I really like these DVD's and they have just come out with a new one on

multiplication. They are especially great for our kids on the spectrum. The

website has a lot of free resources, specialized papers, tips etc. This is a

great find, thought I would pass it along.

• New DVD for Teaching Multiplication

----------

Steps4Kids launched a new DVD this month: Steps4Kids to Multiply (Numbers 0

through 12).We created this DVD because students we work with experienced

troubles with the other DVDs on the market that use loud music and busy

animation. While those may work for some students, children who are sensitive to

loud noises were not able to watch them. Our DVD uses calm narration and

soothing background music so that they can be used in homes and schools for all

students.

The multiplication DVD is approximately 80 minutes and has tracks that allow

each number to be accessed directly for targeted practice. The DVD has a special

section that sets forth accommodations, discusses certain strategies to help

children develop a process to do multiplication and includes interactive

whiteboard templates with high contrast presentation formats to help students

with vision issues. There is also a section that teaches the various properties

with easy-to-follow tips to help children remember each one. Practice tests are

included at the end of each number track to help children with their rote

memorization skills to meet state standards governing the memorization of

multiplication math facts.
