I know one " serving " is only a third of a cup - hardly a mouthful. Some plans are allowing carrots again without restraint as the original testing of their GI was faulty. Corn, alas, is still counted as a starch. Sue in NJ
Guest guest
, 30 pounds is more than I have lost in the last 10 years unless you count the 5 I add and subtract often. I am trying to promise myself that I will not weigh the most I have weighed again. I have kept the 10 pounds off and am focusing on the next 10. I agree about the rules causing rebellion. We have made healthier choices whole wheat products , no sodas, and brown rice etc. I am going to unsweet tea today. Robin :-)
Guest guest
Sue, The program that I have chosen is an exchange program and I see that as something I could do for the rest of my life and teach it to my kids now so that they hopefully would not have to learn the hard "weigh" I have used the food pyramid site and love it. My doctor told me to avoid the no carbs and low carbs as it isn't something most people can do long term and that often the weight pops back on quickly. I think I need to log what I am doing because I don't count cleaning, gardening, walking to the bus stop etc. I need to visualize all the good things I do and the bad to see where changes need to be done. So for April I am also adding a journal of sorts. I also know it can't be done overnight. It feels as if I gained it overnight though. Thanks for the encouragement. I like listing the things and checking them off. That suits my personality. Thanks Robin :-)

The bigger push now is for " Low Glycemic Carbs " (which really translates to more veggies - tho not starches such as potatoes and corn that some folks COUNT as veggies - less processed, pre-packaged food, etc.). I eat about 100g of carbs per day. I could NEVER have survived on even the 2 week Induction phase of Atkins or South Beach! > I think I need to log what I am doing because I don't count cleaning, gardening, walking to the bus stop etc. I need to visualize all the good things I do and the bad to see where changes need to be done. So for April I am also adding a journal of sorts. Journaling is good. I always wonder about including these things as 'exercise' if you're doing the normal every-day routine. Adding in gardening or mopping the floors, etc. if you're doing a detailed cleaning that you don't normally do, etc. makes sense though as you're going 'above and beyond' your normal physical activity. As Callean found - she walks EVERYWHERE, to the tune of more than doubling most folks in the Step Challenge - but it's not helping much with her weight loss as her body's used to that level of exertion. > I also know it can't be done overnight. It feels as if I gained it overnight though. You'll get there! > Thanks for the encouragement. I like listing the things and checking them off. That suits my personality. Guest guest
Hi, I didn't mean to count my stuff as exercise but to count all the positives I do so I don't beat myself up as much. Yes, most of these activities are above and beyond since when I first got to stay at home again I sat way more than I use to. That is one reason I gave up daytime TV the other is that we do not have cable so there is nothing on for me anyway. Robin :-)
Guest guest
Robin-What has been working for me is I drink 2 Slim-Fasts and then have a small dinner, sometimes I also have a small dessert. I drink a lot of water, quit drinking alchohal, and Dance my butt off. ~ Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming - Wow! Guest guest
Thanks but I have been told by my doctor not to do slim fast due to seeing spots and not to restrict my calories for so long. She wants me to continue on the program I am on and it is one that my whole family can follow. I was mostly asking how to get motivated and stay that way. I decided that journaling was the way to go so I could see what things lead to me not doing healthy things like not getting enough sleep causes me to snack more. Guest guest
Sula~ I have to completely agree. There are so many healthy carbs that we should eat, fruits, whole grains, and even veggies have carbs. I don't really know of any diet that is actually No-Carb, although I'm the first to admit that I don't know the details of every diet. If it wasn't for the pain of a Candidal Rash scaring me away from bad-Carbs I'm sure I'd be having a much more difficult time staying on track. I had two bites of mashed potatoes the other night and BAM my rash doubled in size. OUCH! warmly, Kim In a message dated 3/28/07 7:51:43 AM, sulablue2001@... writes: > My doctor told me to avoid the no carbs and low carbs as it isn't something most people can do long term and that often the weight pops back on quickly. Guest guest
I agree with the limiting of white flour, sugar etc. We have switched to whole wheat bread and pasta and have used brown rice for 12 years. I do like those changes. My kids actually hate white bread. Yes! My carb problems are snack cakes and other too easy to get foods. We try not to have them in the house but we enable each other and will pick them up from time to time. The frustrating thing is knowing in my head what is good for me and actually doing it. Duh who doesn't struggle with that I wish they made a patch for it. Kim I am so sorry for your rash. Yikes I hope it feels better soon. Guest guest
Hi , The best book to get started would be the Integrating Dynamic and Postural Reflexes manual. You can check the website for ordering info. at www.Masgutovamethod.com. Val getting started Hi, I need some advice on getting started. I will be attempting to do the therapy by myself and with an OT on my 4 year old very mild CP child. What is the best book (from the website) that I should buy to get started? ------------------------------------

Guest guest
Welcome to the group. I can understand your confusion. If I were in your shoes I would not do the Atomidine. I would take Lugols formula in either liquid or pill form (Iodoral). With a changing therm you will need to hit with a heavy gun. The atomidine is not strong enough to do what you need. I recommend that you do the loading test (no doctor needed to order - references are in the files). Don't wait to do this. Dr. Abraham has said that it takes 3-6 mos of 50 mgs to get to full body saturation provided all is working right and you are not too toxic. As for bromide exposure. It doesn't just come from food. It is found in carpet, furniture, clothing, computers, cell phones, cars and more. Check out www.breastcancerchoices.org for more info. Did you see my mom's therms that I posted Sunday ( I believe). She improved greatly with 50 mgs and supporting nutrients. I don't think it is your diet unless you are eating gluten and that may cause problems as well. I am reading a book called dangerous grains and it is linked to many diseases. We are testing my son for Celiac / intolerance and in two weeks my entire family is going GF (after the WAP national conference). Hope that helps!
