Guest guest
Hi Friend, <http://action.autismspeaks.org/page/m/5ecb3dd5/5ebbb9df/6664dc85/2c139854/19538\ 65229/VEsE/> As a student at Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J., I wear the color blue as much as possible (it's our school color). But when April starts coming around, it brings on a whole new meaning. When I wear blue for Autism Awareness Month, I do it to make a difference for anyone impacted by autism. My name is Kerry and I was diagnosed with autism when I was four, over 18 years ago. Back then, autism didn't really have a color -- let alone a great deal of treatment to help individuals such as myself. Today, we have made leaps and bounds in treatment, research and more. And with Light It Up Blue, we have another annual event to lead to a better tomorrow for those with autism. This year, will you host an event -- like a Wear Blue to Work Day -- to Light It Up Blue? Last year I even got to see the Empire State Building lit up blue on World Autism Awareness Day! Everyone I knew was asking me after the event, " Kerry, why blue? " and then I had the opportunity to tell those individuals about our mission. This year, I have been spreading the word, encouraging people to light it up blue, whether it's on Facebook, Twitter or email like this one. No matter who you are, where you are or what you are doing, you can make a difference by signing up to host an event: Thank you for joining me to raise awareness about autism, and I hope to see you in blue come April! Warm regards, Kerry Magro Autism Speaks
