Guest guest
You have been so helpful to my family, also - starting with the Nordic Naturals six years ago. Now with the Nutriiveda, I think we are about to move on to a different phase. It will be a year in April that my sons have been on Nutriiveda. Both had changes in the beginning, but my youngest had the most significant gains and his just kept on giving. After reading posts, I just started using a kirkman digestive enzyme with the drink. Ben, the youngest, has again seen huge surges. He has his S blends in conversation that a few weeks ago were a struggle with prompting. He is also starting to self correct the 'l' sound. He stopped making this frown face that he would sometimes do and his preschool teachers say he is more self confident in the last couple of weeks and more mature. is also seeing changes in reading fluency and sounding out words (first grade). His eyes are beginning to converge during vision therapy, too. No change in speech, but he only needs his 'r' sound. His classroom teacher did say he seemed more focused last week but I didn't talk to her this week. His reading tutor has said how much he is improving the last two weeks. The changes with enzymes came as quickly as the changes we saw when we first started Nutriiveda. Thanks again for the time you put into everyone. You are a good friend and mentor. Guest guest
You guys don't have to thank me!!! I'm a parent just like you and I honestly believe that reaching out and helping not just my own children but others that we'll have a much greater impact on even our own child. And we need help! I mean, we still don't have in place the right advocacy for our population I like to refer to as the verbal disabled. King's Speech was an awesome movie for awareness that just because someone doesn't speak well, or can't speak at all, doesn't mean that person isn't intelligent, loving, funny, frustrated, full of complex emotions and thoughts- and powerful -I mean you can't get more powerful than Kind of England!! I took my now 14 year old son Tanner and our neighbor 15 year old who has been diagnosed with ADHD and aspergers (he has aspergers as much or as not at all as from American Idol!) But has a slight stutter. Both Tanner and -I could feel how proud they were in their smiles during the movie- and after they both LOVED it. I made sure to say more than once this is based on the real King of England -a true story! But back to awareness because we know that what happened with the King of England isn't always the path for the verbal disabled. If each of us only concentrated on our own child we don't have as much power as if we all reach out to each other and work together as they did for other communities that now have strong advocacy in place. Look at the deaf community, years ago they were like us, but the parents as it's typically the parents, started the advocacy that rebelled against the belief in lack of abilities when deaf. Today even if a child is born deaf into a family that is both poor and uneducated -that child is highly protected by law with how to test, educate, what therapies and schools are appropriate etc. Take a speech impaired child and put them into that same situation and that child is almost guaranteed to end up in a learning disabled placement due to inappropriate testing and outdated stereotypes. As great as fish oils and NV have been for all of our children, they are horrible for us for advocacy because I see it over and over through the past decade that once a child starts to surge -the parent who was so involved is no longer reaching out to help the new parents. My plea is to keep reaching out. Because the goal doesn't end when your child is able to put together 6 or 7 word sentences -it's to help this population we outreach to. In today's world even if one has a minor articulation problem their cognitive ability is judged. We need to change that- and we can't do that in isolation -we need to work together. And to me the most remarkable part of your child's transformation is what happened in the first 3 months on NV -which was after years of fish oils -your child went on diagnosis from Kent University from severe profound to mild moderate from the same neurologist and SLP where they credit that to " Since he is improving, perhaps it is a combination of the intense (twice a week 45 minute sessions) speech therapy and the Nutriiveda. " . That is crazy incredible!!! But also a bit funny if you think about it because goodness knows there are tons of us including me that did intensive therapy 6 days a week and didn't have our children go from severe profound to mild moderate in anywhere near 3 months!!! I mean we have parents of apraxic children who live with their child who can't pull that magic out of the hat! (unless they added the NV to the hat) I have your son's story here http://pursuitofresearch.com/2010/11/22/is-nutriiveda-creating-a-paradigm-shift-\ in-treatment-of-speech-impairments/ Hasn't your kids been on NV for a year now? Enzymes have been brought up a number of times and I know you just added them recently and have noticed more improvements. While for most fish oils are a given to use, and for even more NV is for sure a given, enzymes are a " try " as some do notice a difference when they are added and some don't. You want to know what's worth it and what is a waste of money. I put Tanner on Accell which was created by the same doctors to work together with the Nutriiveda and have shared here what I have seen with that. But Accell is more than just digestive enzymes -I'm actually pretty intrigued with the herb Bramni in it. Brahmi (Bacopa Monnieri) 10:1 Extract * Enhances Cognitive Ability * Improves Both Short Term And Long Term Memory * Improves Motor Learning Ability * Strengthens Adrenal Process * Anti Stress Properties Has been used for centuries in Ayurveda for its ability to decrease cognitive stress. This herb supports clarity and focus. Brahmi also helps improve the physical processes involved in relaxation. http://pursuitofresearch.org/products/accell/ I still say the relaxation part helped Tanner in this new school with all these new kids as it was reported by all his teachers...and an herb clinically validated to improve motor learning ability?!!! But we don't know why NV is working so well for so many, which is why we can look to improve, but we need to understand unlike brahmi and unlike enzymes - the essential nutrients such as essential fatty acids in fish oils http://pursuitofresearch.org/2010/12/01/therapeutic-use-of-fish-oil-for-apraxia-\ autism-and-other-communication-impairments/ and the essential amino acids and nutrients such as those found in food sources in NV http://pursuitofresearch.org/products/nutriiveda/nutriiveda-ingredients/ are essential for all humans for life. The rest may come and go -are superfluous. Anyway -there is so much more to learn, and the great news is hope. I decided my next blog will be on epigenetics which may show how it works both ways- perhaps in addition to cause we can through diet amongst other things prevent and even reverse the symptoms of impairments. Together -we can make a difference and help bring all a voice! =====
Guest guest
Correction as I know all of us live with our child!!! (or one would hope!) The following statement was geared to parents of apraxic children who are SLPs who can't get their apraxic child to go from a diagnosis of severe profound to mild moderate in 3 months at 5 and a half years old as your son did . I mean we have (SLP) parents of apraxic children who live with their child who can't pull that magic out of the hat! (unless they added the NV to the hat) Again this is in regards to 's son's eval from Kent University which she has given permission for me to put up here http://pursuitofresearch.com/2010/11/22/is-nutriiveda-creating-a-paradigm-shift-\ in-treatment-of-speech-impairments/ ~ > > You guys don't have to thank me!!!
