listener.

As a result of our ongoing exchange of ideas, I will be sending a quarterly

email newsletter highlighting individual concerns and solutions generated.

These can then be shared with your membership.

If you are no longer the contact for your group I would appreciate an email

address for the new parent representative, or please ask him or her to email

me with this information.

This is an exciting time for TalkTools TherapyT. We are expanding to other

countries, and each week I hear from international parents who are adapting

our programs to the cultural and linguistic needs of their children. Please

feel free to contact me by phone or email. I encourage you to become a part

of this dynamic dialogue.
